hi is it easy to get tram from airport or is it a taxi ride?

From Schiphol Airport's arrival area, you just walk towards the middle part before you exit. The train ticket booths are there and the ticket desk. It is easy to just take the bus or train from the airport to the city centre. It only takes less than 30 mins. to get to the centre. I always use the train.

is safe for Americans to be out and about in Amsterdam? What’s a good hotel to stay in the city.

Very safe place. I dropped some money and a taxi driver and a member of the public both shouted at me to alert me. That was in the red light district! Loads of hotels to pick from but ones like "The Exchange" have a good position.

Yes, you just need to let them Know in advance 😁

Wonderful hotel & staff

We had a lovely stay in room 605 for 2 nights. 2 balconies, lots of space, and comfy big king bed. The interior decor was really quirky, the only thing missing was a fridge, which we would of expected to have in one of the suites. Strong WiFi, good location good if you want to be super central and close to Amsterdam Central station (5 min walk). …

Nice Reception Staff

Really nice reception staff. Welcoming and efficient. Stayed on the first floor. Room had very little natural light. Very small but good bathroom. Problem: the hotel staff think it is OK to unload all the cleaning materials at 5am and the noise in the corridor is an issue on floor 1 at least. Good internet. Stayed one night pre to us going on a cruise [wish it was longer] Arrived early so nice chap on front desk took our luggage and put in storage till we came back. hotel is ideally situated ,All staff we met were lovely . Great hotel!

Arrived at 11am so was unable to check in to booked room (check in is at 3pm and did know this) but was offered a different room that was a cancellation. This made me extremely happy as it came with two balconys. Great for relaxing on after a long day walking around. Room itself was quite spacious (and moderately decorated compared to some of the other rooms!) and very clean. Very helpful and friendly staff and in a great location. Highly recommended. Thanks to all the staff at Hotel The Exchange for making it such a pleasant stay.…

Loved it

I stayed from the 2nd till the 5th of September at The Exchange Amsterdam and i just loved the hotel. The location of course is perfect, just a few minutes from central station. But also the concept of the hotel is very nice. They showed me on a catalogue a few rooms, each one in a different design and i chose the 222. The staff at the front desk was very nice and helpful, even helped us to find some shopping area and how to get there by train. I definitely recommend that hotel and will stay there again on my next visit of Amsterdam…
