Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

Grande Real Villa Itália Hotel & Spa is widely commended for its exemplary service, with staff members described as friendly and professional, although a few guests have pointed out less-than-satisfactory attitudes and slow service. The hotel prides itself on cleanliness, boasting immaculate rooms and facilities that consistently impress visitors. Guests enjoy spacious rooms with tranquil sea views, though there are occasional remarks about outdated decor.
While the location is celebrated for its scenic tranquility and easy access to local sights, some travelers feel the hotel's amenities, including drinks and additional services, are overpriced. Despite the high-quality amenities and serene atmosphere, issues with Wi-Fi connectivity and poolside comfort have been mentioned.

My fiance and I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in December (26th - 31st) and everything about this hotel is perfect, its stunning, if not the most stunning hotel we have visited. The rooms are very spacious, the bathroom is pure luxury and are cleaned on a daily basis if required. A kettle, tea and coffee are provided in the room but only fruit tea (so take your own preference), room service is available until 11pm, and fresh water and toiletries are replaced daily.
We stayed at this hotel with breakfast included and there was so much choice to cater for everyone, they even offer omelettes and eggs Benedict if there isn't anything you fancy!
The staff go over and beyond here, so polite and happy to help in every way possible making it that 5* experience. We would like to say a massive thank you to Cristóvão for his friendliness, making us feel welcome and passing on your knowledge of good pizza restaurants to visit :)
Theres plenty of things to do around this area and would definitely return to this hotel. The massages in the spa were amazing along with the facilities.
Would 100% reccomend.
Thank you again.

We stayed for 11 days over Christmas the hotel is amazing but the staff really make it worth while.
Chris in particular and his team went out of their way to get to know us and deliver a consistently good experience.
The location is perfect, next to the sea with lots of opportunities to walk, only 10 mins from the town and lots of choice of restaurants outside the hotel.
The food in the hotel was good but perhaps the menu a bit restricted after a few days of being there. Room service was good and just before we were due to leave the room service manager returned after a break and he was brilliant very enthusiastic and went out of his way to help.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable with cleaning and towels twice a day.
The gym was small but adequate and we had it to ourselves most days. The spa is very relaxing and high quality.
Reception staff were again amazing always willing to help and offer ideas of restaurants and golf courses. The guys on the door again brilliant welcoming you every time you arrive back at the hotel.
The bar was good but sometimes service a bit slow however Carlota was really good and offered ideas and information on drinks.
There is an outdoor pool which was too cold to use when we were there but the pool and exterior of the hotel are very nice.
Don’t actually have anything negative to say ! Would definitely return to be spoilt.
Thanks Chris and team

This is a stunning hotel, absolutely faultless, staffed by some of the most attentive people you could ever wish for. Nothing is too much trouble. We were upgraded to a lovely room on the top floor. It was probably the quietest hotel room we have ever had, no noise whatsoever. My only regret was we didn't have a chance to try the restaurant.

We stayed at this gorgeous hotel for 5 nights and it was definitely worth the 14 day quarantine that we had to endure on our return.
The hotel is in a perfect location close to the beach and centre of Cascais where there are some wonderful restaurants.
The hotel is very stylish and well presented and under current circumstances we were very impressed with the hygiene standards that were put in place. Every single member of staff wore a mask even outside.
Our bedroom was modern, bright & very spacious with the biggest bed we had ever seen !
The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. A special mention to Chris - The Real Experience Manager who was particularly attentive and went out of his way to ensure that everyone was happy. In addition the hotel reception staff were very professional and could not do enough to help & assist us.
We can’t wait to return again next year.
Love this hotel - A million stars

I would rate our stay at the Grand Real Villa Italia Hotel as six stars. The location was ideal, right by the beach with fantastic sea views.
Our stroll into Cascais town, was just the right distance not too far or too close.
We had requested for two connecting double deluxe rooms with a sea view and breakfast, but upon check in we were allocated two rooms that were side by side. The conscierge made an effort to switch rooms for us, and to our delight we had our connecting rooms.
And what lovely spacious rooms they were! We were impressed with the well planned space, luxurious bathroom and large terrace. There was a complete array of amenities, toiletries, and a travel adapter.
We couldn't have asked for more.
Breakfast was a good selection and the staff were always so attentive.
An exceptional hotel over all!

This is an excellent hotel. What really makes it stand out is the staff. They are friendly, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. When I had a problem with the room on the first night, the Customer Experience Manager went to great lengths to sort out a transfer to another room. I would particularly like to commend the staff in the restaurant and reception. Housekeeping also did an outstanding job of making sure the room was always impeccable. The hotel is very well located a short walk from Cascais in a peaceful location overlooking the sea. I have tried numerous hotels in this area and this is undoubtedly the best.

Although the hotel has a great location and great views, it is far from being a five star property. Sitting on the terrace waiting to be served you could die of thirst. The staff use Covid-19 as an excuse for not providing certain services which other hotels provide.
We planned to stay for lunch but it was like pulling teeth just to get served drinks, so we departed for lunch elsewhere. The menu is also overpriced for both food and beverages especially when the service is so bad.
Now they've invested in Covid-19 cleanliness and procedures, it's time to invest in staff training, courtesy, manners and professionalism.
Very very frustrating and disappointing and we won't be back.

So many things wrong with this hotel. The rooms are old and warn down, they charge 10 EUR for bringing anything to your room. We tried to get a Kettle for coffee and tea in the room, impossible without paying 10 EUR plus extra roomservice charges. You cant use the indoor spa pool if you are under 15 years old. Just all the small things you take for granted in a nice hotel doesnt exist here. Really disappointed. If we didnt have a little child with us we would have changed to another hotel and ask for a refund. Also, on our departure we asked for pre booking of a taxi to the airport. When the car arrived it was a high end private car. I asked the portier to confirm it was a normal taxi, he garanteed me it was. It was not, we were charged private car pricing from the hotel to the airport.

I’ve booked myself a little three day getaway and out of all the hotels that I could’ve chosen in Cascais I have picked the grand Villa Italia Real.
It’s located just a little bit out of town- a stones throw from the seafront and the park so a good location and it’s certainly impressive when you arrive. It’s an ornate Italianate monstrosity with great check in , and when I’m shown into my room which is a grand superior double, it’s an enormous double bed with a nice walk in wardrobe and a large bathroom with shower and bath.
I’ve also got a very large balcony, but with a view of the road and not the sea.
Service in the hotel is good and it’s obviously something they pride themselves on.
However the first day is rainy and I’m rather hoping to use the indoor pool which I find out is not a pool at all but a Thalassotherapy centre which cost €30 for 45 minutes.
It’s also not possible to get a spa appointment. Probably a good thing as it means the spa is popular, but not good for guests.
Thanks to the efforts of Miguel on the front desk I am given a therapy session for 5 pm and the spa get back to me with a Monday morning massage before I leave.
Breakfast is excellent and a good selection and well served, but should you want to have breakfast in your room, there is an extra charge Even though the irritating online information which you have to find via QR code doesn’t say that this is the case.
The hotel is impressive. I suspect like many hotels, they are suffering from a lack of staff which means that on the first day my room isn’t serviced until nearly 3 o’clock in the afternoon and that’s only after I’ve asked for it to be done. But it is the sort of hotel that takes notice of things and the next day my hotel room is serviced early in the morning.
All in all this is a very nice hotel. It’s not the cheapest in town, and it’s probably not the most up-to-date. No plugs or USB sockets by the bed, But it’s a nice place to hide away for a few days and be well looked after

A classic hotel, quite beautiful but the management need to pull their socks up.
On arrival we waited on the terrace looking out to sea; five of the ten umbrellas there need repair (still need repair as another customer pointed out this issue in an October review) and this tainted the 5* rating from the start.
Due to Covid (I presume) there are no printed menus to be found anywhere… not at the bar nor in the room for room service; you must scan a QR code either at the reception or in a photo frame brought by a waiter. Wouldn’t it be easier to stick a laminated QR code in each room so guests can scan when needed?
Our room had only three water cartons in the mini fridge, no coffee/tea facilities, no stationery and no instructions as to how to use the (very complicated) telephone… Covid also? By chance I once managed to connect to the reception to request the room service menu - this, in printed format, was subsequently pushed under the door. The standard delivery fee for room service was 10€, this was also the fee for the delivery of the requested kettle (they did bring cups).
The breakfast is very good but the served filter coffee is poor. Other coffees are available eg espresso, Americano but you must specifically request them. As the hotel is so Covid aware I wonder why guests weren’t instructed to wear masks and gloves at the buffet area…
Generally the reception staff were not very welcoming, disinterested even, & we overheard a charge of 70€ for a taxi to the airport being quoted by a senior receptionist … using FreeNow the charge is circa 25€.
A warm ‘thank you’ to Natassa, working at the bar. She was super kind, friendly and professional.
