Nestled in the heart of the city, Westcord City Centre Hotel Amsterdam boasts a modern aesthetic appreciated by guests, though its room layouts and decor have received mixed reviews, with some finding spaces tight. The rooms earn praise for their cleanliness and comfort despite their compact size and unique frosted glass bathrooms that raise privacy concerns for some. While the central location is a highlight, providing easy access to attractions and dining, opinions on value and noise levels are varied. The staff's friendliness stands out, even as a few guests note service inconsistencies.

The hotel staff were very accomodating from the off. Travel at the moment is very different, however the staff tried to make things feel as comfortable as possible.

The room was nice, small, but that suited us. The breakfast in the hotel was also very well designed. The day before you pre-ordered one of three options (continental, sweet or cooked breakfast) and all three were delicious. They came accompanied with orange juice and tea or coffee and everything was brought to the table.

The room was comfortable, and we made use of the coffee machine (can request more pods at the front desk), though as highlighted by others the bathroom door is somewhat see-through. We were comfortable enough with this and the middle section was frosted so we felt this was okay, however, be aware of this if staying with someone you don't know very well.

Location of the hotel is brilliant, a very short walk from the train station and there is a tram stop just down the road.

Staff offered to clean the rooms with pre-warning, however daily cleaning was not possible (completely understandable) due to the coronavirus risk. We did not have our rooms cleaned as we only stayed a few nights, but we were impressed that it was an option considering the circumstances.

All round a lovely hotel.

We booked the westcord city centre hotel as part of an easyJet city break. The hotel itself is superbly located, allowing you easy access to anywhere you may wish to go in the city. The staff at the hotel are great very professional and friendly. Check in was seamless and efficient. We had a room on the fifth floor (520) and we have no complaints at all spotlessly clean, great shower, coffee making Nespresso machine and a safe, very comfortable bed, with a good view over the m Gyain road. In fact I have nothing negative to comment on about the hotel at all. We had breakfast on our last morning before departure and it was spot on, in fact when you take into account the cost of local eateries it represents good value. Amsterdam is far from a cheap place to visit, with some eateries better than others but I have reviewed those separately. A big thumbs up to the westcord city centre hotel and it's staff. We will be back.

This hotel is fantastic. It's very clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. We booked the breakfast which was great value for money though it says English breakfast there was only bacon and eggs and toast but a wide variety of yogurts cereals cakes cheese meats and rolls all unlimited. By the reception area there is a coffee and tea vending machine which is complimentary for guests, the rooms are nice bathroom wall clear glass in areas but enough to spare blushes, the location could not be better 5-minute walk from the train station city Centre and red-light district, would most definitely stay there again Pub next door called London Bridge also worth s visit

Hotel is in a great location, only 10 minutes or so walk from Central Station and a tram stop is outside the door if you don't want to walk.
The gentleman that checked us in was most efficient and very pleasant and told us everything we needed to know about the hotel and the surrounding areas.
Nice breakfast room at the front of the hotel run by two very efficient and polite waiters. excellent choice of filling food which was regularly topped up and set you up for the day.
Coffee available free of charge all day in the entrance lobby along with minted water.
We felt the room cleaning was rather cursory but it didn't spoil our stay.
Only slight niggle was we asked if it was possible to keep our room an extra 30 minutes after the normal check out and a rather brusque lady on reception bluntly told us it would be 10 euros which seemed a bit much especially as we stayed for 4 nights and had already spent a considerable sum on the room. Overall a minor niggle though. Strangely our room keys stopped working at 11.00AM rather than the official check out time of 12.00.
We would certainly stay again when next visiting Amsterdam.

Great points - hotel is in a very good location and can be reached on foot from central station in under 10 mins. Also so close to all the main areas.
Hotel was modern and appeared well maintained. Our welcome from Laura on reception was very warm and friendly. She explained everything and offered us a map of Amsterdam too.
Hotel offers free tea, coffee and water 24/7 that you can help your self too. It also has a little area next to reception selling snacks and drinks and also a microwave for you to warm food up.
Reception are was warm and welcoming and had a number of comfy chairs and tables. This was a good area to socialize in or to eat some food. Hotel also has a restaurant/cafe if you want to buy food.

Room - modern but small. Very strange design to the room where the beds were put in between a desk and the foot of the beds were flush against a wall meaning that if you were more than 6ft tall you might have issues.
Room had safe deposit box, coffee machine and capsules. It also had a kettle and cups.
Rooms have air conditioning control but this can be set centrally by reception. I called and asked if they could turn up the heat and they did it straight away.
Main issue with the room, if you come as friends is that some of the bathrooms have glass walls. Whilst they are frosted up to should height, they provide very little privacy as you can still see things through them. The door also didn’t fit properly so could see in. If you come as a couple and don’t have an issue with going to toilet/shower etc in a bit very private way then this will not cause you any issues. If however you come as friends then it may well be an issue. Some rooms have full walls so not all have glass. Inside bathroom very modern.

Both lifts went out for most of one of the days which made it difficult for most on higher floors but not much hotel could do.

Hotel is very secure as you need your key card to access the hotel, the lifts the toilets and all the areas.

Building work outside. The tram line outside the hotel is being replaced and as such makes the approach to the hotel look like a building site and very muddy and messy if wet. Ask for a room with an internal view and you shouldn’t hear any noise from the works. If you have city view you may be disturbed in daytime.

TIP hotel has the main entrance and a smaller entrance/exit at the back onto a quieter road that doesn’t have any building work on it, so we used this all the time and avoided the mess outside the front.

Travelled with our family, it took ages to book us in and they gave us the wrong rooms with my daughter getting our city view and myself and my wife being put on the 1st floor, the staff were unhelpful to say the least. The breakfast was good but kept running out of items and took them ages to restock the buffet.
After a good night on the Tuesday we returned to the hotel and five of us got in the lift to go to our rooms only for the lift to fail and we got stuck in it for 40 minutes and we lied too by the reception staff who told us they needed to call the fire service that would be 10 minutes and after 20 minutes we called again to be told they were waiting for a call back and after 40 minutes the lift reset and returned to the ground floor only for the reception staff to state it was our fault as the lift was only for 4 people even though it had a label with 6 people max on the outside and the internal label saying 8 people, felt as customers we were degraded by the staff.
We had no apology the next day and nothing was said when we booked out and have now emailed the parent company.
The hotel itself is in a good location however the staff are very haphazard with the room cleaning even though it asked us to put a out label on our door we returned on 4 days after leaving before 9am and returning after 4pm to find our room not cleaned and no new towels.
The rooms are of a good standard but some are small and the air conditioning was a godsend due to the temperature outdoors.

We stayed for 4 nights at the end of January.

Overall, the service and the staff were pretty good, and the hotel is good VMF. The location is great and very close to central station and most major tourist sites.

We got a room with a very weird shape (trapezed) that made it very difficulty to move around the room.
It looked little then the 19 sqm described, so we requested to replace the room, but there was none available for that night, so we settled for what we got.

Room cleanliness was OK, but not top notch. The rooms are a bit old and required renovation. The wall to wall carpets, and wall carpets didn’t help much with the smell.
Bathroom door cannot be fully closed, so it is basically, part of the room. Not convenient if you are not sleeping alone.

We had an unfortunate event on the day before last, we went to tour the city, and returned around 5 PM, expecting a clean room with clean bed sheets (which we specifically requested that day to replace and put the correct sign on the bed, as needed),
But the room was not cleaned yet, although we left the hotel very early that morning. We called the reception and asked to send someone to clean the room. After 30 minutes, still no one showed up, so we went downstairs, and requested again to clean the room, and told them that we will be waiting in the lobby until its done.

15 minutes later, the lady from the desk told us that the room was cleaned. When we went up to the room, they just organized the room, it was not cleaned. There were some trash on the carpet, and the bedding was not replaced. (and it was before the 4th night). So we just gave up and went to take a nap, very disappointed.

I travelled here with my mum, as her 70th birthday treat. I booked a room each and very glad I did because the bathroom is basically a glass cubicle in the room with a non sealing or locking door. It is partially frosted but basically no privacy at all so I would only recommend sharing a room with someone you don’t mind sharing your most private ablutions with! But apart from that, the rooms are clean and comfortable, if slightly on the small side. The location is the best bit as it is on the main tram line street, in the heart of Amsterdam, with the central station a few minutes walk to your left and all of the city surrounding you on every side. There are lots of side alleys, canals, restaurants, attractions on your doorstep, or you can get the tram easily and quickly anywhere else. The tram stop is almost in front of the hotel. The hotel staff were lovely and the breakfast was good. I would definitely stay here again, albeit with my own room! I would have given five stars, but for the bathroom.

The hotel is in a good central location with a tram stop outside and a 5 minute stroll from Amsterdam central station. Clearly there is a premium to pay for this, however I did not feel this was value enough given my overall experience.
My room was small (I know it was only a single but!) however could have benefitted from some new carpet (terribly stained) and a bedside table would have been nicely
What really let things down for me was clearly the hotel is operating without enough staff. In particular I refer to reception. At anyone time I only saw one person operating which meant queuing. Now being a Brit I don't mind queueing, but having to wait 40 minutes to get my room key and a bag from concierge (receptionist does both) because I was behind a group party checking in (who had been there an hour doing so) did test my patience somewhat. At no time did another member of staff appear to help deal with this. I have to say the member of staff dealing with this remained very calm and polite and could not be faulted. He was just let down by the fact he was having to operate alone.
If you are charging a premium price to stay then don't just rely on the fact you are in a prime location alone. Customers still need to deserve a service to back this up

We chose this hotel for our four night city break because of its central location for sightseeing and transport links - tram stop out front and train station / metro less than a five minute walk. The airport was 20 minutes by train at a very reasonable cost.

This made a good base for us as we mainly walked all over the city with most attractions within 25 minutes walk.

The hotel was clean and modern and the staff friendly. The room itself was a tad on the small size for two people as there was barely room to walk around the bed without banging toes or tripping on chairs or the suitcase. However, it was clean, the bed was comfy, airconditoned, and barely any noise from outside.

Complimentary tea and coffee machine in the lobby.

Try Mortimer for breakfast. A tiny place almost opposite the hotel. Think it has a green canopy. Very popular with locals for coffee and breakfast. We had breakfast there when we arrived early on our first day.
