Directly on the Keizersgracht, one of the most picturesque canals in the heart of Amsterdam, you will find Sebastian's, a contemporary three-star hotel with a unique and sophisticated design and atmosphere. Whether you are in the capital city for business or to enjoy the vibrant nightlife of Amsterdam, Sebastian's is the place to be. The location alone is worth the stay: a stone's throw from the Jordaan district, with its numerous cafés and restaurants, and Haarlemmerstraat, home to a wide variety of shops and a number of colourful Amsterdam outdoor markets. The hotel bar also boasts a unique and charming atmosphere. It is a ‘real' bar with a contemporary, trendy design and a meeting place for both young and old, who come here to enjoy a delicious cappuccino, cold beer or glass of one of the wide range of wines served. All of this can be enjoyed in a relaxed, jazzy setting.

Detailed Reviews
This is a very nice hotel, we only stayed the one night in one of the better rooms. The room was huge and the bathroom was enormous which was very pleasant. There is a nespresso machine in the room which we took full advantage of. Our room backed onto a quiet garden which was nice. The staff at reception were very friendly and welcoming with no fuss.
We ordered breakfast to our room for 0830. By 0840 I called the front desk who had clearly ignored our request despite this being clearly labelled on the form. They brought our food to the room but it had clearly been sitting on the table in the restaurant for several minutes as it was now completely cold and they brought us no cutlery to eat it with so we had to wait several more minutes for that. Should I really complain? Yes, this is certainly one of the more expensive restaurants and it's proximity to the train station means people will likely be travelling and have connections to keep so running late with breakfast is not acceptable.
Aside from this major foul-up the stay was very pleasant and I would generally recommend the hotel.

We were a group of three ladies, arriving from two different countries, to celebrate a fabulous 50th birthday. I had contacted the hotel ahead of time to see about special festive additions to the room (wine, cheeky print outs to give the birthday girl a laugh) and a staffer (I believe his name was Garvey) provided EXCEPTIONAL service and went above and beyond to make it a special stay indeed.
Our room was spacious and had a convenient door to an outside patio space where we could step out for fresh air. The bathroom was very roomy and beautiful.
The location is perfect: juuuust outside of the bustling city center but not too far from anything you could possibly need or want.
I fell in love with Amsterdam (this was my first time) and I definitely see another visit AND another stay at Sebastian's in my future. =)

Stayed here for two nights. Very nice.
My husband was a Hotel Manager at various places for many years, so does notice how well (or not so well) an establishment is operating. He really enjoyed it.
Our lunchtime flight got cancelled and our evening flight was delayed. Our car from the airport arrived late too, so it was after 11.00pm when we finally arrived at the hotel. Reception opened for us and were very welcoming. Staff were always friendly, polite and efficient during our stay.
Some renovations appear to be going on, but were not intrusive to guests - they have workmen there during times that guests are not busy checking in/out.
Hotel is well maintained and clean, with quality decor and well furnished.
I usually struggle with sleeping in a bed, as I have a back injury and sleep on a sofa at home. I didn’t even notice any pain at all (very unusual) as the bed was perfect. Supportive and very comfortable.
The room was a good size, quiet and the addition of adjustable air heater and hairdryer were a godsend for drying hair/clothing/shoes from the torrential rain !.
The bathroom was very clean with a lovely selection of quality brand toiletries available - shampoo, shower gel, body lotion etc.
There was plenty of hot water and numerous settings on the power shower.
There were just three small, minor points:
We had no towels in our bathroom when we arrived, but staff sorted that out quickly for us.
There is no sloping floor to the drain or edging around the shower area. The drain strip is small and not well positioned - so the water completely flooded the entire bathroom floor each time (those free slippers came in handy).
The coffee ‘pod’ machine in the room didn’t have the full range of coffee pods shown on the box available in the room and on the second day the machine wouldn’t work at all, had water but kept taking in pods and made no drink.
Overall I was very impressed. I would definitely stay here again. 9/10.

We arrived late at night into a sleepy area of Amsterdam. We were greeted with a smile and shown to our room.
The room was compact, but stylish and everything we needed for our 3 night stay.
Room was cleaned everyday and the tea and coffee facilities topped up daily at no extra cost.
All the staff were smiley happy people who were always on hand when we needed any questions answering.
We didn’t stay in for breakfast as we found several places nearby for food.
I would definitely stay here again if we visit Amsterdam again, a great area to base yourself if you want to walk around the main areas. It was quiet so you could sleep in if you have late nights, but plenty open if you’re up and about early doors.

One week prior to our stay at hotel Sebastian's, I contacted them to ask for a refund of voucher due to the Corona virus. The reception informed that no refunds of vouchers to reschedule were given, but we would be very welcome to stay at the hotel. She assured me that the hotel would stay open and breakfast would be served.
Upon arrival today, the hotel was closed. Nobody was there, telephone off the hook, not even a sign on the door.
Booking.com transferred us to a different hotel and saved our trip.
Needless to say we will never return to Sebastian's who never informed us that they were closed for business.

We booked our trip over a year in advance but due to Covid asked to reschedule our paid for room. They refused and did not help at all. Even the hotel we booked in Munich walking distance to Oktoberfest (we were going for Oktoberfest) allowed us to reschedule. We are out several hundreds of dollars as this hotel would not assist in any way during a global pandemic. Now that we are finally going to be going on the trip, we are looking forward to booking with another hotel that has much better customer service.

Room:
We had a clean and comfy family room with garden view (which was not much of a view, but it was too hot to open curtains anyway). It had a really comfy beds, including a super king bed, and 2 singles. There was air con, a coffee machine and kettle (for free hot drinks), hairdryer and alarm clock. There was also a fridge (chargeable mini bar). The TV was good although not all channels worked. Bathroom had shower cubicle and shower in bath, with two sinks and very nice house toiletries. There were clean towels and new loo rolls provided every day (not needed just for 3 nights).
Breakfast: extra
Delicious but more cost effective options are available locally, e.g Cafe Thijssen 2mins walk away.
Service:
Great, friendly and helpful staff who were willingly to answer any questions or deal with any queries.
Location:
Great central location as 10mins walk from Central Station, which has a lot of tourist attractions (Bodyworlds, Tony's Chocolonely, Canal tours), 10mins to Anne Frank Huis, 30mins to Rijksmuseum.
Value for money:
On the expensive side for sure, but a great city centre hotel in peak season.

Unprofessionally Management re COVID Cancellation Policy
We booked a 4 night stay of nearly $2000 USD value for Summer 2020 that was cancelled due to the pandemic. Hotel refused to refund money and instead gave a credit that expired in 12 months. We were unable to travel in Summer 2021 as we were not vaccinated yet. After no replies via email last Spring, we called the hotel to kindly request an exception with a smaller room and less nights stay due to the precarious and difficult travel conditions in Summer 2021 and received the following response today. This hotel management/ownership has no compassion and completely unreasonable and unprofessional:
Warm greetings from Hotel Sebastian’s!
We would like to inform that your voucher is expired cause in june 2021 in Netherlands we don’t have hardly lock down. I am so sorry of that .
All the best and we are very much looking forward to be hearing from you,
With warm regards,
Front office and Reservations.

The hotel is in a fantastic location – walkability to various points of interest was easy and it’s removed from the main tourist areas, so it’s quiet and quaint. There is a massive number of local restaurants, coffee houses, shops, etc. within a stone’s throw, so you can always find a fun place to pop in. I, personally, loved walking down the block to the local coffee shop every morning to get my latte! We were two friends traveling and we opted to book a larger room with a queen bed + twin bed so that we would have more space and be more comfortable – it’s Europe, so the rooms are small! If you want a few more feet of square footage, I recommend doing what we did to be comfortable, especially if you are there for a few days. The room and the bathrooms were both spotless – the only negative I would give is that the hair blowdryer was horrible. I would definitely go back – overall magnificent experience.

Just returned from a stay at Hotel Sebastian's and couldn't wait to write the review!
We had originally booked one 5 person family room for July 1st-July 7th for my 5 person family (3 kids), but Amsterdam's unpredictable weather had other plans and unfortunately that room needed some work after a bad storm. Melanie reached out personally and offered me several solutions, including a full refund or two rooms right scross from eachother. We took the two rooms which were on the third floor and it was just as great. Spacious and one had a beautiful canal view with large windows that would open. I spent hours sitting at that window and loving that view.
Check in was a breeze and the man at the desk was very apologetic explaining that as of January Amsterdam increased their tax on hotel stays to 12%. So the tax portion owed at check in was higher than expected but something that all hotels were dealing with and not the fault of Sebastian's.
Location is great. An 8-9 minute walk to Centraal Station and so close to everything we wanted to see, including the Ann Frank House, 9 Streets, the Jordaan. And staff offered a list of great food places and a concierge service for booking tours or reservations.
The Nespresso machines were clean and easy to operate and every day were replenished. In fact, the head of housekeeping introduced herself in the hall and asked me to let her know if there was anything else she could so to make our stay perfect. I let he know that the rooms were spotless and cleaned every day while we were out exploring. It couldn't have been better.
I also loved talking football (soccer) with the desk every day. The Netherlands are still in the Euro and I loved the excitement that the locals had for their team.
We booked breakfast the last two days and were personally served by the same man who checked us in. I wish I had asked for his name because he was so helpful and personable. Definitely a good person and the breakgfast was wonderful. Be sure to order the night before!!
In closing I told them at checkout that if I were ever able to come back to Amsterdam I would only book Sebastian's and I mean that. Perfect stay with great people and an ideal location.

I do not recall having a fridge in the room.
It is a neat and atmospheric hotel but pretty sure there is no fitness centre. You can contact the hotel and ask them directly to confirm.

Yes they supply you with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body lotion in the bathroom. I hope this helps you as it is a wonderful hotel and my stay there was superb.
Hi
Can't answer on behalf of the hotel, but, as a frequent traveller, who is going thru similar issues in other geographies, I abhor the practices of the hospitality industry when they do not offer full refunds on cancellations. I have decided not to align with such hospitality partners in the future
