The Jupiter Marina Hotel garners praise for its professional staff and efficient service, particularly at the popular rooftop bar and by the pool. Guests enjoy the hotel's prime location near the beach and local attractions, as well as the modern atmosphere enhanced by live music. While the rooms are clean and well-furnished, some visitors have noted a preference for the quieter garden rooms due to road noise in river view rooms.
The amenities, including the rooftop pool and shuttle service, are well-liked despite occasional sun lounger shortages and perceived high costs. Cleanliness throughout the hotel is consistently commended. However, concerns are raised about the value, with guests pointing out hidden fees and expensive extras.

This hotel was very well kept and a great location if you want to be away from the bustle of the main drag in Praia de Rocha.
You can walk to the centre of Portimao or to the beach in 10-15 minutes.
The pool was on the roof and surrounded with gravel which was a bit hard on the feet so take some flip flops. Astro turf would have been a better choice.
The hotel is situated on a main road and the views from the rooms at the front of the hotel are of the port and estuary so no see view and the noise from the road makes sitting on the balcony a little noisy but great for watching the work go by.
The restaurant had a very good choice of dishes and in the evening it is al a carte service and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

We stayed from 5th of May to 13th on a B&B basis however we did eat on several evenings in the restaurant. I have only good things to say about the staff and food in the hotel. Our whole stay from start to finish was lovely. The location of the hotel is a little distance from the beach but to be honest we enjoyed the walks there and back and there are plenty of taxis and buses. We sadly missed out on the main town as we only went into it properly on the last evening and were amazed at the selection of dining outlets x there is the beautiful promenade near the marina and plenty of bars on the beachfront strip. Loungers on the beach cost 6 euros each but you got 10% off food and access to toilets in the tropical bar (food was cheap and delicious there would recommend that too) all in all a great experience and we will return to this clean friendly hotel it’s very modern and the pool and bar on the roof are amazing x loved it . Best last minute holiday ever 👍

Our stay here was amazing! when we arrived we were a little disappointed with our welcome as we were a couple of hours early for room and were told to come back later- we completely understood as we were early for check in time. When we did return we were literally handed a room key, nothing was explained with how their facilities worked.
When we got to our room, it was immaculate! the room was large with a lovely view of the marina from the balcony, big bed, spacious bathroom and lots of storage. The cleaning services were great with the maids cleaning the room quickly and it always being spotless.
Breakfast was faultless. big selection buffet with staff attentive and friendly. We were greeted every morning with a smile by Ines which was lovely. Dinner included 3 courses with our half board package which had lots of options including one vegetarian option. There was a wide drinks selection especially at the Arade bar on the rooftop. All the facilities in the restaurant and bar were clean and modern. We were regularly served by Paolo who was friendly and attentive throughout our stay.
We used additional facilities offered but were only made aware of these via social media. We used the indoor pool facilities which included added extras and hired the bikes for a day which was amazing as its a lovely quaint location perfect for a bike ride. Beach is only a 15min walk and regular shuttle buses are available.
Overall, our stay was absolutely faultless! We would like to thank all of the staff at the hotel who made our stay and as a young couple travelling for the first time, it was really nice and made our holiday. Thanks :)

We had a 6 night stay and we really enjoyed our experience. We had an early flight, arrived at the hotel mid-morning so understandably we were too early to check into our room, but we had the option of relaxing in the reception area with a variety of drinks and homemade biscuits. We were able to leave our belongings in the secure baggage area and explore the rest of the hotel and beyond. We had booked a river view room (room 242). It was an end room on the corner of the 2nd floor. It came with a much larger balcony compared to others. Our room was clean, spacious, light and airy. The bed was firm and very comfortable for us. Shower every day hot and powerful. Wi-Fi was very easy to connect to, a good speed, and very reliable throughout our stay.
We had 1 morning (on day 3) where we noticed a trail of ants coming from the bathroom, following the skirting along the edge of the wall into the bedroom area. On closer inspection, we found the ants were somehow coming from the corridor window into the bathroom and then our room. We notified housekeeping and we never saw another ant for the remainder of our stay.
The only annoyance in our room was having a coffee machine, and the size of the small coffee cups provided. Neither of us are coffee drinkers so we would’ve preferred to have had a standard kettle and mugs in our room to make tea. We asked at reception if they have kettles, but none are provided. We did manage to boil water from the coffee machine, so we found a work-around, but the cups were small. It would be good if the size of the mugs could be the same as what is provided in the restaurant.
Breakfast every morning was plentiful, with everything you could think of to suit all dietary needs. Almost everybody wore their face masks properly when in public areas, and used the alcohol gel on entrance to the restaurant. The gym had a good supply of equipment, inside and out, although we didn’t use it.
We enjoyed using the roof top area for relaxing and drinks. Unfortunately, due to the weather conditions it was too chilly for us to use the rooftop pool, but it looked fantastic. We hadn’t realised when booking the hotel that use of the indoor pool is not included – this pool belongs to the spa so you have to pay extra to use it. We decided to pay €26 for a 90 minute slot in the pool (included sauna and steam room etc), and decided it was just about worth it.
We found all the members of staff to be very courteous and helpful. We had asked the reception team on our first evening for local restaurant recommendations and between them they gave us a handful of restaurant names. We were not disappointed by any of the restaurants we tried.
We would highly recommend the Jupiter Marina Hotel and would certainly consider returning if we were in the area again.

Dear Sunrise83, We are truly thankful for your recent visit and for having shared this detailed and positive feedback about your experience at Jupiter Marina Hotel Couples & Spa. We are very happy to know how much you enjoyed the hotel facilities, in particular, the comfort of the room. Once again we are so sorry for the situation experienced with the ants. We inform you that we have equipped all rooms with a kettle and truly regret that none was provided when you requested as it was part of our procedures to provide one. We thank you for your kind words referring to our team and it is a true pleasure to share your comments with all of them. Looking forward to welcoming you another time soon. This hotel is primarily for couples. My wife and I (50+}together with my daughter and her friend (21Yrs) stayed here for a week in August 2022. The hotel is very clean and our rooms, which were both doubles on the first floor and rear facing were well maintained with house keeping and fresh towels daily. There is a mini fridge, which contains a small selection of drinks, these are chargeable items, a coffee machine and a kettle within the rooms. There are also usb sockets for device charging. The hairdryer in the bathroom is not the most powerful and takes a while to dry long thick hair. Breakfast at the hotel provides a very good choice of hot food, fresh fruit, pastries and includes omelettes cooked to order. There is both a Spa and Gym within the hotel, located on the lower ground floor. The gym is 24 hrs but the spa opens at 10, the spa provides beach towels, which can be used by the pool, these can be changed at the spa daily and must be returned to the spa at the conclusion of your stay to avoid charges. Guests do reserve the sun beds around the pool area which sometimes leaves late risers with no availability. (There were towels laid out on some beds at 6 & 7 in the morning during our stay) There is an area behind the Bali beds that often goes unnoticed and also contains a number of sun beds. The roof area is in my opinion the hotels best feature. The pool is excellent and spotless, the bar area is also very nice and provides excellent service from attentive and engaging staff, we found all the hotel staff to be very nice and helpful. Drinks ordered at the bar are delivered to your sun-bed by staff upon request. The food and drink from the bar is very good. There was a daily programme of evening entertainment at the bar during our stay with either a DJ or live singer.
The hotel is located on a main road overlooking the river, it is about a 20 min walk to the main beach and strip. The old town area is slightly closer. We used Ubers to get around and found them excellent and VFM. The hotel arranged our private airport transfer at 140 Euro for four passengers. This was for pick up and Rtn to Faro airport. Check out is midday, late check out is available upon request, we were only offered an extra hour when I spoke to reception as the hotel was fully booked. This is a nice hotel and I would recommend it from my experience of staying here.

Just arrived back from a brilliant 5 night stay in Jupiter Marina. This hotel is spotlessly clean, rooms and spaces nicely decorated with an amazing infinity pool and bar. The pool can be cold but after some sunbathing and 2 mins in there you get used to it.
The maids would come into the rooms daily, change towels, make the beds etc and all the staff were so helpful when we asked for taxis, crokscrew, room cutlery etc.
Breakfast in the morning has a great choice of hot and cold food and the hash browns were unreal in my opinion. We ate outside as it felt much less cramped and chilled out, and opted for 9.45am breakfast which could get busy.
The bar upstairs has fantastic quality cocktails, food and drinks but I agree with the other comments about it being expensive.
The area surrounding the hotel is very quiet, but if you look on Google maps you will find some lovely little bars and cafes only a 10 min walk away. There's a small bar down the road which specialises in snails - not for us but they had a lovely sagres served in a frozen glass 😍.
Taxis are readily available - we went into Portimão, Praia da rocha and Praia da Alvor which has a stunning beach. There is a free bus transfer but we didn't use it.
Overall a great stay, and definitely one of the nicest hotels we've ever stayed in!

I spent two nights at the hotel and I enjoyed every moment of it.
Upon arrival, the receptionist gave me a top-notch service, giving me all the information I needed and a complimentary room upgrade. They are coping very well with the COVID measurements, I got my ID and credit card back after sanitization from the reception.
My room was overlooking the riverside, the view is super nice, all including a huge balcony. I spent a nice and relaxing time on the roof of the hotel, using the infinity pool and enjoying the view.
The design of the room and the whole hotel was very tasteful and everything was super clean, with hand sanitizers installed all over the facility.
The service in restaurant Facho was amazing, the breakfast everything that you can ask for and the dinner menu included spectacular dishes.
I'm a big fan, would be happy to go back!

Stayed here a week ago, first impressions were very good. The hotel is clean as it is modern and is situated in a lovely location between the beach and the old town of Portimao.
Breakfast was tasty although did get quite busy at times so be prepared to queue for the hot breakfast, it seems it would be beneficial if there was a separate chef for the omelettes to reduce the waiting time for the bacon, sausages etc.
Rooms were of ok size and were cleaned to a high standard every day, my only fault was the bathroom door, this was frosted glass but unfortunately my partner could see straight through this as it was reflected from the mirror opposite the bed so woke up to an unpleasant sight of her other half sitting on the toilet with bright red pants round his ankles. She soon got used to it though!
The Spa was great, the ladys were really helpful especially the masseuses, this was definitely one of the highlights from my stay.
The bar was situated on the rooftop and had nice views and vibes, definitely a good spot to kick off your evening or somewhere to end it.
My biggest complaint with the hotel had to be the pool, the first day we went to lie around the pool for the day. We noticed all the sun loungers had towels on them and were reserved yet there was nobody around. People are putting there towels on the sun loungers first thing on a morning and disappearing for hours, this was a massive inconvenience and a real shame. In the end we started doing the same with the attitude ‘if you can’t beat them, join them’ but even at 9am when the pool officially opens we still couldn’t even get a lounger to ‘reserve’ . This really needs to be looked at, I’m sure I can speak for everyone when I say it would improve all the guests experiences. I would even have signs up saying reserving beds is forbidden around the pool just to prevent people from doing it in the future.
All in all, a lovely hotel with friendly staff and a splendid location but could be improved mainly regarding the pool experience.

Response from Elsa Azevedo, Diretor-Geral at Jupiter Marina Hotel
Responded 22 Sept 2021
Dear JamieLeeds91, We would like to thank you for the time you spent sharing such detailed feedback following your recent visit. We are pleased to know that your overall experience was a positive one and how much you appreciated the hotel location, breakfast, cleanliness, and Spa service. Regarding the comments about the sunbeds in the pool area, we inform that in the implementation of the new hygiene and safety protocol, this area was completely restructured to guarantee the safety distance between guests, so, unfortunately, it is not possible to have sunbeds for all our guests. We have clear signs with the pool regulations where it is stated that it is not permitted to reserve sunbeds. Unfortunately, most guests do not respect this and we have this daily challenge and will keep reinforcing with our guests so that they respect the rules and comply with all measures implemented so that the area can be safely enjoyed by all. Once again we thank you for your time sharing your opinion and wish you all the best. We hope to have a new opportunity to welcome you another time in the future. Our kindest regards from the sunny Portimão, Elsa A.

We have just returned from a week at the Jupiter Marina Hotel and I can’t rate the hotel enough! It’s location is perfect with it only being a 10/20 minute walk to either Praia da Rocha or Portimao. The room was beautiful and the view from the pool even more stunning! They had plenty of options available at breakfast and unlimited tea, coffee and water throughout the day. I can’t comment on the food during the rest of the day as we enjoyed meals out each evening however I can 100% recommend the cocktails at the rooftop bar as they were the best cocktails we enjoyed throughout the week! We found the option to rent and exchange towels throughout the week for the pool at beach extremely useful as it freed up plenty of luggage space as well as allowing us sand free towels the next tower! I would however recommend bringing your own hairdryer if you have thick hair as it took me 45 minutes to dry mine each time.

We spent a week at Jupiter Marina, it was a last minute booking and we selected it because of the location having stayed in Portimao many times before but never in this hotel. It has great views over the marina, book a river view room. Reception area is lovely and staff very helpful and friendly. We loved the free tea/coffee/water available all day, it was lovely to return from a long walk to immediate refreshments! Our room was lovely, always well cleaned, we had tea/coffee facilities and the fridge was really cold ideal for keeping water. Great shower, plenty of storage and free safe. Bed was slightly firm but aren't they always and when I requested softer pillows I got them straight away. We had good sized balcony but the chairs are not that comfy for relaxing in and could be replaced at little cost. The roof top pool is lovely, great views but the shingle stones that the sunbeds sit on are not a great idea, they get everywhere. There is also a lack of sun umbrellas quite a problem when you want shade as there is no other form of shade on the roof. The bar area is lovely, again great views, good snack/drinks menu reasonably priced and a great area in the evening to sit watch the sunset, sip a cocktail and listen to the live music. The staff on the bar area work exceptionally hard and are always friendly. Breakfast was lovely usual choices available and lovely to have fresh squeezed orange juice available. We ate one evening in the hotel, food was grand but as it's an A La Carte menu I think I would have trouble with the choices available. Portimao has many great restaurants available serving local dishes at great prices. The promenade walk is lovely and the old town has many quaint streets, pavement cafes/restaurants. There is a free bus to Pria Da Rocha beach which is a lovely beach but personally I find the main strip of the town to be very tacky and run down and not at all reflects the authenticity of Portugal. We had great week away and would definitely return to the hotel.

Hi, The outdoor/rooftop swimming pool is advertised as a freshwater pool, and its water temperature is subject to weather conditions. The indoor pool is part of our therapeutic Spa circuit and it is heated. Kind regards,
