Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

We enjoyed Balthazar's Keuken. Constantly changing prix fixe menu. A fun culinary experience. As I recall, it's about a fifteen minute walk from the hotel.

The train station is in the airport. Follow the signa for trains. Before going down the escalator to the train there are ticket machines - get your ticket to central station - just over five euros - make your way to platform 1A - the train journey is 12 minutes - at central station turn left out of the main exit from the station look for number 24 tram which are every few mi utes - before boarding get a one hour ticket frim the machine on the pavement - just over three euros you can use your card - stay on the tram for three stops - get off at Pendain - walk forward to the next junction and hotels on the left hand corner before the canal bridge. Hope that helps.

We arranged with Banks Mansion for a car to pick us up and take us there. It was not much more than a taxi and the driver met us right outside customs. Made it very easy after a long flight.
