My wife and I were celebrating her birthday and our 28 year anniversary and we were looking for a place we have never been in Holland. After reading and researching all reviews and websites, we chose Het Kraaienest because most reviews stated that the breakfast was amazing and the pictures we saw from previous guests clinched the reservation. We rented a car and read that there was parking at the location, and fortunately our car was small enough to make it over the very very small bridge to get to the place. The owner, Millo Smis, showed us around and made us feel at home and comfortable. You enter the guesthouse on the ground floor, you will find a large private bathroom as well as the 2-door wardrobe. The spindle staircase leads you to the spacious attic room with two large skylights with romantic furnishings. The room was next to the dining room where we had a different and delicious huge breakfast every morning, wished we could have stayed longer. The walk from the B & B to the train station is enjoyable, a bit far, but you will walk next to a canal with shops all around which makes the walk palatable and fun, and of course, our favorite snack along the way, the Dutch kroket (log-shaped nuggets of meat ragu, covered in breadcrumbs and deep-fried), a must eat snack in Holland. Zaandam is quite a quaint small town and we enjoyed our stay very much and will definitely come back again.

What a great surprise, a converted farm on it's own little island surrounded by narrow canals.Swans, ducks, herons and cats all around. Living in a state of armed neutrality at times I must say but very peaceful really, Millo and Guda could not be more welcoming and the accommodation is superb. His breakfasts are to die for with freshly baked bread every morning. If you aheva question about a place that you want to visit he looks it up for you and prints off the result. We had to be careful not to take advantage of his attitude. We would reccommend this establishment to anybody. Book early as it will fill up quickly when the word gets out. Well done to both of you. You really made us welcome.

We stayed at Kraaienest for 4 nights in early September.
We arrived on an early flight from Australia and where met by our friend who took us directly to the B& B. We where too early to check in, but Milo was very happy to store our luggage for us while we went to explore Amsterdam.
Our room was a suite with a very nice modern bathroom downstairs and a large bedroom upstairs, with a very comfortable bed.
Access to the bedroom is gained by a spiral staircase.
Milo is a very friendly host, and provided us with a magnificent breakfast every morning, more than we could eat.
He also gave us a lift with our luggage to catch our train on our last day in Holland.
The only suggestion we would give, would be to have some hanging space for our clothes, and to included a handrail at the top of the spiral staircase. We found it a little challenging going up and down the stairs, to the bathroom.

This very cozy little B&B deserves more attention. It is very conveniently located close to Amsterdam but it has the charm of the countryside. The owners were very friendly and helpful. They offered to do the laundry for us. We spend three very enjoyable nights there.

We have only just returned from a wonderful stay at Het Kraaiennest. The two bedrooms are in a converted barn, very nicely decorated, both in different styles, very comfy. Breakfast was huge and there were some different things on offer every morning. A big thank you to our host for being so friendly and welcoming.

This B&B is one of the 'excellent' ones from my long list of stays. From arrival over the little wooden bridge we knew it would be special. Our large room was in a converted barn adjacent to a little canal where local houses had decks onto and friendly locals waved and chatted.

Each morning Milos, our friendly and knowledgeable host, arrayed the breakfast table with a selection of delicious things from cold meats and cheeses to UK style cereals and topping off was the homemade (by his fair hand as an ex baker) basket of breads.

The bedroom downstairs was easily accessed through the large breakfast room and had a neat new ensuite all we could possibly want. All the guest area has a personal and interesting collection of art and 'things'. The bed was vast and very comfortable, UK tv channels were available as well as armchairs which are so often left out from a good B&B hosts room plan. By the way, did I mention spotlessly clean?

Zaandam was a perfect area in which to stay, 8 mins by train to Amsterdam with loads of shops and eateries. We couldn't fault it!

Both rooms have private bathrooms. One bathroom is connected to one of the bedrooms. The other bathroom is not attached to the room. You have to take the stairs down to get there and the stairs are a little narrow. However, the bathroom is completely private and separated from the rest of the house. The Inn is smoke free and very clean.
