The Van der Valk Hotel Amsterdam - Amstel garners praise for its spick-and-span rooms and easily accessible location near public transport, facilitating seamless exploration of Amsterdam. While its rooms win accolades for their cleanliness and aesthetic appeal, the soundproofing and air quality have room for improvement. The hotel's atmosphere is frequently described as stylish and welcoming, with particularly vibrant dining options. Although the service receives mixed reviews, the amenities, including the spa and breakfast buffet, are popular highlights. However, guests are divided on the hotel's value, citing concerns over unexpected costs.

This is a hotel with a modern feel to it. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated with blue tooth connection to speakers in your room and an airdrop charging point next to the bed as well as little things like having a coffee machine in each room in addition a kettle.
There’s a spa, gym and swimming pool as well as a restaurant and a bar that has a nice ambiance to it in the evening.
The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and it’s a short walk away from a metro station that gave us easy access to central Amsterdam (5 stops away) the Ziggo dome and Schiphol airport.
You can buy a two day travel card at the metro station for €14 that gives you unlimited journeys on the metro for that time.

The only slight criticism I would have is that the optional breakfast is overpriced at €20 each, there is limited space for hanging clothes and I had a view of a building site in the foreground from my room but at £125 per night for a double room in what is over wise a great hotel so close to the city you can’t complain.

Absolutely beautiful hotel. We stayed as a family if 5 in 3 rooms - comfort room with twin beds, comfort room with open bathroom and a superior room. All the rooms are beautifully decorated and come with all the luxuries you’d expect in a 5 star hotel. The views from the rooms look across the city and even although the hotel is in quite an industrial style area, you can take the metro into the city in about 12 minutes. The housekeeping is second to none and you have the option to have your bed linen changed on the 3rd day of your stay. Lovely fresh white towels and bedding in all rooms. Breakfast is an experience where you can have anything from pancakes to salad! All lovely fresh produce and the best pancakes we have ever tasted. The reception staff are helpful and if you’re planning on travelling in and out of Amsterdam a few times a day, we recommend getting a metro/tram pass from them (€20 for 72 hours travel). We will definitely be back and have already recommended to others. Thank you Van der Valk Amstel.

Hotel was beautiful. Decor made the hotel feel luxurious. Had very good facilities. I stayed in a comfort room which was very clean and comfortable. Pillows big and soft. Sheets felt good on the skin. Had a rainforest shower which I loved, and also had the option to use a hand held one two. Used the wellness centre spa ‘De Tropin’ which was included in the room price and was fantastic and well equipped. Went at 07:30 in the am and had the spa to myself for 2 hours which was great. Didn’t originally go for the breakfast option, however decided to include it after my first night. Breakfast was very good. Lots of options with both food and beverages and someone to make fresh egg based dishes and pancakes. Staff was friendly and always welcoming. Visited the in house lounge bar ‘Moqum’ which had great atmosphere and decor. Also had one of the best Margarita’s I have had in a long while. The hotel is a 10 minute train ride to the city centre and a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The one negative I had about the hotel was the mattresses on the twin beds. Although comfortable, they did keep sliding off the box frame and had to readjusted constantly as previous reviewers have said. Will definitely be returning to the Van der valk. Had a great time.

The walls are very thin so you can hear everything in the corridor and other rooms. Also there was some sort or renovation near us. Furthermore, the whole building moves from the train vibrations. The air conditioning system going into "night mode" means you will get very hot and almost suffocate. We didn't get a good night sleep.
The pool is not covered so we couldn't use it with the baby because it will be cold to take her out of the water.
The room is a bit dark.

Breakfast was fantastic. Staff was very friendly and attentive. The hotel is very clean. The room is well maintained and clean. Feels new. The parking lot is very clean and comfortable. The sheets and towels were clean and smelled good.
Get a room on a high floor with river view. Come with a car or use the train it is very close to the hotel. The junior suite was practical. There is a 24hr pizza service. Close to the highway. 15 min to the airport.

It's not close to Amsterdam centrum and while the Metro stop is close, it feels like you are in an industrial area. The employees are all very professional and kind and the room was clean and comfortable but they require you to sign a form saying you won't do drugs, have parties, etc. That felt very negative to me.

Me and my partner stayed for the weekend during ADE. The location is quick and easy to get to and from the airport, and also to get to Amsterdam Centraal. The station is a 5minute walk from the hotel.
The hotel is decorated beautifully and had a romantic vibe to the place.
We stayed in a superior room on the 17th floor which very clean and spacious with an excellent view! The bed and pillows were super comfy. The jacuzzi bath in the room was good.
When we checked in they asked if we minded being next to the lift, which we didn't, and we didn't hear any noise.
The spa facilities were excellent!! Multiple saunas and steam rooms, a heated pool - again beautifully decorated and was a very calm and relaxing area - a perfect way to finish off a lively weekend.
Bar Moqum is stunning and we had a dinner in Restaurant Amstelle; not the best food but is a lovely setting and handy. We didn't think much of the breakfast - I don't think I would have minded but we had to pay for 1x which was €24 (not worth it) as the hotel booking was only for 1x person. I don't normally make mistakes when booking hotels, trips etc. and one of the staff advised that there are often booking errors when using booking.com so I suggest double checking your booking confirmation to ensure the correct number of guests are logged. When we checked in it would have been helpful if reception had advised us that the booking was for only 1 person so the other would need to pay.

Very bad experience with a yelling front desk night auditor. Claiming he called me several times to pick up the room service ordered by phone. The phone never rang. When told that he needs to fix this issue he said he did not need to do anything about it and that he called several times, the phone never rang.

They promote a room service that is not a room service you need to go down and pick up the food yourself. They promote a €10 delivery fee if you want it brought up to the room, but this was also not possible. So no other choice than to be called when food is ready with a phone that does not work.

Terrible service. Arrogant front desk agent that raises his voice at guests. Before me guests were also complaining and he did not seem to care.

Property Owners should know about this, he ruins their investment.

Located outside the main city centre it was still only 10 mins on a metro to get to. All staff we met were excellent and the room was amazing. Would definitely recommend. We were on the 12th floor but no problems with noise from any other rooms.
Food and service in the restaurant were also exceptional.

That was unexpected and uncalled for break in my travel caused by a much-delayed klm flight. After a short altercation at klm customer relations desk I was offered a night at this hotel. It is inconveniently located 10 minutes away by a dedicated shuttle from the airport. Can’t be helped, after all it’s one of the biggest airports in Europe, can’t be clogged by hotels. At check in staff was competent and polite, though perhaps a bit too formal. My room was very comfortable and had it not been for an early rise i would have slept very well. An added bonus in nice weather is a South facing balcony. Toiletries were high quality, which I enjoyed. This being Saturday with all tables booked similarly stranded passengers like myself were offered supper in their rooms. I had delicious fish and a lemon sorbet, very good. Breakfast at an ungodly 5am was exceptionally high quality. Pity I had so little time to enjoy it.

My daughter and I truly enjoyed our stay at The Van Der Valk Hotel.
The location was perfect, a short trip on the metro from Overamstel took us to any location we wished to visit in the city.
Our twin, comfort room was spacious and very comfortable with a boutique feel. Cleanliness in our room and in the hotel overall was spot on.
The spa facilities and pool are wonderful, very clean and just perfect to relax in.
There are toiletries and snacks to purchase in the lobby if required.
The staff were very friendly and so helpful.

I paid 10 euro per day for the parking. But I was told that was because I made my reservation directly with the hotel. I think if you reserve through 3th parties you pay 20 euro per day.
