I had travelled with 2 friends to Amsterdam for the first time in the year of 2013. We stayed at Hotel Hestia and loved it! I personally loved going down in the mornings for the breakfast just to see their little, beautifully quaint garden. I had no qualms about the size and basics of the hotel, I think it is perfect for young people to stay in, especially if they will be out most of the day and only require a comfortable bed and good way to start the day. The staff were also very friendly and helpful! The location is great, only took 10-15 min to reach the main areas of the city, so it is very worth it!

I was told that this hotel will be closing on November 1, but I'll write the review anyway because credit where credit is due. This is a wonderful little hotel in the heart of Amsterdam. The single room I had was a bit small but having said that it suited me fine. It's within reasonable walking distance to Amsterdam's attractions and the staff were more than helpful during my stay. If you're planning a last minute trip to Amsterdam in the next few days then I highly recommend this hotel. Thanks again to all the staff and the best of luck to you all.

I cannot recommend this hotel for a visit. The rooms were old, looked very worn. The beds were ok, altho when booking we purchased king size bed, we got separate beds put together. The bathroom was falling apart and the shower water was completely random, varying from scolding hot to freezing cold in seconds. In addition, the walls seem to be paper thin, as we woke of our neighbours talking every morning. The location is good enough for it to get the hotel up from a 1 rating, but considering Amsterdam is so easy access there are a lot of other hotels in good locations. You can find better.

Hotel has an excellent location very close to (walking distance within 10 minutes) the most famous museums, canal cruise companies, rent-a-bike companies, the largest park in Amsterdam (Vondelpark). Single room is very small, however that was what I expected. Staff very friendly, the breakfast ok, but not worth the money (11 Eur).

Stayed at Hotel Hestia for three nights. The hotel was well located and in walking distance to the main shopping strip, a few restaurants, tram stop, the airport bus stop and a casino. The rooms were big enough, however the bathroom had an unpleasant smell. The hotel had all the basic necessities so was good enough for a few nights.

How do I get to the hotel by bus from Schipol or from Centraal Station?

"European hotels in older buildings usually have steep stairs. I have found an elevator to be essential. 2 rules for traveling: 1. have a sense of humor 2. expect the unexpected. When #2 happens, and it will, refer to #1."

"we stayed in room 36, it was a medium double room on the top floor. lots of natural light."

"Ask for a good flowing shower. Stairs are tiny. Lift is slow but bearable. If you have a lot of luggage (more than two hand luggages) avoid room 35."
