The 3-star Rho hotel opened its doors in April 1989. The building was formerly used by an old Amsterdam gold trading company. The beautiful reception and lobby were once a theater, built in 1908 in Art-Deco style. The RHO HOTEL is located in the heart of the old city in a quiet side street, a few steps from the historic DAM square, the central square of Amsterdam, with the Royal Palace and the New Church. The Central Station is about 5 min. walking distance. Shopping and night life is, although its quiet location, all around the hotel. You find the best department stores, the unique MAGNA PLAZA shopping mall, and the long pedestrian shopping street "Kalverstraat" at walking distance. Excursions by bus or by boat are leaving from around the corner. Around the hotel are the canals with their historic houses

Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

Located right on the Dam square, very convenient, especially for first time travellers. The room was big, comfortable enough beds, plenty of sitting space in the lobby and a complimentary coffee/tea corner. Very good complimentary breakfast as well. Shower heads could do with a cleaning for better flow. Our room was on the first floor and quite noisy outside at night, no double glazed windows. Complimentary toiletries consist of individual sample like packs of shower gel/shampoo and body lotion. The shower gel one was really good and lovely smelling. The hand soap is a solid bar. All in all, would definitely recommend for a first time visit in the city as it's conveniently located and a very good hotel to come back to after a long day's exploring.

Stay here whenever I visit Amsterdam. The staff are great, very friendly and helpful. The location itself is perfect. Right in the center and only 10 minute walk from the train station. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and quiet. The way they are layout every room feels different and unique in its own way. Great bars and restaurants within walking distance. Will def be staying again for my next visit.

My family rented 3 rooms and only one had a/c which was not disclosed when booking! When we told the front desk, they offered to bring another fan. Additionally, they ‘accidentally’ charged credit card before we arrived. Our intention was to charge 3 cards since we could purchase night of arrival. The good news was the staff’s friendliness and willingness to help. GREAT location next to Dam square. If they had a/c, I would have given a higher rating.

Stayed here for 2 nights and found the hotel very pleasing. The rooms will vary in what daylight is provided due to its situation ie there were 6 of us in 3 rooms, one room had 2 windows, one room one window and the other one window but situated round a corner in the room so pretty dark! The rooms and shower area were suitable, free tea/coffee provided in the foyer and the breakfast was nice, particularly liked the scrambled egg and croissants. The hotel is well situated in the centre (just off Dam Square) with plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. Would recommend.

About a 15 minute walk from the train station on cobblestone sidewalks. The location was good and the breakfast was good. The room was fine. We did have a window washer guy pop up in our window early one morning with no warning at all so thank goodness we had our blinds closed because we were changing our clothes at that time. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We would stay here again.
