Detailed Reviews
Overall, the hotel is nice and well located, surrounded by the main museums. There is plenty space in the bedroom. The furnituries are new as well as the bed, bed clothes and comforters. I would say that the room where I stayed was bad illumintated.
My only complain is that the hotel did not enforcement what his staff said to me about the breakfast price. It was offered to me for 8 euros per person per day. When I made my check out I was obliged to pay 18 euros per person per day. To me it seems to be a normal practise at that hotel, since I did not see any token saying the breakfast price.
Be aware too, when you are making your check out, the hotel will charge city taxe of you. In my case I had to pay 50 euros.

Our stay was wonderful at this hotel. The staff is gracious and attentive. Rooms were spacious, clean and well appointed. A modern, comfortable lobby was a great place to gather before heading off to the museums- a short 10 minute walk away (Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Modern Art Museum etc.) as well as the concert hall. Also within 10 minutes walk is the up and coming Pijp neighborhood - a working class and increasingly hip area for shopping, dining bar hopping etc.. Before leaving for the day we suggest stopping at the hotel breakfast buffet. Reasonably priced, there are many characteristically healthy Dutch options (whole grain cereals and breads, fresh fruits etc.). as well as the heavier selections of eggs and sausages etc. Also within a 10 minute striking distance is one of Amsterdam's many canals with a stop for canal rides and boat tours.
All in all, this was an enjoyable and convenient location from which to explore and get to know Amsterdam.

As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by the hotel's warm and friendly staff. I cannot recommend this hotel enough - location was ideal (walking distance to museums and restaurants), staff was very accommodating, and the overall street ambiance is safe and quiet. We took a night stroll to look for a restaurant and even saw a couple of swans on the canal. Our room had a fantastic canal view, the windows were floor to ceiling and the room spacious. We traveled as a family and our 7 year old did not want to leave. We all loved our vacation, many thanks to the wonderful staff of this hotel. Highly recommended, will definitely come back and stay here again.

We had a good deal for a 3 night stay, so value for money was good.
We upgraded to a canal view room which was a nice big room with full length windows looking out onto the canal.
The bathroom was ok with a bath & a shower, and a problem with the shower was sorted out efficiently. Really liked the De Pijp location once we found our bearings, lots of nice bars & restaurants close by.
We have stayed in several NH hotels in Amsterdam and would say this one is middle of the range no more.
Would have liked a mini bar & dressing gowns would have been nice as would extra bedding. But overall enjoyed our stay, and if you get a good deal then would recommend.

Great location, 4stars ranking and some positive reviews were the reason we picked this hotel for 2 nights. However not being very picky I’m truly disappointed in this place and don’t recommend it to anyone. The rooms are outdated, reception service is careless, no housekeeping, no towels change, no water, no minibar. Probably I wouldn’t notice absence or housekeeping if we just stayed for 1 night but when you arrive after the whole day to the place with high price and 4stars on their badge you expect some minimum level of service for what you paid. Will not return here again.

I am NH Platinum, and I was just charged euros 22.90 for a noisy, not very nice breakfast buffet: soggy sausages, box juices from a dispenser, wet eggs, etc. Hilton gives even its Gold members better breakfasts for free. The staff waiting on breakfast (which only mean clearing tables), was charmless.
Furthermore, they provide no wash clothes in room's linens, and no bottles of water are provided in the room. The coffee provided is instant. The minibar is unstocked. Avoid! (All of this is in sharp contrast to the NH Grand Sablon in Brussels, that offers wash clothes, a stocked minibar, free mineral water, and a lovely breakfast. The problem isn't the chain, it is the standards of this owner/manager).

Dear mhljones, Let me first of all thank you for leaving your comments about our breakfast. As a valued member of NH, we highly appreciate your feedback, and use it to improve our standards. Since April 1, we have changed our breakfast buffet to exceed the expectation of our guests. The comments about the staff have been brought to the attention of the manager. Although wash cloths are not a standard item in our rooms, we do offer them at the reception for our guests now. These are given upon request. Same goes for mini bar items: with our Stay App we can provide you with all items and amenities possible. we are improving our communication to our guests now to avoid further confusion about the empty minibars in our standard rooms. I would like to thank you again for your comments, and hope to welcome you again soon at NH hotels. best regards,

Loved staying here. It is within walking distance of all museums, and close to many trams if you need. The room is comfortable, spacious, and clean. They provide everything you will need whether you are visiting for business or pleasure. Room had an iron, robe & slippers, hair dryer, non-alcoholic and alcoholic options in fridge, fridge in room, Highly suggest staying here. Would have loved if they provided airport transportation and included breakfast in the room, but the lack of those did not take away from the experience.

The location is very quiet, just a 7 minutes walk from the Concertgebouw and the major museums. The hotel is very clean, modern and light. My panorama room on the top floor was spacious, had enormous windows with a wonderful view over the canal and the city, and had a very comfortable bed. The bathroom seemed a bit outdated, with the shower in the bathtub. And there's in the room hardly any storage room: no closets, no wardrobe, no drawers; there's only an open rack with hangers. The breakfast buffet offered anything you could wish for, in a nice and light environment. There's a little self-service shop in the lobby with all kinds of beverages, candy, cocktailsnacks, etcetera, the prices are a bit steep though. People behind the desk were very friendly and service-oriented. In short: a very comfortable hotel on a great location, that certainly offers value for money.

Dear Hans, Thank you very much for taking the time to rate Avani Museum Quarter. A high rating such as this is truly a compliment for our hotel and for our staff. Our guests’ feedback and impressions are very important to us therefore I regret to hear about the limited storage places in the room, however we try to keep the open concept that provides more space in the rooms. Furthermore I want to thank you for your kind words about the breakfast buffet and friendly staff. We would be delighted to welcome you again in the nearby future. With kind regards, Nadia - Front Office Manager

The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the Museumplein—-Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum, etc. It’s also just a few minutes from a lot of lovely little restaurants (cross the canal using bridges that are very near. The view of the canal from my room was fabulous. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast (you pay extra) was quite good with scrambled eggs, bread and rolls, cheese, meats, yoghurt and fruits. If I ever return to Amsterdam I’ll definitely stay here again.

We had stayed previously at this hotel as a couple, but not for some years. We always enjoyed it, and so it was a natural choice to take our family (9 of us) for a pre-Christmas break to Amsterdam, one of our favourite cities. We paid extra for the superior rooms with floor to ceiling view on the 6th floor and we crossed our fingers that the place was still good - we needn't have worried.
The location is peaceful and safe, and it's now a five minute walk to the trams (previously two minute, but the local authority has closed the nearest tramline), but once at the tram stop you're within a ten minute ride of the city centre.
The only reason this review isn't five stars, is that the hotel is about to be subject to a major refurb, and in some places there were signs of tiredness (especially in bathrooms), but everything was spotlessly clean, and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was excellent, good choice and quality and there wasn't a single issue. The bar area was quiet, but bar manager Adem worked hard to make everyone feel at home and nothing was too much trouble.
We all loved it, and are already planning a return journey (hopefully with drier weather next time!)

I don't think there is a charge for an extra person but just for breakfast
I think so. Although I am not sure about specific gluten-free breads, there are many choices: several juices and fruits, yogurt, lettuces, tomatoes, cheeses, ham, turkey, teas, whole and 2% milk, cocoa, egss (either omelet, fried, boiled or scrambed). Sincerely breakfast is very complete and good quailty.
