Located on Filellinon Street, next to Constitution Square (Syntagma Square), this contemporary design hotel, is perfectly positioned for the sights of Athens, including the ruins of Plaka, the Acropolis and its museum, the stylish boutique shopping district of Kolonaki, and the bustling business zone. Situated in the former Olympic Palace Hotel, New Hotel encompasses the heritage of its past by using recycled parts of the old hotel and reinterpreted local materials to create a complete work of art, where outstanding interiors, unusual custom-made furniture and handmade fixtures make guests feel that they live and breathe in a major art installation. Offering an entirely NEW approach this 79-room and suites establishment, is one of the city’s finest examples of modernist architecture and the first ever hotel project of award designer duo, Fernando and Humberto Campana.

We had a short 3 nights stay at NEW Hotel in Athens. The location is hard to beat, you are in the middle of everything and you can walk to all the different sites. The Syntagma train and metro station is also a 5 minutes walk for longer commutes. This is a very quirky hotel, clearly a lot of effort went into the design. The lobby walls are mesmerizing, and even the couches and chairs throughout the property are unique. The rooms are on the smaller side, but are comfortable and again the design is very nice. The only thing we did not like is the bathroom situation, particularly with the toilet/shower combo that is quite awkward. Our room was on the 5th floor (out of 6), and was facing the street. Be aware that it can get very noisy as it's a narrow street with a lot of traffic, so bring earplugs if you are sensitive to that. I believe they have rooms that face the back that might be a bit quieter. The breakfast was delicious, we were so full every day that we basically skipped lunch and went straight to dinner. The rooftop lounge is also incredible; the views over Athens and the Acropolis are mesmerizing and we returned several times. Don't miss the cocktails: they are to DIE for! Our bartender/mixologist Vasilis was super knowledgeable, friendly and eager to talk about the different liquors and recipes involved in his creations. We also had food there on our first night, and although not cheap, it was really delicious. Service wise, everybody was super friendly, eager to help, and we felt very welcome. So in short this is a great, affordable option particularly if you are on a short stay in Athens and want comfort and convenience.

The new hotel is a cool boutique-esque hotel in Athens. The touches to the building and the rooms were very cool and unique. Although it is not quite as luxurious as some of the other hotels in the area, it certainly is 5-star as it relates to service. The service we received from the front desk staff was exceptional. Our airline lost all three of our checked bags and the front desk team worked with the airport on finding the luggage day and night. I cannot ask for more than good service when I’m staying at a hotel and this place definitely delivered. Outside of this, the rooms are clean and nice, and the rooftop bar is awesome.

I initially booked this hotel because of the convenient location. What I also found was a friendly and helpful staff throughout the property. Spiros, the doorman, gives an excellent first impression upon arrival. He friendliness continued throughout my stay. Pavlos was a big help at the front desk especially considering there was a marathon going on the day of my departure. With his help, the event did not inconvenience my comings and goings. The restaurant staff was very welcoming. The housekeeping staff was also always friendly. I would not hesitate to book again, Thanks to all.
