Hotel do Colégio is a boutique hotel run in a manor house, built on the 19th century, during the golden age of the trade of orange between Ponta Delgada and England. With a privileged location, in the historical city centre, we are a unique hotel, that combines the charm of the time it was built with all our modern comforts. In 2017, we started a new cycle and present you a renewed hotel, with a better environment, image and decoration, as well as the excellence service we've always put an effort to provide.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed at this property for 3 nights with a friend. The hotel was in a good location. It was all in all an average hotel nothing really terrible or to write home about. The wifi was decent as was the included breakfast. It had a very small pool we did not use. We had dinner one night in the attached Asian restaurant which was also average but very convenient. I would recommend this hotel as it did the job.

We stayed here one night before we left the Azores, we wanted to see Punto Delgado. Its a very nice boutique hotel in the old part of the city, built into an old music school building. Very tasteful and interesting conversion, central court yard with a pool open to the sky. Free breakfast, good but limited, the same room is an asian fusion restaurant in the evening, it was very good. The rooms were a little on the small side, but nicely appointed and very clean. The hotel is in the heart of the old city, a few blocks from the harbor and the old fort, which has an interesting military museum. The old center of the city is beautiful, lots of bars and restaurants and shops, but note many shops are closed on Sundays. The newer part of the city is not nearly as interesting.

Stayed here for a few days as part of a group trip. Rooms were nice, a good size. Nice soap in the bathroom (not all European hotels provide a bar of soap). Friendly hotel staff - great for directions. Nice pool area, though too cold to swim. Good breakfast in the morning - always good fruit, nice jams, excellent cheese. Others told me the yogurt was outstanding. Very convenient location - there is a laundromat down the street, if that is of interest. Can walk to just about everything you may need to get to - cafes, grocery, harbor. Only drawback was our room faced the side street and there were often very loud people on the street - sound really carried!

Great location in Ponta Delgada - walkable to just about everything, but not too busy or noisy outside. We found Ponta Delgada a great base for the island overall. Free parking in their underground car park (with car elevator), but as others have said, the entrance is a bit tricky and only really suitable for smaller cars. If you do have a larger car, or don't want to put it in the car park every time, the on-street parking is cheap, if you can find a space. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and will always gladly help you getting the car in and out. Overall, definitely recommended and we would happily return.

We stayed at this hotel for a week when on a whale watching holiday with Archipelago Choice. Very helpful staff. Reception staff were fluent in English and all the other staff knew enough to get by. Well appointed and clean room. If you want tea making equipment ask at the reception. Ideally sited as a short walk from the harbour, museums and botanical gardens. Good choice at breakfast. The restaurant specialises in east Asian food so limited choice from our point of view. great if your a lover of sushi. No problem as there are plenty of cafes and restaurants in the harbour area and the town squares.

Restaurant staff made us feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable because we were not staying at the hotel and didn’t have a reservation. We stayed at the hotel before and had a nice experience, se we decided to have dinner at the restaurant now that we came back, even though we chose to stay somewhere else. It was very disappointing. The staff made us feel uncomfortable for not having a reservation and found us a table near the door, which we understood since we didn’t have a reservation, but the worst part was the way we were spoken to. We just said thank you and walked out to find another place to eat which, thankfully, is not very difficult in Ponta Delgada.

Great people in a prime location. A repurposed school with comfortable rooms, refrigerator and basic ammenities. Morning breakfast was quite nice. It was quiet, everything worked well. Linens and towels are perfectly clean and fresh. They made our visit

We stayed 5 nights at Hotel do Colégio and we were not disappointed that we chose to stay there during our vacation on the island of Sao Miguel. We had a superior room and it had everything we possibly need. The bed was large and conformable, the toilet was big and everything was very clean. The hotel itself is right in the center of Ponta Delgada with many shops and restaurants nearby. The breakfast had everything we need to start our days before going out and exploring the island, different types of breads, cakes, croissants, eegs, bacon, juices, etc. The hotel was very quite during our stay. If we ever come back to Ponta Delgada we certainly will stay again at Hotel do Colégio

We stayed at this lovely hotel the end of September. Great location in the city. Beautiful old hotel with nice common areas as well as our rooms. My room was a small double and had all I needed. The breakfast was delicious and had variety. Too cold to use the pool. Delicious dinner and friendly staff.
