Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

Situated in a prime beachfront location, Arribas Sintra Hotel offers stunning ocean views and a tranquil yet lively environment that guests frequently commend. The spacious, clean rooms with ocean vistas are popular among travelers, though some feel updates are necessary, particularly with amenities like air conditioning and internet. While the large saltwater pool is a highlight, reviewers warn about wear and tear.
The hotel's service is generally lauded for its professionalism and friendliness, yet there have been mentions of occasional inefficiency. Cleanliness is consistently praised, especially for the modern amenities and natural breakfast offerings. However, some travelers consider the hotel overpriced due to the average food quality and outdated aspects.

Detailed Reviews
It is one of the places, we have seen travelling a lot in Portugal and the whole world. The location can not be better: directly alongside the beach, no noise, spacious hotel rooms, the best sunset view from the rooms, as well from the restaurant. Good Portuguese food with quite a low pricing and in the neighbourhood are more good restaurants in case you are staying there for a longer time.
The family managed hotel has impressed us over many years with very charming reception and service. In front of the hotel is a bus stop to go to Sintra from where you can use the local trains to Lisbon. Or what we prefer is walking to the next beach village (about 10-15 minutes) called Praia de Maca, from where you can go 6 times per day in summer time with an old fashioned tram to Sintra.
And the story of the hotel is impressive studying the photographs of the filming by famous Wim Wenders for one of his first films (Stand der Dinge/State of affairs). We love the place and it is only 45 minutes by taxi from Lisbon airport. Hopefully the actual reform will stay with all the existing structure. By the way it is a surfer‘ s paradise

The hotel has been very tastefully renovated and the beds are comfortable. The view of the sea from the room on the 2nd floor is fantastic. The rooms were always cleaned very well and we could choose whether we needed fresh towels every day. The staff at the reception and in the restaurant were always very helpful and friendly.
We had booked half board. The breakfast buffet was extensive and good. For example, there was always fresh fruit, such as pineapple and melon.
The 3-course menu in the evening was excellent and could compete with any good restaurant. We could choose the food from a menu of four different starters, eight main courses and eight desserts. All of them were very good quality. We would love to come back.

This was our first trip to the Lisbon coast and we were not disappointed. We went for some sun, to relax and visit local attractions in the Sintra area which we did. The hotel has great rooms with ocean views and a unique large pool! We noticed some 'professional looking' swimmers training there.
The food is excellent, tasty and freshly prepared with a great deal of variety. The location is quiet but only a 10-15 minute walk along the cliffs to Praia de Macas (Apple Beach) with lots of bars and restaurants and another fantastic beach. You can catch the little wooden electric tram there to Sintra. The staff in all areas are attentive and welcoming with a smile, with great service. Great aircon, comfy beds and is very quiet at night. Good transport links right outside the hotel to Sintra, only 30 minutes and 2.6 euros each.
Overall, the perfect stay for us...

I stayed at Arribas Sintra Hotel at the beginning of December 2023 and the experience was absolutely amazing. The hotel looks very clean, in good condition, with spacious and very bright rooms. The view is incredible, towards the beach. The beds are very comfortable and I can say it was one of the best sleep I had in any hotel. Bathroom was modern with a nice power shower and it was good to see a hotel that has a proper hair dryer. The breakfast was absolutely lovely, with a very good variety on the buffet. Eggs in particular seemed like proper, natural eggs, unlike the powdery ones many hotels are using. We didn't get to use the pool, as the weather was not on our side; however, it did look amazing and something that would make me come back during the warm season. Staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful and I could feel that relaxed, warm approach which is so often missing in hotels. I will definitely return when the weather gets warm to enjoy the huge swimming pool! Thank you for your hospitality and look forward to staying here again!

Stayed here with my sister and brother-in-law. The room we stayed in had an extra room attached with 2 twin beds which is great if you have children (or in-laws ;). The hotel staff was excellent. The hotel desk employees were especially helpful and friendly, and almost everyone was fluent in English. Lots of suggestions with places to visit or to eat! The pool is the largest pool in Europe. Plenty of chairs are always available and a very big wading pool for small children. Breakfast buffet was very tasty with lots of options . Rooms were very clean. I definitely recommend the Arribas Hotel Sinatra .

I stayed 8 nights at Arribas Sintra Hotel.
The hotel is fantastically located directly on the Atlantic Ocean, breathtaking sunsets from your room and balcony inclusive. A huge saltwater pool gives you the oportunity to swim savely next to the wild Ocean.
Staff, especially at the reception is very friendly and helpful. I noticed that they truly love their job.
Hotel and rooms are very clean and I enjoyed the spacious shower tray in the bathroom.
I liked a lot the electricity regulation system in the room. Apart from the door opening card there is also an electricity card next to the entrance door which can provide electricity to the room even when you leave it. So I was able to decide for myself if the room should have electricity or not and therefore I could charge my phone even when I was outside of my room.
It was a fantastic experience for me and I really recommend this hotel.

The views from the rooms are amazing, simply amazing. Even in late December, we had the door to our room open a few centimeters and slept to the rhythmic sounds of the surf. Sunsets are incredible either from the room, the restaurant balcony, along the beach, or walking across the cliffside path (to the north of the hotel).
The "main" beds were good for us, but the "kids" beds were hard as stone. Pillows were numerous, but variable - one of mine was "lumpy" but the other was full and smooth.
Breakfast is tasty and easy with a nice selection of savory items and pastries. Coffee was tasty and hot milk was available.
Parking was free, and simple enough - it's tight, but with a normal-sized rental car it was easily manageable.
There wasn't a lot open within walking distance (off season), but the nearby bus stop would make getting around without a rental car possible.
Overall, we've got no regrets about booking this hotel and would be hard pressed to choose something else on a return trip.

The hotel advertising pictures are far from reality. In real life the hotel as well as the rooms are very old, only small and cheap renovation has been made, but doesn't help. The hotel has probably been very nice 30-40 years ago, but doesn't meet today's standars and expectations of a high-quality hotel.
Double room was very dark without proper lighting, there were traces of humidity in the ceiling, mold in the bathroom floor, very old interior with painted glass fibre wallpaper and plastic floor carpet. In addition there was some odd smell in the rooms and the hotel - potentially to cover the smell of mold. Bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. Pool was good, but open for other than hotel guests.
Good sea view and nice beach nearby.
A la carte restaurant was so and so, not good nor bad. Breakfest ok, but not outstanding.
