We enjoyed our stay at Athensotel. As said by others, fantastic location to do many touristic things. Our first time in Athens and we walked all over. Budget friendly, clean, nice staff, near restaurants, grocery stores, all kinds of shopping. Nice little cafe/hostel across the street where we got coffee each morning. There is a kitchen with a coffee pot and microwave , toaster and small fridge. There is also a small fridge in the room. The walls are thin, so if you have noisy neighbors it could be a problem. We did not have noisy outside sounds as others complained. I don’t know if it’s too early in the season? Also, we were on the 3rd floor, so not at street level where it could be noisier, I imagine. And the weather was not hot, so when we used the air, we had no problems. If you require a large room, lots of amenities, and hang out in your hotel room, probably not a good choice. We woukd return!

We went to Athens for long weeks and decide to stay at the Athensotel.

The best part of the hotel is location, location and location!!! you cannot get better.

At Psirri are with all the fun, bars clubs, restaurants and near all main attraction of the city.

Hotel is modern and clean but room are indeed a bit small for two people.

Hotel staff was nice and helpful.

I stayed in one of the loft's with my wife and 3 children. The layout was perfect for for our family, with 1 bed on the main floor and 2 more in a loft area accessible by stairs at one end and a ladder at the other. If your children are very young, possibly the ladder may be a concern for you although I'm sure you could block access to it if needed.

Staff were very friendly and helpful.

The location is rather noisy so if you are light sleepers, this is perhaps not the hotel for you. We were woken several times during our 2 night stay. The hotel provides ear plugs to compensate. Other than being noisy, the hotel is centrally located with lots to do nearby.

Dear DanMTravels, we would like to thank you for your nice review! It is our pleasure to provide a hospitable accommodation to our guests. Our goal is for them to experience the famous greek hospitality. The staff and the management team work hard on that direction, so we are really happy and satisfied that you received the desirable level of services from our team. Regarding the noise, as we inform all of our guests in our welcome message, athensotel is located in the "heart" of action,in the most central part of the city and it is surrounded by coffe shops, bars, restaurants. Sometimes noise is inevitable although we do our best to minimize that effect (use of the most advanced sound proofing materials). We are looking forward to welcoming you back again at athensotel. maybe in one of our second floor studios in the future. Yours in hospitality, EK Team member athensotel.com

Definitely not a four stars hotel. Probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Unlike what they claim, their penthouses rooms do not have any kind of soundproofing whatsoever.
You can see the street from
the bottom of the room door which is open directly onto one of the busiest nightlife streets of Athens. Even with earplugs we couldn’t sleep the whole night. We couldn’t stop but hearing some drunk people from screaming and puking all night long. A real nightmare! The staff at reception didn’t take at all about our terrible experience and we had to move to another hotel the next day. And of course we didn’t get any refund. In-room water kettle was not provided supposedly for health and hygiene purposes (Covid). In exchange we were offered to use one public kettle that was used by dozens of people every day. For sure it was much more hygienic!!! The penthouse room we were given was very dirty and dusty and most of the furniture were broken/damaged. Do not waste your time and money there!!! There are thousands of cheaper and better options in Athens.

This was not a good experience at all. My friends and I stayed here three nights. When we arrived, jet-lagged and already overheating from the staggering 100+ degree heat in Athens, the room was easily 90 degrees or more. The air conditioner, even at full blast and the coldest setting, only worked at half capacity at best, and the room took the entire three nights to cool down to a healthy temperature. When I woke up the first morning, I was sick from the heat with an intense migraine and vomiting (the toilet seat did not stay up on its own, so it hit me on the head). We had to take cold showers every night to be able to lower our body temperature and avoid getting sick again. The beds were also only made with a single sheet, and the nearby clubs blasted music well past midnight. All this is not to mention that my best friend left their cell phone on the bed, and we didn’t realize until we were on our ferry to Mykonos. Not only was the staff unwilling to do as little as package the phone so that a third-party delivery service could pick it up, but I witnessed them curtly hang up on my friend while on the phone trying to figure out any possible way to get it back. It was evident, based on the fact that it was barely staffed and they never answered their phone, that our enjoying our stay was no one’s priority. Overall, the service was lacking, especially compared to the rest of the impeccable service we received at the other hotels and restaurants that we visited during our 10 day trip to Greece. This experience brought the overall quality of our trip down significantly. Don’t stay here.

I booked a twin room. And I found bugs!!! 😱😱
The bug was dead on the pillow and bedsheet, and one was alive on the wall!!
My friends said it looks like bed-bug. But receptionist said ‘It came into the window. So it's non-refundable with that reason’
I was disgusted by the bed where the bug died, so I just came out and booked another hotel.
And also the free wine listed in the details is false! Delete it!

athensotel.com and hotels.com made exaggerated advertising and false advertising!

We stayed here for three nights and while we chose it for its location, it would have been better to have stayed somewhere else. When we first got there, our hotel room did not have any air conditioning turned on and it was 107 that day. It took the better part of the three days just to cool it down to a reasonable temperature. We took cold showers each night just to try to stay cool. The noise from the local bars after midnight was so loud that the ear plugs that the hotel provides couldn’t drown out the thumping bass and drums that pulsates so easily through the thin walls. The sounds from the room above on the hard floor (no carpet) could easily be heard as well. Our room had a chair with metal feet so I imagine that’s what we heard so easily through the ceiling. We also left an important item behind accidentally when we left and the hotel was not helpful at all in the retrieval of it. Service was definitely lacking.

Have you every heard Greek punk rock? We have! This hotel looks very nice, however, it is right across the street from a bar. While the music did stop at midnight the noise in the street was loud until about 3 a.m. Which being completely honest would have been fine in my twenties and not trying to start a 24 hour travel day the next day. The bed was up in the loft area which my daughter slept on, because we didn't know. My hatband and I slept on a "fold out bed" that was awful. I thought it was going to collapse with us on it. We arrived late so there was no one to contact when we notice we had no blanket. So, in short if you are in your twenties and looking to party this is the location for you. If you are a family looking to get some sleep before all of your adventures keep looking for another hotel.

The place is deceiving. First of all the list of amenities on the website is not what is in the room. Too many to list. It is a basic room. In my case a loft. The mattresses are on the floor and the sofa bed is just the cushions from the sofa.

There were review about safety but I didn’t see an issue. It is located in an area that is being revived. There is a hostel across the street and a couple bars around the corner that operator to three or four in the morning. There are cameras outside the building too. I cannot say this is why I gave a low rating.

Too me this is slightly about a hostel. Low rating is because of all the amenities missing and poor quality of the bedding. I cannot recommend this place at all. Go elsewhere.

The room was super clean and tidy and staff delivered top service. Maria at the reception was super kind and helpful and the owner of Athensotel is a great man that I had the chance to meet and spend some time with. Will definetly come again when I get the chance and I strongly recommend to anybody who wants to visit Athens to have their stays at Athensotel.
Excellent experience!
