The Prinsenboat Studio

Create a memory of your stay in Amsterdam on board the Prinsenboat that you will cherish forever.

We take pride in offering a residence that is warm, inviting, comfortable and romantic. From the first day of your arrival at The Prinsenboat to your last day with us, we will do our utmost to ensure your experience lives up to your expectations.

If you are celebrating a special event such as a birthday, anniversary or reunion, we can help make it a unique experience.

You will immediately notice the difference between The Prinsenboat Studio and an Amsterdam hotel.

Children are thrilled to stay on The Prinsenboat. Maybe even more than adults. They are fascinated by living on a house boat where they can experience life on the water and enjoy watching the waterfowl and passing boats.

Ask about our special family prices.

The Prinsenboat Studio consists of a very comfortable and romantic Studio of 27m2 from where you have a water view of the historic 17th century Prinsengracht with its patrician houses from the Dutch Golden Age.

When opening the large sliding windows you immediately feel the vibrations of the Prinsengracht.

The canals were, and still are, fundamental to Amsterdam, of great cultural and historical importance.

In 2010, the World Heritage Committee decided to add the 17th century canals area in Amsterdam to the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The Prinsenboat is located, in the Prinsengracht, in the midst of all this beauty.

We had to say goodbye to the old Prinsenboat but we succeeded in building a new Prinsenboat with all modern conveniences; such as floor heating, your own private bathroom with shower, toilet, and wash basin, unlimited free TV with international channels and unlimited free WiFi, while preserving the old exotic features such as the opium bed and the wood carvings.

The location of the Prinsenboat couldn't be more perfect; all major attractions of the city Center are a 10 or 15 minute walk away; Museumplein, Anne Frankhuis, Magere Brug, Hermitage museum, Heineken brewery, the trendy Albert Cuypmarkt, Bloemenmarkt, Waterloopleinmarkt etc.

Nightlife is also within walking distance; from the clubs on Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein to the famous Gay Venue street; Reguliersdwarsstraat.

No need for a taxi after a night out.

The Prinsenboat Studio is part of The Prinsenboat and offers you a private studio of 27 m2 with a breakfast bar with fridge, coffee and tea making facilities, microwave, toaster, cutlery, cups, plates etc. Everything you need for a relaxed breakfast .

In our experience, our guests prefer their privacy more than being woken up early in the morning for breakfast. Breakfast is not included.

Unfortunately, the strict rules of the city of Amsterdam prohibit us from having a kitchen in The Prinsenboat Studio, which means that we cannot offer you cooking facilities. You have no stove and no sink.

Fortunately, around the corner, in the Utrechtsestraat, there is a wide variety of nice international restaurants. In the nearby, trendy, Albert Cuyp area you will find, next to the street market, also great authentic Surinamese dishes and a wide range of reasonably priced eateries.

The sleeping area with an antique king size teak bed, 160 x 2.00m. is separated from the rest of the studio by a large antique wood carved panel from Indonesia. The legs of the bed are huge dragons; chase the dragon (smoking opium) ……… We found it in Indonesia, in what was said, an opium kit.

The couch is extendable to a bed of 1.40 x 2.00 m. And is suitable for two persons.

The Prinsenboat Studio has a maximum capacity of 4 persons.

Wake up in the morning to a spectacular view of the canal of the Prinsengracht, take a walk through Amsterdam, come home at the end of the day in the tranquility of your private studio on the water, relax and watch life on the Amsterdam canals pass by.

Experience historic Amsterdam in a very special way; live on the water!

Welcome to The Prinsenboat Studio

We were in Amsterdam over the long weekend and stayed 3 nights on a houseboat. This was a real Amsterdam experience and was totally worth it. The boat was centrally located on the Prinsengracht just moments for Rembrantplein and easily accessible by tram. The environment was totally comfortable; we had a stereo, TV, a full kitchen and living room along with a comfortable bed. The house sleeps 4 but only using the pull out sofa, so if you are looking for a romantic weekend I would consider that it sleeps only 2. The host provides breakfast food left in the frig and he made sure there was enough to last us our entire stay. It was fun to be able to cook our own breakfast and make a pot of coffee just like you lived there. We were on a tour boat channel so we often saw all the tourists driving by and it was cool to wave and see the envy in their eyes! I would highly recommend this type of accommodation (Amsterdam the home of the houseboat) and would also highly recommend the Prinsenboat which can be found with the following link: --------- Enjoy!!

We had a great to Amsterdam. The biggest part of which was the stay on The prinsenboat. We litterly came alife again on the houseboat. Right in the centre of everything, though full of peace and harmony. Great interior.

We are a group of four friends on our post-graduation from university trip. We had been traveling for almost 6 weeks already and wanted to end our trip off with something comfortable and luxurious which just happened to be the Prinsenboat.

We were late on our arrival by 4 hours, but Michael kindly left us a lovely welcome note and came as soon as we called him. The most entertaining part of our trip was listening to his introduction to Amsterdam, in particular, how to do drugs properly if we were to do it :) haha.. but we're all good kids so it was very amusing.

The boat itself is wonderful though small for 4 people when the sofabed is pulled out. It was the best time that I've ever spent in Amsterdam and would encourage everyone to try this truly dutch experience.

My review title says it all! You will love the Prinsenboat it's situated on a beautiful canal in a gorgeous district of Amsterdam, with many bars and restaurants just outside the front door, flower stalls, book shops, supermarkets, liquor shop, you name it, it's all there. Inside the boat is divine, with a better central heating system than I've got in my own house. The shower is fast and hot! The bed is beyond big and comfy, and you can lie in bed watching boats float by, amazing! It's got everything you could need in the kitchen, and the floor to ceiling windows are just perfect for sitting in watching amsterdam life go by. I carnt recommend Peter (who is a dream to deal with, so very helpful and relaxed) and his fabulous boat enough. Book a weekend at this boat and you'll never stay in a small hotel room again. We went as a couple for our anniversary and will return and take the kids, they will be heaven watching the swans and ducks out of the windows. Book it, book it now I promise you won't be disappointed. Thanks again. Suzy and rob x

On my arrival to the boat Peter, the owner, was waiting for me. I found him to be very kind and fun. He showed me all the facilities and how they worked. The kitchen was stocked with enough fresh food that I really didn’t have to eat any where else and there was wine as well.

The boat is beautiful. The windows open out so you can feed the swans from the couch - it is something special. As mentioned the tourist boats come past every ten minutes. We had lots of fun with them - they feel funny about looking in to your private water home! Once you wave at them, the cameras start flashing. I felt like a super star. Very funny stuff! The bed is hard and super comfy with a window as well TV and cable the stereo in the lounge room is powerful and can be turned up loud there are classical CDs there to use as well.

The bathroom is very clean and new. The boat is so close to coffee shops and cafes, as well as supermarkets, I stayed for 5 days and didn’t want to leave. Up the road is a lovely little laundry run by a nice man that will do all your washing and press it fold it and deliver it to the boat for 10 euro - I had lots of clothes. A bargain.

Well done peter I will stay again and recommend you to all my friends

Simon

Coming from England my wife and I were looking for accomodation in the heart of Amsterdam. Set on an Amsterdam canal, Prinsenboat reconciled easy access to museums and nightlife with stylish decor and generous amenities.

Pete, the friendly owner welcomes guests with a fridge daily stocked for breakfast and great advice on the metropolois. He told us that much of the furniture was imported from Bali. making it highly romantic and a delight to return to after a days exploration. In the morning you look out onto the water to be welcomed by swans - great time had by all.

Easily the #1 Ace place in Amsterdam, hands down!!! Right on the best canal, right next to everything! Boats, bars, birds, people, fascinating architecture and art. We`re going back to Prinsenboat again, easily!!! Probably already this spring. Its a buzzing neighborhood and the boat is awesome! Who doesnt wanna live on a beautiful houseboat right in the middle of Amsterdam???

The Prinsen Boat was the perfect place to stay for what was an amazing week in Amsterdam. Peter, the owner, is excellent with communicating during the booking process and leading up to our arrival. From the minute we walked in the door we knew we had made the right choice in accommodations. The boat is right at the stop for Tram 4 at the Prinsengracht and well-located within walking distance of everything! There are cafes, shops, grocery store and everything you need right there. The views are incredible as is the atmosphere of the neighborhood. From the flower shop and herring stand on the corner to the busy cafes the whole vibe was lively but not overly touristy and not crowded. Really chill. The boat itself was really unique. Every review mentions the bed...oh that bed! Some of the best nights of sleep we have ever had. It's like a cave in there! The shower has awesome water pressure and plenty of hot water. There is just enough movement on the boat so you know you are on a boat but there is not really all that much movement. The boat traffic on the canal is constant and really fun to interact with everyone partying on their boats in the canal. There is reliable wifi and cable TV with CNN (that's all I care about) and Cartoon Network (all my boyfriend cares about). The boat is rustic. If you are looking for room service and your sheets changed daily this is not your place. But if you are looking for a really unique, comfortable, romantic alternative to a hotel the Prinsen Boat is a great choice. There is no question we will stay there again if Peter will have us!

My 12 year old daughter and I just spent four days in Amsterdam aboard Prinsenboat. The location is fantastic - close to the tram, museums, restaurants, a great bakery, grocery store. Everything that we needed was close by. The houseboat itself is lovely and very comfortable. We hope to return some day! Why would you want to stay anywhere else but on a houseboat when in Amsterdam?

Please note that although several earlier reviews mention a well stocked fridge or food being provided, I think that may be from previous tenants. The cupboard was bare when we arrived.

I wanted to find a special gift for my husband’s birthday and the Prinsen boat really fit the bill. After a long search for a “ wonen boat ”in Amsterdam, the Prinsen boat really stands out in its category. It is unique! Not only the decoration – which has a nice Mediterranean touch, but the location and the tidiness make it a clear winner. The Prinsenboat is literally around the corner of the Utrechtsestraat . This is a lively street in which you will find plenty of restaurants of all kinds and taste from Mexican to Spanish, Italian, Indonesian and Thai, there is a broad choice. If you prefer to eat at the boat, the kitchen is fully equipped, as well. If you look for a different and great experience when staying in Amsterdam I highly recommend the Prinsen Boat. All in all, an amazing stay that we look forward to repeat in the future!

Dear guest, It is always nice to hear from guests whom have stayed with us. Yes, we made a little place to sit outside in front of The Prinsenboat. It has chairs and is sheltered from the street (the famous Prrinsengracht) by plants and littles trees. I am sure you will like it. Best regards, Peter +31 (0)62731442 prinsenboatcom
