Vila Petra garners praise for its cleanliness and a plethora of amenities, including entertainment and pools, which contribute to a family-friendly environment. Guests enjoy spacious, well-maintained rooms with the convenience of fully equipped kitchens. While the vibrant atmosphere is celebrated, with karaoke and shows adding to the fun, some visitors feel the pool music lacks excitement. Service is generally efficient and amiable, but there are occasional reports of slower service. Despite its lively location, the hotel maintains a tranquil vibe, although drink prices at the pool bar and squeaky beds have been noted as drawbacks.

We have just returned from here after visiting for February half term. We booked this Christmas eve after reading a small amount about it and seeing that it had good reviews and a good offer on the week we wanted.
I would so recommend this place and would definitely return, it was way more than we expected in regards to our 2 bed apartment, views, ease of location for the supermarket, shops, cafe and restaurants. A short bus ride from the airport also (Faro being 35mins)
Our apartment was very clean, had everything we needed plus more. The pool view was great. Quite at night and none of us slept badly.
It has its own mini market on site which is handy for odd bits. But we found the nearest and best supermarket was a 10 min walk away, Pingo. A cross between a aldi and asda!
We ate at a restaurant down the road a few nights and cooked in our apartments for a few nights too finishing with our final night eating in the hotel restaurant. To be honest, it want our favourite meal of the week, some meals were cold and veg was the frozen variety so simply cooked but more expensive than eating out!
The whole complex is very clean and tidy, staff are very helpful and the entertainment each night kept us all amused.
The pool was great albeit Very cold, but it was February and it didn't stop the kids from going in everyday.
The indoor pool was lovely, not massive but enough. However you need to buy a hat at €3
We didn't try out any of the classes that went on everyday. The kids however did do tennis and snooker when it was on. These were free to do and our kids being 12 - 16yrs were happy enough.
We walked down to the beach (about a 30 min walk back up the hill to head home) with lots of cafes and shops to view. We also walked to the old town which was pretty. If not very fit for a long walk there are tuc tucs or mini road trains not far away.
Everything about our stay was positive and I hope yours is too 😁

We both stayed here for1 week on a bed and breakfast board
Quick checkin at reception , we was allocated room 48 with pool view , could not fault the size and amenities in room , good sized bathroom and a good size kitchen with everything you need, down to scissors and a corkscrew, the hob had four rings with an integrated oven , the room spotlessly clean , credit to the cleaning ladies
Breakfast was ok , nothing too exciting , all the usual continental stuff and hot items , bacon , sausage, beans , no fried eggs only hard boiled, we wasn’t keen on the scrambled egg , way too sloppy , kitchen staff kept adding milk to it …. Ewww

Don’t no what other meals were lie as only here for breakfast

Pool good size , bad points , notice at the gate to pool , no smoking , no inflatables , no balls , no lifeguard , no jumping into pool , no cannon balling into pool . All sun beds are positioned so close to each other that their is no personal space , I moved my bed and swopped it with another ( some beds better than others ) and didn’t put the one I moved back into position , with 5 minutes a guy came , gave me a look that could have killed you , and put the bed back into position , to me the pool area had enough restrictions, so as to not be able to move a bed around is absolutely ridiculous!

The pool bar , expensive the girl Nadejda who serves , seriously needs a personality check , no friendly greeting , she not once smiled the whole week we was there, she had a helper who she dictated to where things had to go , poor young lad
When you spending money , which you don’t have to , you’re choice , then get this snotty nose sour faced wench look , to me this needs addressing , as you are putting more profit to the hotel

Weather good all week , 45 minutes walk from main town , where the hotel is situated the area is dead , most shops have closed down , if you into drinking large amounts of alcohol , then the strip is less than a 10 min walk , I wouldn’t say that the hotel is kid friendly as there is no activities for them to do , and if I did have young children I think the old town is a way better option , we’ve seen young parents with babies in prams and kids under 5 being towed along on the strip ! Wow good parenting

Would we stay here again , no , way too far from the family side part holiday , too many young lads at this resort

If hotel in centre then yes , need a few staff members re trained

I stayed 3 nights in a single studio, with twin beds, kitchen and 3 seat sofa with dining area as well as a balcony.
The room was clean, the bathroom could have been cleaner, dont get me wrong it wasnt dirty and didn't warrant mention to staff. Some of the Mark's on tiled floor(145) looked like they had been their a long time. The general cleanliness throughout is actually very good
Theres TV with channels in most languages and I had a very comfortable bed and therefore a good sound sleep.
The hotel is large with a big swimming pool and plenty sun loungers not being used by anyone as it was only 22'.
There is entertainment through the day and evening, aerobics, stretching, walking, karaoke, bingo, quiz, reptile nights etc.
Theres a good restaurant on site, service a tad slow when we ate their but good food and reasonably priced.
You can charge drinks and food to your room.
If you want to eat out, there are plenty restaurants nearby at the top end of the quieter part of the strip.
The strip main area is about 10 minute walk and quite lively even though some bars weren't open.
Beach is about 15/20 minutes head straight through the strip and down the steep hill at the end.
The staff throughout were helpful and friendly, theres a shop on site, selling bread milk, groceries etc
I'd definitely stay here again and will be back in January or February 2021 with friends.
Taxi from airport to door is 62 euro return, Aguago taxis and good service

Just back from 10 nights stay. Hotel lovely and lots of nice grassy areas for the kids. Rooms ok, but walls paper so thin you could hear people changing their minds. You can hear people above using the toilet and their conversations, people snoring, microwaves pinging etc. Staff not very welcoming. Arrived at 9pm and had to get a lift downstairs and back outside and struggle with 3 cases, a pushchair and 2 children over cobbled pathways to try and find our room in the dark. I would have thought a 4* hotel would have at least offered some help. We always use a towel hire service in hotels we stay in, pay deposit, get it back at end of stay. This hotel doesnt give your money back, keeps it for using the towels. The guy that is on duty in the indoor pool makes it obvious that guests are an inconvenience, very grumpy and not the slightest bit friendly. Hardly any choice of drinks at poolside bar and cocktails like water. The room cleaners will not allow you back into the room while they are in there, even if you want to just drop a bag off, probably because they dont want you to see the poor job they make of cleaning. Our room floors were filthy. Never heard of a hotel not allowing inflatables in the pool either. If you like the stench of petrol sit up by the kids pool, guy starts cutting the grass at 9 with a petrol mower & finishes bout 5ish every day, lovely stink of petrol & smoke. But dont smoke/vape round the pool.

Visited in early April for 11 nights with my wife and 8 month old baby. We booked the 1 bedroom apartment with the superior balcony. Arrived at about midday and they had the room ready for us. Staff at check in and throughout the whole stay were very friendly. The apartment itself was very spacious and the kitchen was very well stocked with utensils etc. Some of the issues we had were outside of the hotels control but some were within their control.
When we arrived I rang reception to ask would it be possible to have a high chair brought to the the room which I was told they would do straight away. However I had to ring reception again the next day to ask for it again.
We had breakfast included in our package and we wished we hadn’t, the food was very average and a better breakfast in town for half the price would have been a better option.
The gym and indoor pool are restricted to a small number of guests because of covid restrictions (I think) so there were a number of days we brought baby down to the pool for a swim and were told that we weren’t allowed. Some days it was fully booked into the following day as well. During the summer this mightn’t be a problem but the outdoor pools were freezing so you couldn’t swim with a baby outside. The gym is limited to two people per hour and only open certain hours each day so I would guess that no more than 10/12 people can use it each day which could be a problem for people during the busier season.
Lastly the area surrounding the hotel has definitely seen better times. The top part of the strip has suffered from covid closures so attracts a lot of locals drinking on street corners. A couple of nights it was actually unsafe walking home at night.
All in all the hotel (particularly the outside pool) are nice with good facilities but the restrictions and surrounding areas bring it down a few notches. For the price you pay there are nicer places to stay.

Hubby and I stayed at Vila Petra in a one bedroomed, large kitchen apartment no.146,in block C!
We Stayed for Xmas & New Year 2019.

Apartment was spacious, comfortable and cleaned daily including Xmas day!

All the staff were friendly, helpful and informative.

Hotel has nightly entertainment and also offers on drinks.

Outside was not heated so I wasn't brave enough to try it out! There is an indoor pool with Jacuzzi which is free but there is a fee if you want to use the sauna/steam room! I did have a hit stone massage in the spa, as an Xmas Prezzie, it was absolutely fantastic!

Hotel is a five minute walk to "the strip", not a lot of bars and restaurants open as it is winter season but enough to eat out and have drinks each night. The Canadian Bar wis especially good!

It is about 30mins walk to the old town, which is down hill so we tended to get the tourist train or a taxi back! The train is €5 each fr a day ticket. A taxi is about £7. The old town wasn't really open until just before new year when lots of bars and restaurants open up I time for the concert and fireworks on the beach on New Year's Eve! It was the best fireworks display Tthat I have ever seen!

Overall the weather was nice around 20 degrees each day with sun and occasional cloud!

I will definitely stay at Vila Petra again but would probably stay for new year and not Xmas, more open at new year! It was a very relaxing holiday.

We had a great last-minute holiday here last week. The hotel is incredibly clean and a lot of care is taken in making sure it’s safe.
The food we had in the evening was fabulous; exceptional service too. I highly recommend eating from the menu here at night. We enjoyed the view from the terrace overlooking the pool. It’s lovely at breakfast too. The food at breakfast is a little boring but it’s certainly not bad. Again, amazing service from the very friendly staff.

I wasn’t keen the location of this hotel. It’s in a lovely quiet spot but what really lets it down is an awful “strip” of bars and restaurants that you have to go through to get to any other decent places in this resort. We hated that. Some might love “all you can eat” British buffets and promises of VIP treatment for your hen or stag do, but it’s not for us. Made eating out at other nice places in the evening tricky but we made it work. There’s a little train to the old town which we used a lot. Lots of wonderful local/traditional eateries here.

The pool bar at Vila Petra is a bit expensive and they use way too much plastic when serving things like toasties which could easily come on paper plates. Recycling bins aren’t clear; just colour coded but I wasn’t sure which bin to put what in. I think they should make more of an effort to sort the plastic issue out.

All in all, a great hotel and a lovely - much needed - family holiday after months at home. You made our stay very enjoyable. Thank you!

Just returned from 10 days here with family, we stayed in a 1 bed apartment in the main block overlooking the front of the hotel, our room was spotlessly clean with a bedroom and 2 large sofa beds in the living room, big enough for teenager boys aged 19 & 17!! The apartment was very well equipped with loads of storage and the kitchen had everything that you could possibly need including a dishwasher! There is an Aldi supermarket with a 5/10 minute walk.
The hotel is situated close but not too close to the strip, so it is quiet at night.
We ate in the restaurant a couple of times both at lunchtime and in the evening, the BBQ night and steak night are both good and well priced. The entertainment was very good from Bellux entertainment, I especially enjoyed the Grease show!
The pool area is also very clean with plenty of sunbeds, and towels are provided, entertainment also good fun.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to return one day.

My friend and I stayed here from 29th July- 5th August 2022.
The hotel it's self is lovely and clean, our apartment was lovely. The beds were slightly uncomfortable and we could every movement from the room above and next to us, which made sleeping restless at times.

Unfortunately the food let the place down. We had paid to go half board. Thinking it would save us money in the long run having breakfast and evening meal sorted. Having stayed in other hotels I thought the evening meal would have a lot more of a buffet choice. However we had the choice of 1 chicken dish, 1 fish dish and 1 veggie dish. Then 2 pizzas and wedges. That was all no salad, pastas, meats or cheeses, very disappointed. We were also given water (we never requested) to then find out we were charged €2 for!? Had we know that would be the case we would have declined or taken the rest of the bottle with us. However we noticed we could choose from the menu if we didn't like the buffet options and we're given €13.50 credit back per person. So we did that 1 night and they were was a lot more option to choose from. However 2 of the nights they have themed nights...Latin & BBQ. So these nights the restaurant was closed. So unless you enjoy Latin food or fish & chicken on the BBQ there was no other options to choose from. Which means we then had to go elsewhere for evening meals. I'm so disappointed in how it's all organised and sold to us! Because of this we would never stay at this hotel again. Breakfast was also cold, yet lots of options to choose from. Even on our last morning we were there for 7.30am (as soon as opened) and we thought, finally a hot breakfast but no!

Considering its a high star hotel we excreted a lot better we both paid just under £1000 each!!

If you're looking for a family friendly self catering option in Albufeira, Vila Petra is definitely the place to be. Well located around ten minutes from the strip or the more family friendly option Estr. De Santa Eulalia, so plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance. A 10 minute taxi ride , usually costing less than €10 will bring you to Albufeira's old town, with great shopping, bars and restaurants. The hotel also has several dining options as well as nice budget friendly bars. It is possible to order a very reasonably priced half board option in advance each day, with a great selection for breakfast and an evening meal. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and more than happy to help with taxis and even printing boarding passes if needed. The same was true for the cleaning staff, who were very accommodating and friendly. The pool area is well serviced, with a bar and entertainment for the children and adults throughout the day. The pool opens at 9am with none of the fuss and stress of the usual sunbed reservation fiasco. To the shame, horror and total embarrassment of my wife and children, I found myself to be quite skilled (at least in my mind) at aqua gym and dancing (unfortunately it took some time to find my boys afterwards who were hiding in mortification). The morning, afternoon and evening entertainment was good fun if a little cheesy (the nice cheesy more mild cheese that your heavy Roquefort type). The guys and girls doing the entertaining were really good at their jobs, getting the atmosphere going and keeping us kids and the adults positive from early to late. The food in the hotel was good and the drinks reasonably priced. Overall a five star experience that I would highly recommend to anyone with a family who doesn't wish to be subject to the behaviour sometimes associated with the younger male holidaymaker (like myself in the old days ).
