The Pestana Cascais Ocean & Conference Aparthotel garners mixed reviews, with its tranquil and conveniently located setting earning high marks from guests eager to discover nearby attractions and indulge in local cuisine. While the service is often lauded for its friendliness and attentiveness, some guests have encountered inconsistency.
Room opinions vary, with size and comfort receiving praise, but cleanliness and maintenance falling short for some. Despite a selection of appreciated amenities like a good breakfast and pool, the hotel's value is questioned due to issues such as overpricing and unsatisfactory food quality.

Detailed Reviews
We booked a week at this hotel for my wife and me to include breakfast.
We arrived at reception about 3 hours before check in time to be told our room was ready. Collected the key and off we went.
1st error.
In Portugal a “Double” room is twin beds.
Went back down to reception and explained that we would like a room with a double bed. Fortunately we had a very helpful receptionist who sorted us out a double room and even managed a sea view also. Normally this would incur a different price, but we were not charged for this.
There is ample and free parking at the hotel.
Breakfast each day was served between 8am & 11am and consisted of a choice of cooked breakfast, fresh fruits, continental meats and cheeses, cereals and yoghurts, fruit juices, a selection of teas and coffee. All foods were replenished quickly when needed. Busiest times were between 9 & 10am.
We only had one evening meal at the hotel on the first evening. This was a buffet menu which we are not fans of and at a cost of €30 each we decided to eat at various local restaurants for the remainder of our stay.
The room itself was spacious with a large and comfortable bed, a good sized TV, a small fridge with a small electrical cooking stove and plates and mugs for coffee and light snacks. Good lighting in the room.
The bathroom was compact with a good over bath shower with plentiful hot water all day. No plugs for either hand basin or bath, but possibly available at reception.
Daily cleaning of the room with replacement towels was very good.
Although our stay was in November we did require the air conditioning in the room.
All in all we were very pleased with our stay at the hotel and cannot speak highly enough of all staff here.
Thank you.
All in all great value.

Lovely spacious room with balcony overlooking the marina! The bathroom was a little outdated with no walk-in shower but only a minor point.
This is a very large hotel which is part of the renovated 16th century Citadel and can only be accessed by car through the gates and across the square. Unloading of the car can be done outside and the car then parked in an underground secure car park close by.
The hotel cannot be accessed from the car park.
However, the help given with luggage by the porter was very much appreciated and delivered to the room. This was reversed when we left with the porter again taking all our luggage from the room to the car parked in front.
Reception staff were professional. Servicing the room was quite late but when asked the housekeeping staff did there best to clean the room when we returned in the afternoon - they have a lot of rooms to service!
Breakfast was lovely on the roof with great views - we were lucky with weather and we were able to sit outside with our dog every morning! Choices were good, and hot food can be ordered; the staff were cheerful and helpful!
We used both pools during our stay and the indoor was small but lovely and the outdoor roof top pool was also OK with loungers.
The walk to the outdoor pool was lengthy....the walk anywhere inside the hotel can be long depending on where you are located and you can easily lose your way.......however, we found a quick way to the outside opposite the lovely marina with some very good shops and restaurants!
The hotel was also a reasonable 15 minutes walk into the lovely town of Cascais with lots of places to eat and drink and shopping!

We stayed at the beginning of June for just over a week.
We had a superior room with a fantastic large balcony. It is a shame with such a lot of space on it they don't provide loungers, only the same two chairs and table as the smaller balconies. The room decor is very nice and the bed was huge and comfortable. The bathroom although a little dated had a great shower, do bring your own hairdryer though, the 70s blower in the bathroom would take a week to dry your hair!
The kitchenette is handy but does not have a kettle.
We found all the front of house staff really friendly and helpful when we dealt with them.
The cleaners unfortunately do not keep the same standard, they were quite noisy early morning in the hallways and rooms they were cleaning, including playing music on their phones. We also found they didn't really do a very good job of cleaning, we put the tag to request clean sheets on our bed and they were not changed (small mark on them made us aware they were the same sheets all week) There was also a mark from a cup I made on the bedside table which stayed for over half the week before we left which was very obvious and not easy to miss. Not enough to complain to reception but just want to point out there is room for improvement.
The pool area is nice and it was lovely to be in a hotel were there were so many loungers and no fighting for space.
Breakfast had a good selection and was always replenished quickly, it could get busy at certain points but as it ran to 11am you had a good amount of time to get a table with no issues at all.
The area is nice and quiet and is well located to go to the restaurants at Casa de Guia, only a five minute walk and loads of choice! little supermarket across the road is handy but a lot more expensive than the Pingu Doce 4 min walk away. Boca Do Inferno is a 15 minute walk and 30 minutes will get you in to Cascis town on back road or 35/40 via Boca Do Inferno and the Marina. Both were nice walks.
We would definitely stay at this hotel again if in Cascais as any negatives are far outweighed by the positives.

We spent a week with bed and breakfast.
The attention from the employees is without a doubt the best thing about this hotel, especially the one received by the receptionist Jacob.
The rooms are good but nothing more, the mattresses are really uncomfortable and the pillows are the same, the walls have many stains in need of an urgent coat of paint.
In the bathroom, the sink did not drain, the shower screen pours more water out than in.
Regarding the cleaning service, when we arrived, the towels were not placed for a single day, the pillow came out of the cover and they did not bother to put it back in when making the bed. The feeling we got was that they simply make the bed and scrub the floor, completely forgetting about the bathroom (a very important part). We ran out of soap in the shower and it was not refilled either. I understand that all this is due to the large volume of work and the short time that they will impose per room, but for the price that is paid per night in this type of hotel, the cleaning It should be something to give much more importance to.
The breakfast is good but there is such a volume of people that what you could do in 20 minutes, you have to spend 40 between waiting.
Highlight the facilities that are super good, both the outdoor and indoor pool, I can't say the same about the sun loungers that are already completely worn out.

Me and my family stay here as a package for the Ibercup soccer tournament for 8 days.
The reception and foyer at the hotel is subpar for having 4+ rating. At the receptionist desk they insisted that they could not get my wife and I a queen bed room and we should be happy with 2 twins beds in separate rooms. Fortunately for us, we had friends with us that spoke Portugalize an was persistent in getting us our room.
The food for 8 days was a buffet style for breakfast and dinner. This was a part of the package deal when we booked. Not once did they change the menu. It was the same powder eggs and crepes and waffles for breakfast. The fruits and vegetables were also very stale as if it was cut days prior and reused each day.
The dinner was even worse. We thought we come to eat Portuguese delicacy, but it was premade frozen foods. Very disappointing and not very appetizing.
On my last night one of managers/workers named Marco.B approached and wanted to inform me that I can only eat once at the buffet. He mentioned that he saw me take a slice of pizza earlier and I can’t come back. I had left to get my son food elsewhere as initially when I arrived at the buffet I realized my son couldn’t eat anything presented as he had a nut allergy and they were not able to accommodate it. They call this a buffet, very insulting.
The cleaning staff was under pressure and was always in a haste. On several times they left their cleaning cloth, a dirty pillow case or did not clean the shower.
The swimming pool is probably has several times the required level of chlorine. Your eyes start burning within 5 mins of entering the pool.
The overall experience is negative and I would not recommend staying here for any reason. Especially during Ibercup season.

We booked into this hotel as had not stayed there previously. We would stay there again but would like to point out the below.
On our arrival just after 1430 and our room was not ready, even though website states check in is 1400 . The reception staff did not appear that bothered, they only advised us to have a walk around the hotel and use the facilities, how could we when all our holiday clothes were in our suitcases, so we could use the pool or anything.
The hotel coach/bus to the centre of Cascais we were advised by reception it was not running but the hotel is situated within a easy 20/25 min walk of the centre of Cascais or the Marina.
The Hotel itself was clean but a bit worn in places, but there was no readily available information on things like what the menu in the restaurant was or how the Sauna worked. we even had to ask about the times for breakfast, which turned out to be between 0730 -1130. the Breakfast was buffet style and there was lots of choice from cooked food (Bacon, Eggs and sausage) to cheeses and breads. I loved it.

+1
The hotel is reasonably well located in a nice suburb of the beautiful town of Cascais. It’s situated about a 5-10 minute Uber cab ride away which cost around €4 each way, there is also a bus and the hotel offer a shuttle into town at 10am each day, free of charge.
Check in was efficient and quick and we made our way to our “ De Luxe Sea View room “. The room was ok but the bathroom was ‘tired’ and in need of some improvements. Most people in the UK would have a different idea of “De Luxe” unfortunately.
The shower screen door didn’t keep the shower water in the bath unless we wedged it shut with a piece of loo paper !!!
The bath was a bit slippery when showering, and we asked for a bath mat which arrived eventually.
However, our main issue was how hard our beds were and the hotel didn’t have any “Toppers” but instead provided my wife with an extra duvet to lay on which did help.
My wife spoke to “Antonio” the hotel manager who was very nice and helpful, and offered us another room, which we accepted.
The staff here are Fantastic, particularly Andre and Paula on reception, and also Roque from the bar area. They are very friendly, helpful and spoke excellent English. They are an asset and a credit to Pestana Hotels.
Breakfast was good, cereals, fruit, cakes, hot food etc and we couldn’t fault it at all. The staff again worked very hard during the busy breakfast period.
Dinner was almost as good, with a different menu each night, usually soup, fish, meat vegetables etc
The hotel has an outdoor pool which was quite cold although some guests did use it. The indoor pool was more comfortable although it was disappointing that the jacuzzi was out of action.
The hotel has nice gardens and it was never a problem to get a sun bed
Our Tour Operator , Easy Jet Holidays, advertises that the hotel offers “ Evening Entertainment “ and a “ Kids Club, but I can confirm that neither exist !!
We loved Cascais and would consider returning to this hotel IF we could be assured of a “ Topper” on our bed.

This is a large hotel very near the sea in Cascais. I paid €65 for an airport taxi from the airport to the hotel at 9:00pm on a weekday but only €29 for an Uber from the hotel to the airport at 5:00pm on a Sunday.
The hotel is large and the communal areas well kept.
My room was large but there were no coffee/tea making facilities although there was a small kitchen. There was no iron or ironing board in the room.
Some of the fittings in the room were showing their age eg I could only open the drawers below the safe with great difficulty and the sliding door infront of them could not be opened or closed.
Breakfast was good but can get very busy, so you end up waiting for ages to get a coffee.
The staff at reception were excellent and accommodating.
If you stay here, make sure you visit Boca de Inferno which is 15 min walk away.
Overall a good hotel but rooms need some modernisation.

Hotel located near Casa da Guia, where we find very good restaurants and with views of the mouth of hell. The breakfast was perfect, with the staff always replenishing it, ensuring that nothing was ever missing. The person who checked us in was Mrs. Paula Silva, who was very professional and friendly, whenever she was at the reception and saw us, she was worried about whether our stay was going well and whether we needed help.

Hi Sarah. I would think that whatever time you check out the hotel would store your bags for you and allow the use of facilities until time to leave for the airport.
