About
The Prinsenboat Studio
Create a memory of your stay in Amsterdam on board the Prinsenboat that you will cherish forever.
We take pride in offering a residence that is warm, inviting, comfortable and romantic. From the first day of your arrival at The Prinsenboat to your last day with us, we will do our utmost to ensure your experience lives up to your expectations.
If you are celebrating a special event such as a birthday, anniversary or reunion, we can help make it a unique experience.
You will immediately notice the difference between The Prinsenboat Studio and an Amsterdam hotel.
Children are thrilled to stay on The Prinsenboat. Maybe even more than adults. They are fascinated by living on a house boat where they can experience life on the water and enjoy watching the waterfowl and passing boats.

The Prinsenboat Studio consists of a very comfortable and romantic Studio of 27m2 from where you have a water view of the historic 17th century Prinsengracht with its patrician houses from the Dutch Golden Age.
When opening the large sliding windows you immediately feel the vibrations of the Prinsengracht.
The canals were, and still are, fundamental to Amsterdam, of great cultural and historical importance.
In 2010, the World Heritage Committee decided to add the 17th century canals area in Amsterdam to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The Prinsenboat is located, in the Prinsengracht, in the midst of all this beauty.
We had to say goodbye to the old Prinsenboat but we succeeded in building a new Prinsenboat with all modern conveniences; such as floor heating, your own private bathroom with shower, toilet, and wash basin, unlimited free TV with international channels and unlimited free WiFi, while preserving the old exotic features such as the opium bed and the wood carvings.
The location of the Prinsenboat couldn't be more perfect; all major attractions of the city Center are a 10 or 15 minute walk away; Museumplein, Anne Frankhuis, Magere Brug, Hermitage museum, Heineken brewery, the trendy Albert Cuypmarkt, Bloemenmarkt, Waterloopleinmarkt etc.
Nightlife is also within walking distance; from the clubs on Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein to the famous Gay Venue street; Reguliersdwarsstraat.
No need for a taxi after a night out.
The Prinsenboat Studio is part of The Prinsenboat and offers you a private studio of 27 m2 with a breakfast bar with fridge, coffee and tea making facilities, microwave, toaster, cutlery, cups, plates etc. Everything you need for a relaxed breakfast .
In our experience, our guests prefer their privacy more than being woken up early in the morning for breakfast. Breakfast is not included.
Unfortunately, the strict rules of the city of Amsterdam prohibit us from having a kitchen in The Prinsenboat Studio, which means that we cannot offer you cooking facilities. You have no stove and no sink.
Fortunately, around the corner, in the Utrechtsestraat, there is a wide variety of nice international restaurants. In the nearby, trendy, Albert Cuyp area you will find, next to the street market, also great authentic Surinamese dishes and a wide range of reasonably priced eateries.
The sleeping area with an antique king size teak bed, 160 x 2.00m. is separated from the rest of the studio by a large antique wood carved panel from Indonesia. The legs of the bed are huge dragons; chase the dragon (smoking opium) ……… We found it in Indonesia, in what was said, an opium kit.
The couch is extendable to a bed of 1.40 x 2.00 m. And is suitable for two persons.
The Prinsenboat Studio has a maximum capacity of 4 persons.
Wake up in the morning to a spectacular view of the canal of the Prinsengracht, take a walk through Amsterdam, come home at the end of the day in the tranquility of your private studio on the water, relax and watch life on the Amsterdam canals pass by.
Experience historic Amsterdam in a very special way; live on the water!

We were late on our arrival by 4 hours, but Michael kindly left us a lovely welcome note and came as soon as we called him. The most entertaining part of our trip was listening to his introduction to Amsterdam, in particular, how to do drugs properly if we were to do it :) haha.. but we're all good kids so it was very amusing.
The boat itself is wonderful though small for 4 people when the sofabed is pulled out. It was the best time that I've ever spent in Amsterdam and would encourage everyone to try this truly dutch experience.
The boat is beautiful. The windows open out so you can feed the swans from the couch - it is something special. As mentioned the tourist boats come past every ten minutes. We had lots of fun with them - they feel funny about looking in to your private water home! Once you wave at them, the cameras start flashing. I felt like a super star. Very funny stuff! The bed is hard and super comfy with a window as well TV and cable the stereo in the lounge room is powerful and can be turned up loud there are classical CDs there to use as well.
The bathroom is very clean and new. The boat is so close to coffee shops and cafes, as well as supermarkets, I stayed for 5 days and didn’t want to leave. Up the road is a lovely little laundry run by a nice man that will do all your washing and press it fold it and deliver it to the boat for 10 euro - I had lots of clothes. A bargain.
Well done peter I will stay again and recommend you to all my friends

Pete, the friendly owner welcomes guests with a fridge daily stocked for breakfast and great advice on the metropolois. He told us that much of the furniture was imported from Bali. making it highly romantic and a delight to return to after a days exploration. In the morning you look out onto the water to be welcomed by swans - great time had by all.
Please note that although several earlier reviews mention a well stocked fridge or food being provided, I think that may be from previous tenants. The cupboard was bare when we arrived.
"Be prepared to keep your blinds closed unless you're ready to wave to passing tourists on boats (which I did, and thought it was fun)."Read full review
"This is not a hotel,,but is a self catering houseboat. The views were so good we ate in rather than going out in the evening."Read full review
