We came here with my partners parents who are in their 70’s.
We had asked for a pool view room and were delighted to discover that we actually got a sea view included.
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very special and safe...in the time of COVID-19 all of the necessary precautions were in place and social distancing was being observed in all public areas including the pool and restaurant areas.
The staff were friendly and welcoming and very professional in their aptitude and application of their tasks.
We were made to feel very welcome and safe at all times and most of the guests followed the masks inside rule at most times.
Food was well cooked and sufficiently diverse enough to ensure that we didn’t get bored during the week and portion sizes were adequate (even for a fat lad).
Rooms were big and immaculately clean and all the normal facilities were in place, fridge, safe etc.
Lunchtime menu was interesting and we actually ate at the pizza place just down the road as art of our half board option, which was great if you like pizza, which you obviously would if you chose to go here!
Prices in the local beach bars (which are only 100 meters or so down the road) are inflated compared to Armação de Pêra were you could generally half the price of food and drink and easily walk there directly down the beach for about 5k in about an hour...20 minutes in a taxi.
We would gladly return here and despite the fact there are only a few bars nearby we didn’t feel isolated in any way.
Overall if you are looking for a quiet relaxing break in great accommodation with great facilities and don’t mind not being in a traditional resort, this is a great choice.

Recently back from a relaxing 12 night holiday at Vila Gale Praia. The location close to one of the Algarve best beaches is superb, just a short walk about 300 metres. The hotel itself is small and very friendly , spotlessly clean with good facilities and well equipped rooms. We choose pool view and had a room on the top floor (3rd) which also had a sea view and faces west so some spectacular sunsets also. Breakfast is included with a good buffet and the chef will also make omelette etc if you like. Lunch is really good value if you don’t go to the beach €6for amazing salads etc. The pool is a good size and was warm and there were plenty of sun beds with comfy cushions on. Didn’t use the spa but it did look very nice. The room had a small balcony but very adequate , robes, slippers, mini bar ..everything you needed was there and the room was kept immaculately during our stay. The restaurant in the evening has a good choice where we ate a few times , we also went to the hotels own Italian restaurant outside which is also open to the public. Great pizza! All the staff were lovely so it wouldn’t be fair to call out just one or two but they really are very nice people throughout ... nothing is too much trouble. Really one of the most pleasant hotel stays we have enjoyed for a long time. Don’t come if you want entertainment and lively atmosphere as the emphasis here is on relaxation and peace. You certainly get that. Will be returning to Vila Gale Praia definitely in the future

We had the absolute pleasure of staying at the Hotel Vila Gale Collection Praia in Feb 2022. The proximity to the beautiful coastline is a 5min walk where you can take choice of boardwalk or waters edge. The hotel far exceeded our expectations in every aspect. It was spotlessly clean, bedrooms were a generous portion and really comfortable. There were plenty of places to relax including the well designed outdoor pool, excellent fitness and indoor jacuzzi and steam rooms and relaxing library/lounge area. To pick some highlights would be the bar and dining experiences as the quality of the food, excellent presentation and top class service was simply amazing. The food and beverage staff had that rare quality of friendly and utterly professional and so looking forward to our evening meal each evening was a super treat. Our only regret was that we had booked one week and have already planned to return.
Tip….taxi fares to the location from the airport are expensive but the hotel organised driver, which we availed on departure, was a little cheaper

Amazing place and amazing staff. This place has become my favourite hotel , I always stay 4 or 5 star and this is the best hotel I’ve stayed in ,the staff r amazing , so hard working , I really hope that management appreciate them , they are so hard working , rooms cleaned everyday ( thank u Eliza ) Eli was very good , nice cocktails and had the right measure of knowing when to chat and when to let u just be and relax Jessica is a true professional , nothing to much bother and always polite and friendly while also being professional . There are so many others but I’ve forgotten their names . We stayed B&B and that sorted us grand , we eat at beach restaurants and there’s also a great pizzeria and coffee shop right beside the hotel. The lovely spa staff would sometimes go round the pool to ask if we wanted a complementary neck massage which was very welcomed LOVE this hotel

Such a wonderful relaxing hotel. The staff here are special. Everyone you deal with from cleaners, reception, waiters and breakfast staff are so friendly and helpful. Any request or question is dealt with by a smiling face. The pool area is spotless and beautifully maintained and little touches like small bowls of ice cream or cooling smoothies are bought out free of charge. Choice at breakfast is very good and eggs, omelettes or pancakes are cooked fresh on request. Only criticism, we arrived with a packed suitcase of creased clothes and could not get an iron. A laundry service is provided but at a cost. Not practical with two suitcases full. We definitely hope to return..

This could've been a lovely stay but unfortunately it was only average for a number of reasons. If I start with the positives first - great location very close to the beach, but also quiet and low key. The rooms are a good size and on the whole quite comfortable. I think the staff here, especially the restaurant/bar staff are first class. They simply cannot do enough for you and every request we made was met with a smile and can do attitude. Special mention to Nicole who is an absolute asset to the hotel. Management should be very grateful to have her as an employee. The less positives however are unfortunately many. The hotel is most definitely short staffed and I feel management expect far too much from their employees. On our last evening in the hotel I felt very sorry for 2 restaurant staff trying to deliver a full a la Carte dinner and drinks table service to 27 dinner guests, as well as serve in the bar. It was chaotic with some guests waiting over 30 minutes just to have menus provided. I waited 45 minutes for a glass of wine to be brought to my table, no bread was offered and it was very hit and miss when it came to whether you received the Amuse-Bouche. This was in no way the fault of the 2 staff who were run off their feet! I felt nothing but sympathy for them doing their absolute best in an impossible scenario. Then there is the outlook of the rooms. The pool view rooms look out over a well maintained garden, but if you are on the other side of the corridor you are looking out over an alley way with pretty awful maintenance and small plastic chairs on the very open room terraces and balconies. The photos attached show the difference between the two areas. The bed in our room was large and comfortable but the mattress protector used is cheap and nasty. It is plastic backed and makes a dreadful crinkly noise when you are lying on it. It really did feel a bit like trying to sleep in a crisp packet! In order to get some sleep, we ended up taking it off the bed and putting it away in the wardrobe for most of our stay. Because of the staff shortage the pool area isn't cleaned as often as it should. There are seagull droppings around the pool which is off putting, and the sun beds are old and need replaced as do the pool umbrellas, many of which are frayed or have broken spokes. It is such a shame that the negatives outweigh the positives at this hotel, but they really do need to address the issues highlighted if they wish to attract returning guests.

We have just returned from a six day holiday at this wonderful hotel. Everything was excellent - comfort, cleanliness and quality of the food. Breakfast time was calm, relaxed with great service. Evening meals were served and everything tasted delicious. The best thing about the hotel was the staff. It wouldn't be fair to name individuals as everyone from the management team, restaurant staff and cleaners were professional and friendly. Our room was ready for us on arrival (we arrived at 1pm) which was great after a long journey. When we came back to our room after lunch, staff left a bottle of Rose wine and chocolate strawberries as a gift for my birthday. It must have been noted when checking in, plus the waitress passed on the type of wine I had with my lunch. Very much appreciated.

We booked this hotel through Jet2Holidays and after reading the reviews online, I can now see why this was rated so highly.
The hotel is set on a quiet road that leads down to the beach, it is small with around 40 rooms and it's immaculately clean!
The breakfast was lovely with a good choice of food and drinks. We stayed half board and enjoyed a 3-course meal every evening. It's not your traditional buffet half board, instead you choose from a set menu, the hotel restaurant has very nice food available, with fish and meat in abundance.
With the half board you can choose to eat in the hotel restaurant or in the Italian just outside (Massa Fina) if you like pizza and pasta the dishes are lovely!
If you like tennis they have a tennis court but bring your own racket and balls as it is around 22 euros to hire the court for an hour. two rackets and balls.
There are also long boardwalks that run adjacent to the beach, perfect for a long walk or even a run!
The staff are all fantastic, so friendly and welcoming. It really made the trip even more enjoyable.
I would without a doubt recommend this hotel to anyone, especially if you are looking for somewhere to relax and unwind if you have a busy lifestyle!

Overall as it was a short 4 day stay we would recommend this hotel, however certain things let the hotel down slightly, some are not in the control of the hotel but guests need to be aware good and not so good below: Location: lovely and quiet, with a slight boho vibe, however due to the location public transport is limited and taxi’s take advantage of this, I recommend Uber app as this cut the price by at least a 1/4. Food: Hotel food was standard fair for breakfast, after 8.30 they could do with larger serving dishes as they ran out of items regularly and this caused slight waits on occasion. There are 4 restaurants close by catering mainly for fish lovers but literally next door to hotel there is a pizza place that was very good. There is also a surf cafe next door to the hotel as well which did sandwiches, smoothies etc There is a supermarket and another cafe about 10 mins walk away if needed Rooms: Pool facing rooms are defo better as the other side of the hotel looked over private residences and road as there are less than 50 rooms in hotel I would think rooms get filled fast. Facilities: Pool area very quiet, no probs getting sunbeds etc piped music became slightly annoying after day 3 but horses for courses, bar area was small but adequate and usual hotel mark ups on beers etc. In summary, nice for a short break but could become quite isolated for extended stays.

We have just returned from an eight night stay at this lovely hotel. We did a short stay here some years ago and always planned to return.We booked directly with the hotel which proved to be the cheapest option and we also got a discount as a returning customer to a Vila Gale property. We arrived very early and were delighted we were able to access our room immediately. Our room (209) was very comfortable, good air-con, huge bed, great shower pressure, large bath towels and nice robe and slippers provided. There was a complimentary bottle of water in the room …there is also a mini bar.No kettle but I think you can hire one. Not all rooms have a pool view, we were on the ground floor with a small patio looking on to a courtyard. We hardly used the patio but it might be a disappointment to some so worth looking , at this at booking time. The pool area was lovely, very quiet while we were there. The pool is unheated but I enjoyed my swims. Most of the reviews here mention how lovely the staff are and I totally agree.
Gale is a very quiet resort and it feels very safe. The beach is amazing ..the sea is often too rough for swimming and is absolutely freezing! We had one cooler cloudy morning so we took the walk over the boardwalk to the next town, Armacao de Pera. The walk will take you about an hour, it runs through the wonderful Praia Grande nature reserve. We had a ramble around Armacao de Pera, ate a nice lunch and walked back. Whoever is responsible for erecting all the boardwalks in the Algarve deserves a Nobel prize, what a fabulous amenity.
Breakfast was lovely and we ate all other meals out and about in Gale. Like everywhere else, eating out is no longer cheap, at lunchtime we almost always had to ask to see the snack menu, this is worth remembering as sometimes you just want a wrap or a toastie. The cafe attached to the supermarked Apolonia is very good. As is the Italian restaurant attached to the hotel. San Domingos is also really good and well worth the 25 minute walk.
We had a lovely holiday and are looking forward to returning later in the year when we might divide our time between here and the Vile Gale, Lagos which we also love.

The weather is generally settled from May to October but like most countries they can experience random weather conditions anytime. We had a lovely week in August last year but there was a storm with high winds during the night which locals said was very unusual.
There are more places to choose from in the Albufeira area.
