Located in Praça da República, in Coimbra’s heart the heart of the city, the Despertar Saudade Local Lodge is in a building dating to the 1940’s, specifically rebuilt for the purpose of hosting tourists providing our best amenities. Its reception is open 24 hours a day and it displays contemporary accommodations. The hotel consists of three double rooms with separate kitchenette, a simple double room, a triple room, and four single rooms. Every room has thematic decor related to the history of the city, all with air conditioning, cable TV, free Wi-Fi access, and private bathroom with shower, reading area with desk, a fridge, microwave oven, and kitchen utensils ( cups, glasses and others which allow basic food preparation). Some rooms have a balcony with view to the Praça. Despertar Saudade presents varied features that allow event/ venue creation on its terraces, providing a professional team that will be delighted to help and support guests in whatever is necessary. Jardim da Sereia («Mermaid» Garden) is 150 meters (490 feet) away from the Lodge, and the Alta, where you can find the University of Coimbra, classified as World Heritage by UNESCO, is about 10 minutes walking. Our central location allows quick access to all major city historical locations, on foot, or by public transportation. In the immediate vicinity, guests will find countless restaurants and bars, night bars and clubs, university canteens, post offices, banks, and several tourist attractions including, amongst others, the Gil Vicente Academic Theatre (TAGV) and the famous Biblioteca Joanina (Joanina Library) of the University of Coimbra.
