Detailed Reviews
I spent a week at the Carlton Ambassador in early December 2019. I would recommend the hotel, although it is not inexpensive. For service and convenient location, in the city center, within walking distance of many sights and institutions, it is worth the extra cost. So, in the end price/quality ratio works out.
I had been assigned a very small room, and asked for a change. The personnel at the front desk were very professional in responding to this request. I was shown several other rooms until I found a satisfactory one. The reception personnel handled the situation perfectly, with polite and friendly demeanor.
My room was clean and welcoming, with traditional style furnishings. The bathroom was small ish, but certainly adequate. The dining areas of the hotel, including the breakfast area, was charming and had fireplaces that were kept lit starting from breakfast, lending a warmth to the atmosphere. The food at breakfast was adequately varied, including fresh fruit salad and a variety of breads and cheeses, with omelettes and other hot dishes on demand. That said, I believe there could be an even greater variety of offerings at breakfast e.g. nuts, seeds, and dry fruit to add to muesli, more spreads to put on bread, and so on. Nevertheless, it was more than enough.
I had dinner at the hotel twice and on both occasions the food was good, although slightly pricey. Still, worth it for the convenience.
There was one error on my final bill but - once again- this was corrected immediately and professionally by the staff.
One small remark would be that I asked for coffee pods and additional tea bags for my room, with no success. So, while there was a boiler and cups, there was not a complete range of items to prepare coffee and tea to one's liking. I left a message about this in the room, but nothing changed. Perhaps the message should have been written in Dutch. Still, it's a relatively insignificant detail!
One of the hotel's main assets is the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. I was always treated well and kindly.
I would recommend the hotel to couples on a city break. The warm atmosphere, fireplaces, and classical furnishings make it 'romantic'.I would also highly recommend this hotel for business and leisure travelers.

Spent four nights with my two kids. The beds were comfortable, our room had a balcony and included use of mini bar. The decoration of the room was beautiful, conveyed a feeling of relax rather than just temporary accommodation. The bathroom was spacious and the breakfast tasty, very pleased we had the option of omelette/eggs for breakfast. Location is great, in 5 mins you are in the Noordeinde area of the centre, you have tram and bus stops nearby, green areas all around. When I visit The Hague again I will definitely stay here again!

Service level is truly top-notch - informed, personalised and discreet yet attentive and unpretentious - people who go above and beyond and who take pride in their hotel and what they do, and it shows. I had a short visit during covid/corona lockdown, travelling to NL for medical reasons, and the manner of service really stood out at an otherwise challenging time for everyone. This hotel is a timeless classic of The Hague, beautifully situated with lots of nearby greenery and well placed for access to the central old city, the Peace Palace and numerous embassies and international bodies. Very good food, superb breakfast, comfortable beds, the hotel has classic charm. Highly commended.

Was hoping for a much better experience t be honest. Carlton disappointed me for several reasons and I will not stay there again.
The room was dark and cold, especially the bathroom. Had to heat it with hot water. Parts of bathroom (e.g. shelf over the sink) were not cleaned the entire week. They changed towels everyday even if i left them hanging, not nature friendly 😕 breakfast choice was mediocre and while there were options to ask for additional meal, I was never offered those proactively. Fresh orange juice contained water. Pizza in the hotel tasted like mushed potatoes...
Otherwise, reception staff super friendly, breakfast venue lovely, great location and overall a nice looking hotel. Where are those 4 stars though?

The pictures on the hotel website cannot possibly show how charming and cozy this hotel is. I was simply amazed by the atmosphere in this place. Every single detail, from the carefully chosen interior design to the thick soft carpets in the hallways, period furniture, amenities and services show how this hotel cares about its guests.
We were met by the friendliest personnel, who were genuinely happy to welcome us and help us with every request we had during the stay.
The clean, cozy, quiet and beautifully designed rooms are well equipped with everything you might need or want in the hotel. WIFI works good even in the video streaming mode.
And the small gifts from the hotel – the true tokens of their hospitality - made the whole stay even better!
I checked out from Carlton Ambassador smiling and can proudly say, that I finally found my favorite place to stay in The Hague.

+1
A great hotel in a central location, very close to all attractions of the old part of the city (15 minute walk on average). Great staff and service, very good food (had only breakfasts as we had dinners elsewhere). I booked very late so the rates were slightly more expensive but when booking in advance, the prices are very reasonable.

This is a charming boutique style hotel in a central, yet leafy and green area of The Hague. Spacious rooms, pleasant outlook, friendly, professional and helpful staff, tasty Dutch food, comfortable bed (fantastic sleeps here).
I actually stayed in late June 2019, and am catching up on my reviews, but June has been closed now so I have entered July. Still I wanted to give this hotel a high rating given the crisis in travel confidence caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. When you feel as if it is safe to travel again, go to the Hague and stay in this hotel, it's wonderful. Oh the hotel bath is fabulous, although I was too busy at my conference across the road to enjoy it. Finally the breakfast has relatively limited choices, but delicious bread and they make a fantastic omelette on request, which I only discovered after staying in the hotel for a couple of days.

It was so relaxing to walk out to green neighbourhood, close to trams and also to restaurants and the elegant shops of Noordeinde. Our room was on the 1st floor but no noise to worry us and at the press of a button a blind descended which blocked out the light for a sound sleep. The only fault, and did not inconvenience too much was that we had to wait until well after 4 on the Sunday afternoon before our room was cleaned. Just meant that we couldn’t return to our room to have a shower before heading out. We were told that there were only 2 staff cleaning all the rooms. The staff at the desk were very apologetic and were always helpful.

4-star hotel in a fairly central area of The Hague and at the same time very quiet.
The reception is as you should expect from this category and with two receptionists in turn.
Up in the room you will find a really large, well maintained, with desk, armchairs, wardrobe, TV , minibar, ironing board, really nothing is missing!
The bathroom as well is nice big, with shower and jacuzzi. Too bad, however, that both lacked a flexible shower to wash better. Another flaw the mini room of the toilet, really reduced access and space.
We did not take advantage of breakfast as almost € 23 per person I now find it very exaggerated, although increasingly widespread to find these prices. On the other hand, around there are many bars, although for two cappuccinos and two croissants still start 18 €!
In the evening then there is the bar and restaurant service, we had two really well made cocktails, as it should always be.
Recommended and would stay again.
Last note for the hotel parking. They have few places, for a fee of course, and in case you have to go a little further to a public one and spend about 25 € if you get the access link from the hotel.
