The WiFi could have been better, their Ubiquity solution fell over because of load at their conference venues.
In a single sentence: they need Ruckus WiFi. To leverage the power of a solid network backbone, this way their cleaning staff won’t need to capture their work progress on a piece of paper but use a tablet instead.
Clean rooms and accommodating staff made my stay here an altogether good experience nonetheless.

For the same budget this hotel was the nicest one I could get in the centre of Athens (I physically visited around 10 hotels). It has been completely renovated in good taste. Impeccable. I also went to the spa. Warmest welcome and superb massage I cannot remember we the names of the two ladies but they were adorable and efficient. They use Greek products. Every day there is a special offer on a massage so it is hard to resist. Finally reception staff were really nice. It is located not far from the touristic centre. The area is "shabby chic". Taxis available all the time and really cheap.

Sad to say the majority of the previous reviews are completely true.

The area is decidedly unsavoury & feels unsafe, having spent the last month travelling around the Greek islands & Turkey, this was the only place we felt at risk, even Istanbul felt safer.
Beware if you reserve a city view room, the photograph posted by a previous reviewer was identical to the view that greeted us on arrival, plus the floor was unswept, hair, rubbish etc & the sheet on the bed clearly didn’t fit, on complaining we were advised by front of house that ‘ that is what you booked’, we were eventually offered another room which turned out to be two rooms along with an identical view. Having rejected that for obvious reasons we were informed that it would cost us a further 50€ a night for a better room. Such a obvious con and not what you would expect from a 5* hotel. The front of house clearly need training in customer service protocols, the attitude was appalling and we can name names. The room we eventually ended in was better but had a terrifying shower, Chinese water torture springs to mind and to be honest the bathroom itself could do with a complete refurbishment. Yes the room had a view of the Parthenon but We would have been perfectly happy with what we had originally booked, a City View.
It didn’t end there, the pool is tiny & pretty grungy, breakfast has a great selection but is all a bit cold & tatty. The tables appear to be cleaned by wiping any spilled food onto the floor. Goodness knows when the cloths were cleaned, at no time (3 nights) did we see any tables sprayed with antibac. Today we observed one of the waitresses collecting clean cultlery for a new table and carrying it by the tines and blades not by the handles, nor was she wearing gloves.
The USB ports do not work, your allowed 2 coffee capsules per your stay, extra will 1.50€ per capsule so bring your own & one bottle of water for your stay, not per day. Penny pinching meanest for a 5* hotel.
This hotel sells itself on a 5* rating, which it’s not and a fantastic view of the Parthenon. If your happy to pay 5* prices and get 2* star service by all means book here.

On arrival there were 3 reception staff. 2 appeared competent but the other needed much direction from her colleague. As we waited to be seen the two customers before us were putting in complaints. The first man mentioned how his shower wasn’t working and the other customer said how her stay had not been as nice as the previous time due to the difficulty of getting served by the restaurant staff. From this I did wonder if choosing Wyndham Grand Athens was going to be a big mistake for our 6 night stay.
Over the course of our time there, the restaurant staff tried their best. And in my opinion they were just extremely short staffed for the amount of work they had to do. For example, the breakfast was served there, any refreshments, bites for lunch and dinner. Waiting on customers lounging by the pool or others taking in the views from outside were all catered for by a very limited amount of staff on duty.
The rooms were an adequate size with the usual amenities. Powerful showers with a choice of an overhead one or hand held. Cleaning staff replaced used products and made up beds when sign was placed on the door knob.
Breakfast times were always busy but the staff hurried about and made sure tables were cleared for others promptly.
The swimming pool was small with only 10 loungers. Most days, times, it was difficult to get one. Therefore you had to make do for a towel on an empty spot.
I tried out the Spa facility and the one woman there was professional and experienced.
Overall, we had a relaxing time and enjoyed our stay.

The Wi-Fi did not work at all for four of the eleven nights that we stayed at this hotel and even when it did work it was extremely slow. I always travel with my laptop so I can watch movies but even when the Wi-Fi was working it was too slow to watch even short videos. When we complained about the lack of Wi-Fi we were simply told that the hotel is aware of the issue and it was due to the network provider. We paid for three adults but only received two sets of towels, glasses, and mugs in the room. We therefore asked a member of housekeeping for a third set of towels. However, the simple request was rejected by the member of housekeeping stating the the hotel was out of towels! Our room was never cleaned until after 4pm and on one occasion the room was not cleaned until 9:30pm and that was after we had gone down to reception and complained on three separate occasions. The customer service at this hotel was truly awful. My son met with the hotel concierge about the possibility of taking a day trip to Delphi and a trip to Mount Olympus and followed up with the concierge per her request via WhatsApp but never received a reply. On the final day we booked and paid for a hotel transfer to the airport from the hotel reception. Just as we were entering passport control the shuttle driver ran up to us asking for payment. It transpiared that the hotel had told him that we had not paid. Luckily, we always keep receipts so we were able to prove that this was not the case but it was rather embarrassing being chased into the airport and accused of owing the hotel payment. The location of this hotel is not the best and if I was to visit Athens again I would definitely stay in the Plaka neighborhood. The breakfast and view of Acropolis was probably the best part of this hotel but despite the nice view the breakfast also took a turn for the worst on the final three days of our stay when the bread on offer was stale.

We stayed at the Wyndham for four nights. The room was very nice except for the traffic on the square but that’s not the hotel’s fault. When you stay in a big city that is somehow to be expected. I was however surprised that in a five star hotel you only receive one coffee capsule per person in the room for the whole stay. That is somehow quite below the expectation. Then the breakfast was an additional charge of 18€ per person that I am happy to pay as long as it is clean, offers a proper variety and is managed by a friendly staff. The first problem was that the crew seemed totally overwhelmed when there were more people there. Glasses ran out and so did all the juices. All other items were regularly filled up.,Although most staff was very friendly, one lady who seemed to be the longest serving of the staff was totally unfriendly to anyone that did not approach her in Greek. I asked her a few times and she always answered in an impatient tone as if I should know better than to approach her! That is not the treatment I expect of a Wyndham! On the plus side, the front desk staff was wonderful, helped us with everything we needed and made sure we were satisfied. Congratulations to all of them.
The hotel is nicely located close to the subway that can take you everywhere. If you want to walk, you have to put up with a 10 minute walk through a quite run-down neighborhood but then you are at a nuzzling square that has lots of restaurants and a great view of the Akropolis. From there everything is easily accessible.
All in all we enjoyed our stay and I would hope Wyndham will finally take care of the few issues that were already mentioned in many other reviews…

We were originally booked at Wyndham Residence across the street from Wyndham Grand. Due to remodeling at Residence we were accommodated at Grand at no additional charge.

Nice room with a king size bed. No tub only shower. Shower floor is flat allowing water to leak on the bathroom floor if glass door isn’t closed completely.

Room had nice amenities like in room safe, mini bar, robes and a coffee maker that uses mini k-cups. Property will give first two k-cups for free on arrival then will charge 1.50 euro for each after. We did a lot of walking and found mini Marts around the property where we picked up instant coffee. We didn’t find the exact k-cup size as used in the room.

Restaurant is on the 9th floor with beautiful views of the city including an excellent shot of the Acropolis.

So far we are very pleased and comfortable here.

Visited the hotel for three nights immediately following Christmas and it was perfect for our trip in so many reasons. The service upon arrival was excellent. We had encountered a problem in that a car was meant to meet us at the airport but it hadn't turned up so we had to get a taxi. The hotel arranged our transport back and reduced the price due to the inconvenience of the trip going out, the staff were apologetic, decisive and pleasant in the way they dealt with it. The room itself was comfortable and we had a good view of the Acropolis even though we weren't in the rooms classed as having and Acropolis view. The gym was conveniently located on our floor and was very good for a hotel gym. Breakfast was fabulous with a wide variety of choice of freshly cooked food and other options for all tastes, the view from the restaurant is gorgeous. The hotel is conveniently located near the hop on hop off bus stops so is ideal for getting to a variety of the major locations for a short stay in Athens. There are restaurants around the hotel so there is plenty of choice of places to eat as well. We would definitely come back!

Not a 5 star hotel. We stayed here for a week in may and while the hotel looked good on the TUI website it was a big disappointment. Firstly the location, while it was good for access to the metro the area is not safe was walking around at night. There is a brothel next door (pointed out by our taxi driver) and we found used needles from drug abuse on pavements outside. The hotel was full of corporate clients with several conferences going on while we were there, which meant the pool was swamped with people who were loud and intimidating and breakfast in the morning was overcrowded, it might have been better if these corporate clients had been catered for in the buffet area on the ground floor leaving those of us that were on holiday to enjoy our holiday.
Speaking of the buffet breakfast, it was cold always, we had booked an early trip on day and we’re hopefully expecting a hot breakfast as previous days was stone cold. Despite the fact that breakfast opens at 7am, it was still cold and not nice, I would expect more from a 5 star hotel. The dinning room was dirty and watching the staff clean tables I understood why!!, they were seen to push all crumbs etc from tables straight onto the floor!!.

The rooms were comfortable enough but we ran out of toilet paper one day and it took 24 hrs for it to be replaced. Also on another day the maid had emptied the bin but left it on the side. You are only given 2 free coffee in the room and then charged, again not what I would expect from a 5 star hotel and one bottle of water to last a week, unacceptable.

The hotel boasts on their website an a la carte menu, I could not find such menu anywhere in the hotel, the food that was offered was basic bar food, not a la carte standard. There is a fantastic restaurant opposite though where we went 4 nights in the week we were there.

Reception staff when we arrived offered no information about the hotel and didn’t take my husbands credit card details which became a problem on day 3 when in bar they refused to put our drinks on the room as credit had been stopped.

If you want to boast a 5 star rating then this hotel needs to seriously up its game.

One last point of interest was there were signs everywhere asking people to wear masks but the staff themselves wore them round their necks and from someone who works in health care especially during COVID times this was unacceptable.
