We arrived at the Hotel Cascais Miragem on the 21st of December and left on 10th of January. From the time we arrived until we left we were amazed at the level of welcome, friendliness, service and help we received— nothing was too much for the staff to do with a smile.
We stayed in a deluxe room on the 10th floor— it was spacious, beds extremely comfortable, had tea/coffee making facilities, fridge/ minibar and was very quiet. Storage space was good and a safe was in the wardrobe. The bathroom was large, had great lighting, plenty of nice toiletries and had a big window looking out onto the balcony and the bay— loved it.
We ate frequently in the Cristovao Colombo bar on the third floor— food was very tasty, well presented and reasonably priced. The buffet breakfast was excellent— great choice of healthy foods. We used room service many times— again the menu was good and delivery was so prompt and efficient- all was exactly as ordered— it was also quite reasonably priced. During our stay bottled water was complimentarily delivered to our room each day and little bottles of port on three occasions— also chocolates— really nice surprise.
On the sixth floor there is a luxurious water lounge with a great sauna, Turkish bath , steam room and pool with jacuzzis.
In the foyer there is an excellent hairdressers- Manel was great. On the third floor one could relax , watch TV or read in the television lounge.
Cascais town is very quaint with many cobbled little streets full of shops, cafes and restaurants— it is only ten minutes walk along the seafront from the Miragem. From Cascais one can get a train into Lisbon (about 35 minutes) and it it
very cheap and runs frequently .
All the staff at the hotel were excellent— we would particularly like to thank José Branco( general manager), Joanna, Clara, Raquel, Anna Martinez, Mafalda Martinez, David, Diogo and Eduarte—at the front desk, Alec and Eduarte- doormen, Patricia from Room service— for their kindness and attention — you are an amazing team.
We have travelled all over the world and stayed in many super hotels but we can honestly say that the Cascais Miragem is one of the best . We look forward to returning soon.

This is a really good hotel, one of the best I have stayed in. The hotel was very quiet due to cancellations of major conferences and events due to Covid19 and the Spa was closed for the same reason but this did not in any way detract from the experience. As the hotel was quiet, we were offered a room upgrade upon arrival which gave us a balcony with a lovely view over the pool area and the sea beyond. The hotel was spotlessly clean everywhere and there were numerous hand sanitization stations e.g. at the entrances and outside the lifts. The staff are simply first class, obviously carefully selected and trained by the hotel management to deliver a consistently high standard of service. They were very attentive and helpful and always quick to react to any request. All of the staff who we interacted with spoke perfect English and were happy to engage in conversation and answer any questions we had. The location of the hotel is excellent, being only 5 minutes walk from the nearest beach and a further 5 minutes to the centre of town with its numerous bars, restaurants and shops.

What a fabulous hotel. Could not recommend enough. We booked last minute thinking we would not need to quarantine on our return. Portugal however was added once again to the list, so we are currently isolating at home. May I say it was worth it . The hotel and staff are magnificent. Very impressive entrance and lobby. (temperature checks as you enter) Nice pool with well spaced sun beds. Bedrooms are amazing. We had a massive king size bed, ( requested) , large bathroom and a balcony with fabulous views of the pool and sea. The food was very good . We opted for half board and ate outside everyday as the weather was very hot. Breakfast was a buffet with hot and and cold options. This was served from behind Perspex Screens .The evening meal was served at the table. Plenty of choices for all meals and very good quality.
The cleanliness and Covid measures were impeccable. Plenty of no touch sanitisers, all staff wore masks , residents wore masks when walking around in communal areas, timed cleaning of rooms, social distancing adhered to, regular temperature checks when entering the hotel. We felt very safe.
Cascais is a beautiful place and easily reached from the hotel via a well lit underpass, probably about 10 minutes walk to the town. Lots of little shops and nice places to eat. The sardines were big and very good. All places were very clean, all staff wear masks, plenty of sanitisers and good social distancing. They are very proactive re Covid.
Nice walk to Estoril along the promenade with several beach front cafes for a drink or meal.
So many positives about this wonderful hotel and place. Will definitely return in better times. The Portuguese were friendly and helpful. What a magnificent place.

We recently returned to Cascais for a vacation after living there for all of 2018. We were at the Holmes Place Gym nearly every day while we lived there and the Miragem was always a beautiful looking hotel with a great lobby. We decided to spend our last couple of days there after moving out or our Airbnb and were sadly disappointed. Yes the hotel has a spectacular location and if you have a sea view room, which we did, it has a breathtaking view. But when you get into the rooms it is an entirely different story. The bathrooms are severely outdated with obviously very old marble tiles. The shower had separate hot and cold water controls so getting the temperature right was a challenge. There is also a motion detector that turns off the lights so if you take a long shower get ready to have the lights go out on you. There is a dearth of outlets in the room so charging more than 1 iPhone at a time was a challenge. We had maintenance come up three times because of electrical problems in the room. We asked to speak to the GM but were told he doesn't work weekends and the Manager on duty was either unempowered or uninterested to do anything. Perhaps the most obvious and tacky feature was how they mounted the TV on the front of the credenza where they had replaced the old tube models with flat screens that did not fit so they just stuck them on the front of the furniture as you can see in the picture below. Yes the pool is amazing but for a 5 star hotel that is as expensive as the Miragem I have to say they should lose 2 of their stars. I have literally spent thousands of nights in hotels including having Lifetime Titanium with Marriott and having had top tier loyalty status with IHG, Windham and Best Western and I have never been more disappointed in a hotel. I am not sure if it is that single hotel or all of the hotels this company runs but it seems pretty obvious that it is being treated as a cash cow and not being given the attention it deserves and needs

Even during the challenging times of trying to manage Covid 19, my husband and I enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Hotel Cascais Miragem in June 2020. Staying at the resort property and enjoying the pool area and oceanfront vistas was a great mini-vacation and an easy trip from Lisbon. I applaud the management and staff for maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety for guests. The staff was very friendly and responsive to any needs we had. Lots of complimentary water and fruit.

With a safety-first welcome, there is sanitizer everywhere, and clear procedures in place to promote and maintain social distancing. Additionally, the rooms are luxurious and comfortable, with private balconies that offer fresh air and incredible views of the ocean. We loved the breakfasts, especially the ripe mangoes that they fly in everyday from Brazil!

The pool area is expansive and has king-size ‘bed/cabanas’ in addition to traditional lounge chairs and umbrellas. You can enjoy beautiful views of the ocean from the chairs. I wish my stay could have been longer, but we were able to decompress, relax, and enjoy a beach vacation for 3 great days. I highly recommend this resort and look forward to staying there again.

I spent four nights at the mirage in September 2020. Overall I was very impressed with the facilities and service. The staff were very professional and friendly. The room was very comfortable and the food was amazing. There were two negative experiences. The first happened relates to an incident involving broken glass by the swimming pool. I was walking over from my sun lounger toward the towel storage area. As I approached the staff who were handing out beach towels, I felt a sharp pain in my heel and had to stop walking immediately. I sat down and saw that I had broken glass stuck in the skin of my heel pad. The staff were very helpful and came to my assistance immediately. Fortunately I was able to remove the glass fragment fairly easily with my fingers. Nevertheless it was quite an unpleasant experience. I expressed my concern to the pool staff and they promptly brought out a broom and swept the area. My second concern is perhaps slightly out of the control of the hotel management. Having spent four afternoons lying by the pool I did not witness a single guest shower before entering the water. Many had been lying in the sun for hours and I was surprised that nobody showered. Perhaps a polite notice recommending that guests shower is in order? The pool is not chlorinated (i believe it has a uv filter system). Maybe it’s just me... showering before swimming on a hot day, drenched in sweat seems like a good idea.

From beginning to end this hotel was excellent. We were an adult family of 4 on a 5 night stay. The check in was great, we were upgraded upon arrival to seaview rooms which were breathtaking. The pool service was quick and easy, the breakfast was delicious and varied, and all the staff were so lovely. Special thanks to the friendly breakfast/pool bar waiter, I didn't get this name but he was so chatty and always remembered us, and the fact that I take almond milk! This hotel was the safest-feeling I've been to since covid restrictions began.
We ate at the pool bar twice for lunch and it was superb, however it's expensive compared to restaurants down in the town. We didnt dine in the hotel in the evening so can't comment other than it looked lovely when passing by.
The pool area fills up quickly and I know it was full on our last two days (weekend days) however we always found 4 beds together after breakfast quite easily. They lift your towels if you've reserved sunbeds which I like as it's only fair and that way everyone gets one and there's no scramble at 8am or anything.
Our room was cleaned to a high standard daily. The rooms are lovely, my only gripe was the shower is quite small, however there is a bath too if you like that.
Cascais itself is beautiful and charming, with excellent restaurants. It's around a ten minute picturesque walk to the centre from the hotel. We loved our stay and we will be back to Miragem!

Having stayed here twice before with friends I wanted to take my husband away for a 5 day break & knew he’d appreciate this wonderful hotel.
Well appointed on the outskirts of the town and in easy walking distance to the centre, seafront & train station it’s a fabulous place to explore Cascais and further afield . 30 mins from Lisbon and a bus ride from Sintra ..
The staff in the bar area and waiting staff at breakfast can’t do enough for you. They are attentive but not intrusive and make you feel welcomed at all times. The food was also very good and breakfast 1st class.
The spa is wonderful , hard to beat, quiet, we never met another person and we went every day. Well designed, luxurious and with two pools, a salt pool, sauna , steam room and rain shower a perfect place to unwind.
We will be back thank you again for a wonderful visit

NOT A FIVE STAR the hotel looked lovely, the spa looked amazing. The out door pool was freezing not normal for 5* the spa was luke warm instead of being a relaxing temperature you had to keep moving to keep warm, the breakfast was terrible for a 5* a warm buffet with little selection cheap bacon sloppy egg, you had to pay extra for water with your meal. Even in a 3* you wouldn’t expect to pay. At dinner there where several causes the dinner was excellent they came round with bread asked if we wanted olive oil gave us 2 tiny dishes with not enough in for a bread role then charged us €5 euros each but never mentioned that it didn’t come as part of the meal. 5*hotels don’t do that ever. The tiles around the pool where all cracked you had to go to the bar for your drinks. The drinks where defiantly 5* prices €16 euros for Bombay gin and tonic. We where so disappointed had the rating been 3* or even 4 I would of had no complaints. There where no coffee and tea facilities in the room nowhere to get water or ice. The room was the worst position in the hotel even though I had paid for a deluxe room. The balcony was in the shade and was quarter the size of the others. My husband didn’t sleep because the pillows where not comfy. There where greasy finger marks all around the handles of the wardrobes.

Staff - Brilliant, they cannot do enough for you. They provide a waiter service round the pool and literally every member of staff I spoke to during my stay went over and above. Special mention to the young man that works in the indoor pool / spa reception area…

Room - we were on the 9th floor and had a view of the pool and the sea (amazing view). The room is spacious and the bed was huge and really comfortable. They seemed to clean the room 3 x per day and we always had treats left and I loved the chocolate I received with the turn down service each evening.
They also provide slippers (ones that fit and I am a size 10 + robes).

Breakfast - great location, indoor / outdoor options to sit. Lots of hot / cold options + and omelette station. Tip - coffee they serve is bang average but if you ask for a cappuccino/ Latte etc….. they will make fresh no problem at all.

Outdoor Pool - lots of loungers, always space amazing view (located on the 3rd floor so view of harbour and sea), comfy, pool bar and an amazing looking pool however…. Water is freezing, pool is not heated and in middle of August and 28 degrees and it’s like endurance to stay on for more than 5 minutes.

Negatives - not many but it’s the little things that I feel prevent a 5star review.

The main atrium is glass and has an outdoor waterfall cascading down and looked amazing on day 1 and then it broke and now we look at a ton of very water stained glass,
the wellness pool area - the salt water bath didn’t work all week and in general the whole area is a little tired.

Decor - it is nice and spotlessly clean but I agree with other reviews that the green baize on the bedroom veranda is tired and in general just ever so slightly dated. They painted over the marble from 4th to 9th floors and just looks a little scruffy.

Restaurant / Bar - absolutely lifeless in the evening and we chose to eat out as zero atmosphere in the hotel + virtually double the price of eating / drinking in town (10 minutes walk away). The cocktails are nice and we had one every evening on our way out as we felt sorry for the lovely staff (around €54 for 3 cocktails & we got the same 3 for €24 100 yards away)

Despite the niggles I am likely to return one day as Cascais has so much to offer that I did not see on a 7 day trip and overall we ddi enjoy our stay

Yes it all depends on the occupancy of the hotel because the pool area is not that big and there is not that many lounges around. But don’t forget you have got the massive beach right opposite the hotel which you can rent a lounger.
