The Hoxton, Lloyd Amsterdam is a hotel that many guests find to be stylishly appointed with a historic charm and an Art Deco flair. Its location is quiet, yet convenient for accessing central Amsterdam via nearby trams, a feature that travelers appreciate.
While the rooms are generally well-regarded for their decor and comfort, some guests have called out issues with noise and occasional lapses in cleanliness. The staff is often praised for their friendliness and helpfulness, although the value for money and service speed receive mixed reviews.

Detailed Reviews
We had a great stay at the Lloyd Hotel. The staff were amazing, so friendly and very helpful. It was my partners birthday and they left him a handwritten birthday note and a cake which was so thoughtful. We stayed with our dog and when we arrived there was a bed for her and a welcome package including a toy and some biscuits which was a lovely touch. The bed was very comfortable and the shower is really nice too. The hotel is in a great location with quick and easy access to the 7 and 26 lines which get you all over Amsterdam quickly and to the Central station in 10 minutes. There is a supermarket 2 minutes walk away and a handful of restaurants within walking distance.
We stayed in the 'Roomy' room which was a good size for a couple of a dog. It would have been nice to have more space to put things on, such as a table or desk. It would also have been nice to have our bin emptied more often and tea/coffee replaced (we had enough for 1 day but were staying for 6 so had to ask for more multiple times). I am fine with less housekeeping and the green initiative but the bin in our room was tiny and we ended up with a lot of rubbish since we stayed for almost a week so a bigger bin would be helpful. We ended up taking the rubbish out ourselves rather than asking for housekeeping every time and I saw other guests do the same.
Parking at the hotel is €45 per 24 hours. We parked our car for 1 day, then moved it down the road to the P+R which cost us €26 for 4 days with a GVB card, it is one tram stop away and saves so much money.
Overall, I highly recommend this hotel, only a few small tweaks would be needed to make the stay perfect.

This hotel will live long in your memory for all the right reasons, it starts before you arrive! They provide a messaging platform asking if you have any special requirements etc. Already you see by their reply that these people want to please. If you want a building that is full of character and history this charming Art Deco structure will tick the boxes with its wonderfully sympathetic decor. If cleanliness is high on your checklist, then no concerns here. Dining room oozing decor and ambience of times of blues music and more relaxed days. Food obviously cooked from scratch to a high standard and breakfast made to order, no dying buffets here, wonderfully fresh pastries cooked on site, perfect. Bar, ultra relaxing, amazing decor to reflect the site's overall ambience and outside terrace for warmer weather. Bedroom full of character with dockside view and full of comfort features and fixtures and fittings that upheld the theme. Very comfortable beds, large shower with rain forest and adaptable heads, supported by quality toiletries. Wonderful.
All this 4 star offering would be great, but what makes this hotel stand out are the staff. I have NEVER come across better! If you want bowing and scraping by smartly uniformed, insincere and probably bored staff, this is not for you. What is on offer here are a team of young people who greet you with genuine interest and warmth. You realise straight away that they want you to walk away feeling that they have done everything in their power to make you leave feeling "wow, that was amazing". All the staff we encountered exceeded our expectations. I don't know what their recruitment processes are, please keep on doing it. I speak from vast experience, the ethos in this establishment is definitely customer first, every time, without exception.
Add to that a lovely quiet location in the Eastern Docklands, only a 2 min walk to a 10 minute tram ride (no 26) to Central Station. Buy 1, 2 or 3 day tram ticket and tap on entry or same with your credit card for single journey.
Thank you Hoxton Lloyd. You hoped my visit would be memorable and it truly was, simply wonderful. You deserve numerous accolades.

A lovely hotel that we would stay at again.
We found the ‘optional’ room cleaning a bit odd though.
When we book a four star hotel at four star hotel rates we expect the room to be in a ‘just arrived’ condition every time we return to the room.
If however you decide not to have the room cleaned each day (“for sustainability reasons”) then a lower room rate should be offered too.

+1
I had a wonderful experience at The Hoxton, Lloyd Amsterdam with my family. We booked two rooms, each featuring a double bed and a bunk bed, which was perfect for our kids and our senior parents. The location was fantastic, right by the 26 tram line, making it just an 8-minute ride to Amsterdam Central.
At first glance, the building seemed old, but stepping into the rooms revealed a modern and beautifully renovated space. The bunk bed was a hit with the kids, though I did wish the upper bunk had a safety rail for added security.
We also appreciated being close to a Jumbo supermarket for affordable breakfast and salads.
The hotel offered free adult bike rentals, but I would have liked to see kids bikes available too. We ended up renting one from MacBike Oosterdok since the central location didn’t have any.
Given the price we paid, the rooms were much larger and more comfortable than anything we could find near Amsterdam Central, so the short tram ride was not a big deal.
The only downside was that only one of our rooms had air conditioning. The hotel offered to switch our second room to one with AC after the first night, but we chose to keep our existing rooms since they were next to each other.
Overall, I highly recommend The Hoxton, Lloyd Amsterdam for families looking for a comfortable stay in a great location.

Just stay here. Just do it. There is so much history and beauty in this building that has been brought to life not only through renovations and information but through the people that now work here. Fantastic service and cleanliness. Whilst it seems this is out of the way, it actually is - and thats a beaut thing about it. The walk into the 'centre' of Amsterdam is enjoyable but also a short few stops by tram which is right on the back doorstep of this fantastic hotel.
The only reason for the lower ranking in sleep quality is because this building is OLD - of course it is not soundproof like modern hotels because there are creaks and cracks and so on. Still worth staying here - light sleepers bring your ear plugs, you wont regret booking here.

The Hotel building is a nice nod to its prior use and history. Location is great, being out of the hustle and bustle of the city centre, yet has good connection links to everything. The thing that has let our stay down has been the service. Day 1, TVs broken and bar service was atrocious, Day two, 30 minute wait for 2 drinks. Day 3, room service never arrived, then when we went down for breakfast, was sat and waited another 25mins just to be offered a coffee. That evening we went to the bar and had to wait another 30 minutes just to receive 2 drinks again. On the last day we thought we would give the restaurant one last chance, yet again we were waiting 15 mins to have someone serve water- to which we had to ask. And again to order the drinks another 30 mins.
Every one of our bills were incorrect also.
We won't be returning.

It’s a former prison. The owners who initially turned it into a hotel made it a hipster location but nothing was functional and the service was a joke. Now that it’s a Hoxton, the interior design was redone to make it far more livable and the staff is outstanding. I had a great stay and will happily return to this location when again in Amsterdam. We also received an upgrade without asking which made things far more memorable and some small irritations that did occur while there were immediately addressed by the staff and remedied to my liking.

Stay here if you want to enjoy a laid back, quiet, thoroughly relaxing trip to Amsterdam. It’s not central, so don’t expect it to be. Two minutes walk to the tram and less than 10 minutes ride though and you’re slap bang in the centre. It’s quiet, with beautiful views across the river if you’re lucky enough to have a room that side. Thoroughly recommend room 311 for a really special treat. The staff are great, the cocktails are perfect and the food is wonderful. Nothing’s too much trouble, and everything feels and looks very classy. Will definitely be back.

Beautiful building, renovated stylishly and comfortable. The staff were welcoming and helpful throughout our stay, both front-desk and in the bars and restaurant.
The room was cosy and well equipped, with a very comfortable bed.
Breakfast at the restaurant and a cocktail at the bar were both great experiences - particularly the bar.
Would recommend making use of the free bikes as it’s still very easy to get anywhere centrally despite the location.
Only negative was a leak in the bathroom that meant the floor stayed wet - we warned the front desk on check out.
Thank you for a very enjoyable stay.

Unfortunately, this hotel did not live up to expectations. Bad service, poor value, and misleading photos can’t be made up for by a cool design and fun marketing.
This hotel definitely feels marketed towards millennials and young people in general. But the staff are clearly poorly trained and the hotel has the audacity to charge almost 400 euros a night for rooms in a musty basement. Even for the regular rooms it was overpriced because there are no amenities included but to pay that price and be in a basement is insulting.
There is no turn down service unless you request it the night before, no breakfast included for that price, no snacks in the room, in the “roomy” choice there is a queen size bed not a king which for the price is not normal, no slippers or robes, no additional benefits other than just a room that you have to call the front desk o request cleaning for. The bathrooms have no ventilation and the room has no individual climate control.
Also the restaurant service is weird, slow, and they ignored us most of the time unless we flagged them down. There was one young woman who was friendly and warm who served us our first morning. After that I avoided getting meals there.
The nightly price is absurd for the value and I would not recommend booking here for any reason.

Get a price from the driver before you let him/her put your cases/bags into their boot and you get in. Fares varied a great deal and we were stung €89 from the airport having just jumped in the first anva cab and only €42 on the return using UBER.
