I had a very good room, that was big for Amsterdam standards. The bed was very comfortable, and there was no noise from outside, also due to the fact that my widows were on a small private street. Also the bathroom was very good.
There was no buffet breakfat when I visited, due to anti-covid measures, but they povided a standard platter with cheese, ham, tomatoes, cucumbers, egg, bread, toast, croissant, jam, butter, orange juice and coffee/tea/chocolate. So, breakfast was still quite enjoyable.
Staff were helpful and friendly.
Unfortunately due to covid, there is no buffet breakfast(and what is served is teally basic, boring and not tasty) and the rooms are not cleaned regularly - i guess it should be cleaned more nowadays not less...)
The manager never called me and I followed up on Monday morning in person. Francine is the manager and owner of this hotel and I told her my situation and what happened. She said I promise you the sheets were cleaned and that sometimes stains happen. I told her it was completely unacceptable and she said it just wasn't up to your standards. I said there was no checking of the room prior to a customer's stay and asked for her to pay for the first night of my stay at the new hotel since all of this happened around midnight after a long day of travel. She said she couldn't do anything about it and had already refunded me for my stay.
The front desk staff were all very nice and professional. They even ordered a taxi for us upon check out. There is one small elevator that did fit the two of us and our large luggage. The included continental breakfast was very good and plentiful in a lovely room. Great to start off our days touring. I loved the location on a small Straat with a cafe, restaurants, and right adjacent to the Old Church and nearby Dam Square. Due to the narrow size of this street, taxis need to pick up/drop off about 1/2 block away, which was not a problem for us, but could be for people with mobility issues. We walked to all the tourist sights from this central location. Definitely visit De Drie Fleschjes Bar next door for an authentic Dutch Gin Jenever experience.
"Pedestrian area, so taxi have to be prebooked. We opted to walk to and from the station, being in walking distance walking the Canal side pavement of Damrak is less busy."Read full review
"You’ll need to walk to the hotel, not far though. Parking is 200m away and 50€/day."Read full review
"Try to arrive earlier in the day as the crowds in the street do build up and it is a bit challenging to pull your piece (s) of luggage. "Read full review
