Detailed Reviews
My husband & I have just returned from another stay at Hotel Baia Cascais. We spent 4 nights here on this occasion ,in a sea view room .Despite the upheaval of the last 2 years it is great to see business continuing as normal here .I do feel however standards have slipped slightly ,while breakfast is adequate the produce could be of superior quality and replenished more frequently each morning .More deep cleaning I feel is needed in general in the hotel and the cleaning of bedrooms should be completed earlier in the day.Maintenance /upkeep needs attention in places also. There appears to be a large number of staff in general who for the most part are friendly & helpful but some need to work on their customer service skills particularly at reception as this is where first impressions are created ,most are very welcoming & aim to please the customer just not all !! The staff on duty at breakfast could also improve their people skills and appear to be ready to help where needed !
Overall a very nice stay ,sea view rooms while really nice can lead to sleep deprivation due to a lot of noise ,more so in the summer period so would recommend a city view room during peak times .We have opted for this in the past .We enjoyed our stay at the hotel ,location is fantastic and we look forward to a return visit in 2023 .
Any criticism is very minor & easily rectified and only mentioned to aid in improving the running standards of the hotel not with the intention of being negative .

The hotel room was really clean, the fittings were all very modern (lovely bathtub!), bed was comfy and the cleaner cleaned the rooms everyday. The breakfast was really good and the hotel generally felt covid safe. The location is great, a little beach is just across the road and it’s about a five minute walk through the town to another couple of really nice beaches (and the train station). If you are looking for the hotel, aim for the ferris wheel! Its right in front of it. Some of the rooms have a sea view but if you don’t get a sea view room the city/(little) mountain view it is also really nice.
The reason for my low score is because the hospitality is lacking, there was very little warmth and generally the staff weren’t at all friendly (though not rude). I had an issue with my bathtub because the drain plug was stuck, I asked them to fix it and their solution was to pull it out with your hands when needed, which is fine as a temporary fix my own home but not what I would expect in a hotel.

I have visited Cascais every year since 2010 and nearly always stayed at the Hotel Baia. This year I stayed there 3 times because I feel very comfortable with all the precautions taken in respect of Covid 19.
The location is perfect with a view over the harbour. The rooms are very tastefully decorated , including a great shower and provide a sea resort flair. I love the way you can watch the sunrise from your bed. I also enjoy sitting on the great rooftop terrace in the afternoon.
The breakfast buffet leaves nothing to be desired and the staff is very helpful and takes all necessary precautions. I also had dinner in the Restaurant a couple of times which was very good. I hope to be back next year.

Wow, what a terrible stay for family traveling with two young kids!
After a long day of travel from NYC to Portugal, we were excited to arrive at Hotel Baia in Cascais. The hotel lobby was bright, modern and elegant but any hope of a relaxing vacation ended there. Yes, the location is fantastic but if you get one of the “family rooms”, I would CAUTION you against booking there because the room you get (we stayed at 102) was nothing like what we imagined and was a terrible experience for families, especially when you have an infant and a toddler for many reasons:
(1) The room required you to go up some steps to get to the door and once you enter, it required you to go down some steps to get to the living quarters. This made things very difficult when you are trying to get little kids and strollers in and out of the room.
(2) The room doesn’t have a mini fridge, which seems like a basic amenity in any decent hotel. So in order for me to store or retrieve my breast milk or any other perishable food, I would have to go down to the lobby every time to ask them to put or take out the items in their fridge, which was incredibly inconvenient. I don’t even know if they stored my breast milk properly because when I got them back, the milk tasted and smelled funny so I had to throw away at least 20 oz of milk which pained me to no end.
(3) The crib we requested for our baby was totally unusable. The pack and play they brought to our room had a mattress pad that was flimsy with one side being higher than the other. The pad itself was much too soft for an infant and when you press down on the pad, you can actually feel it go through the bottom bars holding up the pack and play. How is this safe for an infant or any child to sleep in at all? How do they not check this before giving it to a guest?!
(4) No one came to clean our room during our 48 hour stay even though we hung up the sign asking someone to do so.
(5) The room itself was less than pleasant. The bathroom was the only thing that looked like may have been recently renovated but even that is unclear because the bathroom had a mildewy smell when you walk in. The beds, table, shelf and whatever other furniture they had in the room looked like they were leftover furniture that they did not want to use in the new rooms. The standing lamp they had in the room did not even work. And the windows looked out to vents and other electrical units so we kept the curtains closed the whole time, which made the room looked even more dreary and depressing.
What they called as the “family room” was not family friendly at all, and it made traveling with a family more stressful and frustrating. We did not want to spend anytime in our room and it was bad enough where we decided to leave early. The room was really off brand and should not have been rented out at all. Beyond disappointed.

+1
Loved the location and the rooftop was perfect for the intense heat. Cool down in the undercover pool after sunbathing on the rooftop, staff 5* service and all drinks/snacks were fab! Buffet breakfast was also great, perfect selection provided and staff 5* service again.
Unfortunately, our room allocation was not the best, placed next to the fire exit stairwell meaning the room shape and layout was somewhat compromised compared with your ‘normal’ hotel room layout. Clean room but no toiletries provided other than hand wash and a shower gel within the shower. The hotel will also not provide you with an iron, you are required to pay for laundry/ironing service.
I experienced a few issues which I had reported on the second day of our stay, one plug point under the bed was unusable due to someone previous adaptor pins being stuck in it and also the extractor fan in the bathroom did not work at all. I followed my request up on day 3/4 but there was no resolve and nothing mentioned to me at checkout. Room number was 224.
Location was perfect and again the rooftop made the experience much more pleasant but unfortunately I would not rush to book a room here again.

Not the best value but exceptional location facing beach. Service is minimal, and the roof pool is hidden from the sea not ideal. Restaurant and roof bar reasonable cost though. I booked a sea view and then standard room, the standard rooms are actually smaller and less well-equipped despite costing more which is weird.

The view from our room was simply beautiful and we really enjoyed waking up to the sunrise from our room.
Our room 235-7 was very comfortable and was only let down by the close proximity of the Irish bar next door that plays live music from 10pm-2am. It was so loud it sounded like they were in our room, I suggest if your on this side of the hotel you ask to move or get industrial strength earplugs.
We did complain to the front desk about this the next morning to be met with one of the staff saying this is the centre of Cascais what do you expect, not very helpful by any means, another member of staff did offer to refund the rest of our stay if we wanted to move to another hotel or they could move us to 2 separate rooms at the hotel but this wasn't ideal for us as a family as we were only there for a long weekend.
The breakfast at the hotel was nice, they did cooked breakfast and also had fruit, cereals and tea/coffee facility's.

Rooms are very small
Staff has no hospitality at all I spent 3 nights there and I think only one of the staff has give smile to me. They are not smiling to the guests at all just poker faces.
Worst system in the breakfast, you can wait for 30 minutes in a queue as there is only two people is serving in the buffet and you are not allowed to pick your items by yourself. I thought that they are obliged from the government to do so but I stayed in two other hotels after that and everything was normal.
Even the food at the breakfast is not good and has very few varieties.
I requested a water boiler because my baby needs hot water at night for his formula , they refused
The breakfast should be finished at 10 AM, at 9 AM I find that the chocolate croissant had been finished I asked the chef when it will be available again he told me no we will not make any more untill I called the supervisor and he order them to make from it again.

We arrived 3 hours early to Hotel Baia, jetlagged and tired after almost 10 hours of flight from US. We really didn't think we could get access to the room so early. But Surprise, they gave us our room and we were able to get a quick nap, refresh ourselves and start our day exploring Cascais.
Our accommodation was PERFECT! We had a balcony ocean view room with a great view of the bay; a perfect spot to sit and watch the sailboats.
The queen bed was comfortable, and having a small fridge to put our drinks and snacks in was a plus. Also very good, reliable WIFI connection. This hotel was made for a perfect stay in Cascais.
After dinner at O Pescador - very good seafood restaurant very close to the hotel -we decided to sit in the quiet lounge, a nice spot to enjoy an after dinner port wine.
The breakfast area was very nicely done with a good variety of offerings, and the coffee machine made delicious cappuccino.
The front desk staff were friendly and very helpful.
We hope to come back to Cascais and will stay again at Hotel Baia.
Recommendation for lunch - try Hifen, from the hotel it is a short walk along the bay toward the marina. It is a small, lovely place to enjoy a delicious lunch.
