We were at this Hotel in June for 2 weeks, I will point out the good and the bad, the good ,very clean around pool area and bedrooms sorted out every day ,dinning area very good. The bad, a great deal of the staff were not trained for there roll in the Hotel. eg. Bar staff only one serving at a time cues were sometimes a 10 minute wait. when there was 2 working together , they argued most of the time and 1 would just go and collect glasses making the cue longer. The 2 managers seemed clueless .In the main restaurant the food was of a great selection but a lot of the time the bain/maries were not hot enough to keep the food hot.In all nice Hotel poorly run. would i go again NO.

Great location, few minutes walk to beautiful beach and also cliff top walk well worth doing. Staff very friendly and professional. Helped us with wifi on phone. We requested kettle in our room and it was delivered promptly along with a selection of tea and coffee. The pool area had lovely setting and we always managed to get a sunbed on grassy area away from music as we like to read. Our room on fifth floor had pool and sea views well worth the extra we paid. Beds very comfortable. Air conditioning worked very well. There was show cooking each evening in the buffet restaurant which was served hot but buffet food was generally cold. Snack bar food was good for lunch. I recommend the tuna salad which was substantial and delicious. The red wine, Santa Vitoria, was excellent as was the cocktail of the day. Having read reviews about the Italian restaurant we were expecting this to be special. You order your meal in advance when booking, no problem. We chose bruschetta and to follow asparagus risotto. We had a very long wait for our starter and when it arrived it was inedible, hard and very dry. When risotto eventually arrived it was too runny. I make risotto myself and know how it should be served. We lost patience waiting for dessert and left the restaurant. We went outside for a drink and after a while the manager came with our dessert which was the best part of the meal. This is my worst ever experience in a restaurant. We did note that there was a large group of people from Slovakia celebrating a special occasion and I suspect that this was the reason for our poor service. We enjoyed our week in the Vila Gale Nautico and will most likely return as it is very good value for money. Annette and Connie from Dublin

The hotel itself is fine but there are a few down points. The first being the pool both the main pool and the kids pool are freezing they could do with being heated. The indoor pool and hot tub were filthy and stunk like the filters hadnt been changed in a while. Now for second point people have complained about food before on reviews but the food is average at best and if you're down after 8pm its an aboslute mess there isnt enough staff and the ones who are there dont seem bothered about getting you drinks unless you're portugese. Being all inclusive we didnt expect 5 star dining but its very limited as is the kids area. The snackbar during the day is slow at getting served be it for food or for drinks as they only ever seem to have 1 person on the bar at a time. Another point only minor but a lot of the staff dont seem to have a great grasp of english and you can ask for things 3 or 4 times before you either get what you asked for or they just walk away from you. The area itself is quiet the beach is literally A stones throw away and there are some lovely italians along the sea front. Also you can catch an uber into alberfuria and other areas if you fancied a change of scenary.

As I seem to do all the time I read the reviews after I had booked the hotel, so I was a bit apprehensive after reading some of the negative reviews. I need not to have worried. We arrived at 1:00 o'clock in the morning and there was someone at the reception waiting for us, check in was smooth and we were given an overall outline of the hotel along with a map of the surrounding area and a timetable of the various dining areas and bars. The room was clean with a balcony overlooking the pool area and a very comfy bed. There is a small fridge which contained 4 bottles of water these were topped up each day by housekeeping who also kept the room clean and tidy and replaced the towels every day. I would have liked maybe a sandwich or some fruit to have been available after the journey but this is a small point. The opinion splitting issue of food - I am a very fussy eater but even I found something to eat every day maybe the biggest issue is it is very similar food everyday. One tip I could give would be to always check the children's food area for a different type of food. I found bolognaise and pork loins here when the main selection wasn't to my taste. The daytime snacks were also very good with the burgers and toasties going down very well. if you are staying for a week please book your free night at the Italian restaurant on site, it is very nice but look at the menu before you book as you have to state which meal you are having as it all ordered in. I found the drinks to be very nice and my wife particularly enjoyed the selection of wines. Cleaning of the pool area could be improved with one day it not being cleaned at all. This in my view is unacceptable, even a quick wash down with a hose is better than nothing at all. One thing I did find very worrying was on the Saturday evening just before we were leaving the hotel did a large outside barbecue, after lighting the barbecue it was left unattended for over half an hour with small children running about! Overall I would recommend this hotel we had a very relaxing week in the sunshine and the beach is only a short walk away. There are many trips which can be booked or you can spend your days by the pool or on the beach. The evenings are quiet and relaxing. Overall a very nice week away and it is somewhere I would have no hesitation in booking again.

Read reviews before we went and was a bit worried, turned out to be a really good stay. Negatives first, the food is very limited in choice, not a lot of meat options and often waiting for it to be cooked on grill, this could be more efficient. Breakfast was fine but once again always seemed to be waiting for eggs, couldn't understand why. Cleaning around pool could be better, saw a team of cleaners one morning but that was it. Now for positives, drinks are absolutely fine, wine is good also use decent tonic in drinks. Rooms are really nice, beds are comfortable, could do with a bit more storage though. Snack bar is excellent as are the staff, we did the Portuguese a la carte on our last night and it was excellent! Pools are really nice, not freezing cold as has been suggested. Hotel got busier as the week went on and evening entertainment seemed to get better, as for queues i didn't think it was any worse than other places we've been to. All in all we paid very little for this holiday and think it was well worth the money my 3 year old grandson loved it, if you like fish and you're not a fussy eater you will enjoy it. Also location is fantastic only 2 minutes to beach which is beautiful.

We booked this hotel through Tui. The positives is the hotel is clean the rooms are quite spacious and the outside pool area is very clean, the food on the whole was nice. The negatives is the transfer time was at least 2 hours, and most of the time day and night there was only one person on the bar. In the evening you got a glass of wine with your dinner and if you were lucky you could ask someone for another. It seemed as if they did everything they could to ensure you couldn't get more than one drink. In the evening there would be sometimes as many as twenty people in the queue and only one serving and people were getting very frustrated. It took us fifteen minutes during the day just to get some water. For these reasons I would not recommend this hotel.

We visited this hotel for 7 days in June. This hotel was described as a family hotel it definitely has everything to be a family hotel but the hotel doesn’t go far enough to warrant to be described as a family hotel. The entertainment is ok but could be better the kids entertainment most days was painting or indoor activities which the kids didn’t want to do. The adult entertainment is a little better but they would have more visitors taking apart if the prizes were more than a cocktail you could get at the bar at anytime. Night time entertainment was poor one night of the week there was a kids disco but most of the songs were in Portuguese also didn’t start till 8.30/9 so was quite late for kids The food was good if you willing to try new things a lot of Portuguese food which we didn’t mind but was hard work for the kids to find some to eat lucky they snack was good which a option of burgers, toasties and hot dogs stuff kids enjoy. The hotel had the option of three pools one kids pool one main pool one indoor pool Main pool was good size the shallow end wasn’t very shallow tho Kids pool was good with two slides and a good depth for small kids. Indoor pool was very dirty and stained clothes when the kids went in there. All pool areas were very very slippy saw many kids fall over when they wasn’t even running lucky no one seriously hurt. The rooms were clean and housekeeping was in everyday. We had 3 of us in one double room two adult and a child of 6 there wasn’t much space. The location for is good the beach is a 5 min walk away but there isn’t much else round close by. If you have booked this hotel thinking it will be like hotels in Majorca and Spain then it isn’t like that you have many different nationalities also many Portuguese priority of other guests at the bar and pool areas Overall the hotel was ok like I say it has everything to be a great hotel but doesn’t go far enough to be a family hotel or to be a great hotel someone needs to get hold of this hotel and do things right and it will make this a brilliant hotel. I am not a fussy person and I given my honest opinion.

This hotel, close to the beach in Armação de Pêra, is an affordable gem. The central pool and garden area is particularly lovely. The rooms and bathrooms are generously sized. The beds are a bit hard, but the friendly staff and attractive grounds make up for any shortcomings. There is garage parking available for 7.5 Euros per night.

Positives the pool is clean the rooms are clean Negatives Indoor pool is dirty and dyes your clothes Only 2 people serving at bar and they will ignore you and serve Portuguese people before you, the kids entertainers in the day are really good but they do 2 activity’s in the day around the pool that’s is would not call that a kids club like jet2 advertises evening entertainment we had 3 Portuguese nights which we were excited about to see their dances but it lasted half hour and it was all Portuguese people up dancing and no interaction's to get children involved they didn’t try to teach the children the moves one parent complained as her child got moved out the way to accommodate a Portuguese family dancing this isn’t evening entertainment we expected with a 8 and a 9 year old no little discos no night of bingo which we missed they have a dress up person called nep which when there is no little children about seems silly to do that show each show lasts 1/2 hour to and hour which isn’t evening entertainment to me, there is a games room football table and air hockey costing 1 euro each and to hire the snooker table 7 euros for an hour. The food is hit and miss us adults found something every night and tried lots of new food we enjoyed it it’s very much the same thing every night just different meat /fish like on the grill also another area where if a Portuguese guest comes in and you’ve been waiting for you meat for fish to be cooked they give them yours and you wait again !! The childrens food is lacking ours worked out very quick to eat at the snack bar about 4 and come in the restaurant with us for a pudding later snack bar serves burgers tosties sandwiches and chips and all tasted really nice I can’t fault the food on an adults view but childrens it’s bad, we booked for our meal in the Mediterranean one night this was the best we ate this holiday I also spoke to a French couple who are at the Italian and they said that was really nice but you need to book on arrival as it gets very busy and you end up with 9pm slots. We wouldn’t return to this hotel it’s not family friendly most of the staff struggle to understand English French or German the girl who does the kids entertainment is the only one who understands a few languages and often you have to find her to help you if you have a problem. There is a lot of Portuguese people in the hotel we made friends with a few who we spent the day at the beach with they showed us some lovely shops and places to eat which was really nice, but we found a lot around the hotel were very rude pushed in and even moved people off sunbeds and the staff went along with it serving them first and asking people to move beds as they’re regulars.
