The room was nice, small, but that suited us. The breakfast in the hotel was also very well designed. The day before you pre-ordered one of three options (continental, sweet or cooked breakfast) and all three were delicious. They came accompanied with orange juice and tea or coffee and everything was brought to the table.
The room was comfortable, and we made use of the coffee machine (can request more pods at the front desk), though as highlighted by others the bathroom door is somewhat see-through. We were comfortable enough with this and the middle section was frosted so we felt this was okay, however, be aware of this if staying with someone you don't know very well.
Location of the hotel is brilliant, a very short walk from the train station and there is a tram stop just down the road.
Staff offered to clean the rooms with pre-warning, however daily cleaning was not possible (completely understandable) due to the coronavirus risk. We did not have our rooms cleaned as we only stayed a few nights, but we were impressed that it was an option considering the circumstances.
All round a lovely hotel.
The gentleman that checked us in was most efficient and very pleasant and told us everything we needed to know about the hotel and the surrounding areas.
Nice breakfast room at the front of the hotel run by two very efficient and polite waiters. excellent choice of filling food which was regularly topped up and set you up for the day.
Coffee available free of charge all day in the entrance lobby along with minted water.
We felt the room cleaning was rather cursory but it didn't spoil our stay.
Only slight niggle was we asked if it was possible to keep our room an extra 30 minutes after the normal check out and a rather brusque lady on reception bluntly told us it would be 10 euros which seemed a bit much especially as we stayed for 4 nights and had already spent a considerable sum on the room. Overall a minor niggle though. Strangely our room keys stopped working at 11.00AM rather than the official check out time of 12.00.
We would certainly stay again when next visiting Amsterdam.
Hotel was modern and appeared well maintained. Our welcome from Laura on reception was very warm and friendly. She explained everything and offered us a map of Amsterdam too.
Hotel offers free tea, coffee and water 24/7 that you can help your self too. It also has a little area next to reception selling snacks and drinks and also a microwave for you to warm food up.
Reception are was warm and welcoming and had a number of comfy chairs and tables. This was a good area to socialize in or to eat some food. Hotel also has a restaurant/cafe if you want to buy food.
Room - modern but small. Very strange design to the room where the beds were put in between a desk and the foot of the beds were flush against a wall meaning that if you were more than 6ft tall you might have issues.
Room had safe deposit box, coffee machine and capsules. It also had a kettle and cups.
Rooms have air conditioning control but this can be set centrally by reception. I called and asked if they could turn up the heat and they did it straight away.
Main issue with the room, if you come as friends is that some of the bathrooms have glass walls. Whilst they are frosted up to should height, they provide very little privacy as you can still see things through them. The door also didn’t fit properly so could see in. If you come as a couple and don’t have an issue with going to toilet/shower etc in a bit very private way then this will not cause you any issues. If however you come as friends then it may well be an issue. Some rooms have full walls so not all have glass. Inside bathroom very modern.
Both lifts went out for most of one of the days which made it difficult for most on higher floors but not much hotel could do.
Hotel is very secure as you need your key card to access the hotel, the lifts the toilets and all the areas.
Building work outside. The tram line outside the hotel is being replaced and as such makes the approach to the hotel look like a building site and very muddy and messy if wet. Ask for a room with an internal view and you shouldn’t hear any noise from the works. If you have city view you may be disturbed in daytime.
TIP hotel has the main entrance and a smaller entrance/exit at the back onto a quieter road that doesn’t have any building work on it, so we used this all the time and avoided the mess outside the front.
After a good night on the Tuesday we returned to the hotel and five of us got in the lift to go to our rooms only for the lift to fail and we got stuck in it for 40 minutes and we lied too by the reception staff who told us they needed to call the fire service that would be 10 minutes and after 20 minutes we called again to be told they were waiting for a call back and after 40 minutes the lift reset and returned to the ground floor only for the reception staff to state it was our fault as the lift was only for 4 people even though it had a label with 6 people max on the outside and the internal label saying 8 people, felt as customers we were degraded by the staff.
We had no apology the next day and nothing was said when we booked out and have now emailed the parent company.
The hotel itself is in a good location however the staff are very haphazard with the room cleaning even though it asked us to put a out label on our door we returned on 4 days after leaving before 9am and returning after 4pm to find our room not cleaned and no new towels.
The rooms are of a good standard but some are small and the air conditioning was a godsend due to the temperature outdoors.
Overall, the service and the staff were pretty good, and the hotel is good VMF. The location is great and very close to central station and most major tourist sites.
We got a room with a very weird shape (trapezed) that made it very difficulty to move around the room.
It looked little then the 19 sqm described, so we requested to replace the room, but there was none available for that night, so we settled for what we got.
Room cleanliness was OK, but not top notch. The rooms are a bit old and required renovation. The wall to wall carpets, and wall carpets didn’t help much with the smell.
Bathroom door cannot be fully closed, so it is basically, part of the room. Not convenient if you are not sleeping alone.
We had an unfortunate event on the day before last, we went to tour the city, and returned around 5 PM, expecting a clean room with clean bed sheets (which we specifically requested that day to replace and put the correct sign on the bed, as needed),
But the room was not cleaned yet, although we left the hotel very early that morning. We called the reception and asked to send someone to clean the room. After 30 minutes, still no one showed up, so we went downstairs, and requested again to clean the room, and told them that we will be waiting in the lobby until its done.
15 minutes later, the lady from the desk told us that the room was cleaned. When we went up to the room, they just organized the room, it was not cleaned. There were some trash on the carpet, and the bedding was not replaced. (and it was before the 4th night). So we just gave up and went to take a nap, very disappointed.
My room was small (I know it was only a single but!) however could have benefitted from some new carpet (terribly stained) and a bedside table would have been nicely
What really let things down for me was clearly the hotel is operating without enough staff. In particular I refer to reception. At anyone time I only saw one person operating which meant queuing. Now being a Brit I don't mind queueing, but having to wait 40 minutes to get my room key and a bag from concierge (receptionist does both) because I was behind a group party checking in (who had been there an hour doing so) did test my patience somewhat. At no time did another member of staff appear to help deal with this. I have to say the member of staff dealing with this remained very calm and polite and could not be faulted. He was just let down by the fact he was having to operate alone.
If you are charging a premium price to stay then don't just rely on the fact you are in a prime location alone. Customers still need to deserve a service to back this up
This made a good base for us as we mainly walked all over the city with most attractions within 25 minutes walk.
The hotel was clean and modern and the staff friendly. The room itself was a tad on the small size for two people as there was barely room to walk around the bed without banging toes or tripping on chairs or the suitcase. However, it was clean, the bed was comfy, airconditoned, and barely any noise from outside.
Complimentary tea and coffee machine in the lobby.
