Best Western Dam Square Inn is located in a small and quiet street in the very city center, one minute walk from Dam Square. The hotel building dates from the 17th century and it originally hosted a distillery.

I had a very good room, that was big for Amsterdam standards. The bed was very comfortable, and there was no noise from outside, also due to the fact that my widows were on a small private street. Also the bathroom was very good.

There was no buffet breakfat when I visited, due to anti-covid measures, but they povided a standard platter with cheese, ham, tomatoes, cucumbers, egg, bread, toast, croissant, jam, butter, orange juice and coffee/tea/chocolate. So, breakfast was still quite enjoyable.

Staff were helpful and friendly.

I stayed for 3 nights at the Best Western Dam Square Inn and I can say that it was a great surprise. It is just a 10 minute walk from the central station, great location next to Dam Square and the main shops. The service from the staff is impeccable, I was helped several times and always all attentive and helpful. The room is simple, good size for those traveling alone, the bed is comfortable. A highlight for the breakfast served, many options of fruits, yogurts, cheeses, breads, coffee machine and cappucino, perfect. Below are recent photos of the Hotel's facade that no longer has the panel that shows on google street, so I ended up taking a while to find the same one on my arrival.

This hotel is very clean and quiet. We were on the second floor overlooking the main entrance which is surrounded by bars/restaurants. It was suprisingly quiet. The beds and pillows are extremely comfortable. The staff is very helpful and will store your bags for you before your room is ready or after you check out before you depart. The breakfast is great. Right in the heart of the Dam square and in the heart of Amsterdam.

We were so impressed by this hotel. It’s close to everything — walking distance to a lot of the sights we wanted to see, and literally around maybe two corners from Dam Square. There are many restaurants and stores steps away (including a bakery directly across from the entrance, and a Stroopwaffel bakery before you hit the next intersection), but the hotel itself is in kind of an alley, so it makes it feel tucked away and makes it less noisy than being on a main street. There are tram stops about a 2-minute walk away, and Centraal Station is about a 10-minute walk away. The room and bathroom were nice sizes, and our room looked out on a narrow alleyway. But the hotel impressed me for two reasons, neither of which I’ve ever encountered at a hotel before and which were both extremely appreciated: First, they have a tap in the lobby with still and sparkling waters, and they have glass decanters you can fill to take to your room, or you can fill your reusable water bottle (or the cute little metal one they gave us!) there. We used this daily, it was fantastic. Second, we usually choose not to have housekeeping every day when we stay in a hotel, so we had the Do Not Disturb sign on the door. When we came back from our first day of exploring, there was a laundry bag hanging on our door with fresh towels and a roll of toilet paper. I wish every hotel did this! I can’t believe this was the first time we’ve seen this done, but I hope it becomes policy at more hotels. There’s also a free breakfast, which was great! No hot items (there is a toaster), but there are meats and cheeses, breads, some veggies and fruits, cereals, yogurts, pastries, coffees and juices. The only minor complaint we had about the hotel was that the mattresses were softer than we like, but that is a small thing and we wouldn’t hesitate to book here again.

Good, peaceful, location, close to Dam Square and about 10 to 15 minutes walk from Amsterdam Central train station. Average room, but clean and had all we needed. The interior walls of the hotel could do with a paint, as it looks tired, but otherwise OK. The staff were very friendly and helpful and no problems checking in and out. Breakfast very dull. Several types of bread, croissants, cold meat and cold boiled eggs, yoghurts and juice, tea and coffee - that's about it. Nothing hot (except there is a toaster!). Frankly, for 250 Euros for a double room per night, I think they could lay on a bit of hot food. I had an issue with their pillows - far too big, made my neck ache and I did ask if they had smaller pillows, but apparently not. Other than that, all good.

Hotel is located literally 2 minutes by wall from Dam Square, which is very convenient. Staff is really helpful and nice.
Unfortunately due to covid, there is no buffet breakfast(and what is served is teally basic, boring and not tasty) and the rooms are not cleaned regularly - i guess it should be cleaned more nowadays not less...)

I arrived at 11:30pm on Saturday night to find multiple stains on the sheets and a hair on the pillow. I called down to the front desk to ask for a new room and they were completely booked for the night. I asked to speak to the manager and their was no manager on duty until Monday morning. The front desk worker came up with new sheets that were stained as well and I asked to have my room cleaned. He said he was the only one working and couldn't clean the room. As he was undoing the bed, he found another piece of hair under the pillow and the second set of sheets had stains on them too. I was completely grossed out and ended up booking another hotel for my stay and wouldn't recommend staying here. At midnight, we walked another 0.5 mile to the next hotel since transportation wasn't available at the hotel due to construction.

The manager never called me and I followed up on Monday morning in person. Francine is the manager and owner of this hotel and I told her my situation and what happened. She said I promise you the sheets were cleaned and that sometimes stains happen. I told her it was completely unacceptable and she said it just wasn't up to your standards. I said there was no checking of the room prior to a customer's stay and asked for her to pay for the first night of my stay at the new hotel since all of this happened around midnight after a long day of travel. She said she couldn't do anything about it and had already refunded me for my stay.

Just steps from 2 tram lines and Dam Square. Many restaurants nearby. Good breakfast (no hot foods) with range of coffees and juices plus delicious hot chocolate. Glass bottles in lobby could be filled with sparkling or still water and taken to our room. Loaner umbrellas were so helpful for rainy days. Friendly, helpful receptionists.

We loved our stay in the charming BW Dam Square Inn for 3 nights to be centrally located for touring this beautiful city. We like authentic European hotels with character and this fit the bill. Despite the age of this historic former distillery building, the rooms are rather modern with great A/C, as it was an early September heat wave when we visited. The room was small (don't expect American standards) but totally comfortable for our stay. The bed was comfortable and the modern bathroom had a great shower. Our room had one window that faced a small inner utility courtyard, but did give natural light. I only wish we had a luggage stand, as we had to place our suitcase on the floor.
The front desk staff were all very nice and professional. They even ordered a taxi for us upon check out. There is one small elevator that did fit the two of us and our large luggage. The included continental breakfast was very good and plentiful in a lovely room. Great to start off our days touring. I loved the location on a small Straat with a cafe, restaurants, and right adjacent to the Old Church and nearby Dam Square. Due to the narrow size of this street, taxis need to pick up/drop off about 1/2 block away, which was not a problem for us, but could be for people with mobility issues. We walked to all the tourist sights from this central location. Definitely visit De Drie Fleschjes Bar next door for an authentic Dutch Gin Jenever experience.

All hotels in the centre of Amsterdam are expensive and this hotel is no exception. I felt for the price paid, the room was fairly bland and basic. There was a kettle in the room but I felt that mugs and spoons could have been provided rather than thin paper cups and wooden stirrers. Small things like that make a difference in my opinion. There is a lift but with all the floors having navy walls and carpets, it was difficult to differentiate which floor you were actually on! There was a flimsy “coffee” table in the room which just got in the way and served no purpose. Having said that, the inclusive Dutch breakfast was very good and plentiful.
