One of my childhood ambitious was walking on the clouds and I have experienced it when I got to the Uto Kulm hotel on top of Zurich. The view from room window and the sidewalk in front of the hotel is like that you are standing or walking on CLOUDS!
If you want to visit historical part of the city and don’t eager to enjoy nature of Zurich, this hotel may not be a good choice because it takes approximately 45 min to get to central train station from there, but if you want to enjoy Swiss weather, rest in quiet nature, relax in front of spectacular view and walk through mountain forest, Uto KULM would surely be the best choice. This hotel located in car free area so getting there from the train station needs 10 min walk which would be difficult carrying your suitcase, but if call the reception before your arrival, they will carry your luggage and handle everything. Of course, one of the main advantage of Uto Kulm Hotel is its staff who are really kind, extremely welcoming and very helpful.
Also the breakfast was nice especially honey was the best I have ever tasted and if you are a steak lover, you can enjoy a very nice steak with reasonable price in winter restaurant of the hotel. There are a lot of different places for eating in the hotel where you can also try traditional gourmet stuff like käsefondue in Maiensäss (a Swiss cottage style area).
If I go to Zurich again, Uto Kulm will be my choice without any hesitation.

I booked the Tête-à -Tête experience for my boyfriend and I.
The view over Lake Zürich and the city of Zürich from our room was absolutely stunning. Furthermore, there were a lot of great walks and hikes in the area.
The highlight of our stay was the candlelight dinner, our table was wonderful, the food was excellent and our waiters were very kind.
Additionally, buffet breakfast was included in the offer and we enjoyed a big variety of tasty food.
We had a lovely stay and I can only recommend the hotel and restaurant.

Stayed in the hotel for 3 nights over Christmas. The setting at Christmas is magical, we were actually very lucky with the weather considering the season and managed to get some very clear views of the city, as well as the sunrise and sunset. The pictures of the Winter Wonderland that the hotel turns into at Christmas is not an exaggeration, it was a perfect setting for our Christmas break.
The walk up to the hotel isn't long but is up hill, and is absolutely NOT recommended with big luggage. We thought we could manage and didn't realise that the hotel would drive down and pick up your luggage for you so we made the trek on the first day ourselves and it almost killed us! If you book here, when you arrive at the station before you make the walk, call the hotel and they'll come get your luggage so you don't have to lug it up.
The rooms were simple but comfortable. The views were amazing, well worth picking one of the panoramic rooms.
The restaurant was lovely, staff extremely friendly. Highlight was the Sunday Brunch on Christmas Day which was a spread and three-quarters! It is expensive, but that's just Zurich.
The only other niggle was we asked for an iron and iron board for our clothes and we were told we could give our clothes to be ironed at reception, which we did, but weren't informed there would be a charge until we got the clothes back with an invoice for 35 CHF.
All in all a lovely hotel for a short break! Would recommend.

My husband and I traveled from Interlaken to Zurich to stay in this hotel. First, when we called to see if the hotel had air conditioning (because nothing in Switzerland is air conditioned), they said the room we booked did not and only the suites did. When I asked if we could upgrade, they told me it was too expensive without even asking my budget. I got ahold of the third party whom we booked the room through and they tried to cancel the room for us because we knew we could not sleep in such heat. The hotel declined, but then offered to upgrade us to the suite (finally) for an additional $80. However, our room stayed at 26°C/78° F (WITH a fan running) throughout the entire night. It was so hot that my husband actually got sick. Before we finally arrived to the hotel, we waited at the train station and missed our train. We were terrified that the same thing would happen the next day and could miss our flight out, so we called the hotel to see if they would refund our room so we could stay near the airport. They refused, so we ended up having to pay for an Uber to get us to the hotel. However, the furthest you can go in a car is at the bottom of the mountain. Then you have to run to catch the S10 train that takes you up the mountain and drops you at a spot that is a 10-12 minute walk up the mountain from there. Also, please note that this place has a beautiful view, but it's a 10 minute trek up a mountain. It was also quite the confusing journey from the airport if you are not familiar with public transit. Also, my husband and I had to catch an early flight the next day, so we had to trek all of our luggage down the mountain early in the morning because their baggage service was not available that early. If you plan on visiting the city while staying at this hotel, know that you'll need to walk 10 minutes down the mountain to catch the bus to the nearest bus stop to get anywhere else. Again, it's probably fine if you're used to public transit, but being from Florida, we are not used to spending so much time getting from one place to another for something as little as a bottled water or food. Speaking of food, nobody in the restaurant speaks English. It was $9 for a bottle of water and we ended up going to the "street food" truck and pointing at a picture to get food. I, personally, would not recommend this hotel. If you want the views, just take the bus up there and stay a few hours.

No mention of a steep climb to reach the property and rude man at the reception.
Goof up with the rooms: We had booked 2 business rooms based on the pictures shown on the booking.com app. While one of the rooms was exactly the same, the other one was way smaller and had one less area (a separate sitting area was missing). When we raised it, the property said they were completely booked so nothing could be done. But that’s not a fair deal as we were not given the room we had paid for! In fact, we made our bookings well in advance so this should not have happened. The property didn’t even care to mention it during check-in, which makes me doubt their intentions (Another detail that was conveniently not mentioned). The next day, they did offer us the option to move to another room but that didn’t suit as it would involve packing and unpacking again for a 2-night stay. We didn’t want to waste time as we wanted to explore Zürich.
Incorrect mention of amenities:
They mention an elevator but it was not there in the building that was given to us. We had to climb upstairs with our heavy luggage.
They mentioned an electric kettle would be there in the rooms but we had to request for this as it wasn’t already there.
Very limited and expensive food options.
Otherwise, it’s a decent property but a lot of minus points due to my experience. This made me feel that they conveniently hid the details.

I was utterly disappointed by my stay at this hotel two weeks ago. The hotel did not tell us that the only train to go to Zurich was completely stopped from the morning.
We only heard about it once we arrived there. Which became a serious issue because we learnt that it would take 40 mins to get to Zurich instead of 20 mins by train.
We then asked for cancellation because it was too much trouble for us but it was refused... We were only able to cancel after spending almost two nights there and countless negociations with them.
On top of that, the staff kept making excuses, telling us that as long as we could commute to the hotel there was no problem and that it was not their fault.
Finally, the manager understood us and tried to solve this issue by compensating us but because of that inconvenience we could not seeing much of Zurich.
At the end we are still waiting for proper apologies from the director or the upper management team who does not seem to care much about their customers giving the way they treated us.

The Mount Uetliberg is a nature reserve and therefore car free. Normally every 30 minutes, the Uetliberg train brings you to the top of the most beautiful local mountain in Switzerland. From the final station, Uetliberg, you’ll arrive at the hotel after a pleasant seven-minute walk through the woods. On request, handicapped guests as well as the luggage of hotel and conference guests will be collected. Unfortunately we had some track works on which we did not have any influence. Please excuse any inconveniences because of that. We do our best to inform our guests about the directions wherever we can. For example in the booking confirmation, on our website and on every booking platform. Lovely location with stunning views but do arrange IN ADVANCE with the front desk to have a LUGGAGE VAN meet you at the train station. The hotel does not allow cars to drive up the hill so you must walk which is no issue unless you are carrying/pulling luggage. It's a 10 minute uphill walk (choice of stairs or flat ground). Beautiful hotel and nice rooms, very clean. The outdoor seating area around the tower and outdoor fire pit area could use some maintenance in terms of daily trash pickup and re-staining of wood furniture. Restaurant was delicious. You can also opt to eat at the Hillz restaurant at the bottom of the hill for something more casual if you are staying several nights. There is also a casual food truck type place when the weather is nice.

During booking you actually do not see clear information that you cannot arrive to the hotel with the car. You have to leave your car at non secured parking , take a bus or a train, then to walk uphill for 10 minutes. And all this with your luggage...... When i found out these details ir was the evening already, i had expensive bike with me and i could not leave it in the car , also i could not physically carry it with me on bus , train, and walking. So i should make another reservation in another hotel.
Hotel Oto Kulm ignored all my requests on partial refund . Absolute ignoring and arrogant hotel. Avoid !!! or at least read carefully the whole information !!! As they write it very unnoticeable and only in German language .

Regarding the access to the hotel, we would like to point out that the Uetliberg is a nature reserve and therefore car-free. From the Uetliberg final station, you can reach the hotel after a seven-minute walk through the woods. Upon request, handicapped guests and the luggage of hotel and conference guests can be collected at the final station. As Switzerland is a very safe country, you usually don't have to worry about the safety of your car. As long as the car is locked, you risk absolutely nothing. My wife went to have lunch. Her phone was low (5%). The restaurant said she could the phone at reception. The Insisted on the password and to have access to charge saying it’s necessary for charging. This is clearly not true. The waiter took an inordinate amount of time. She has to go to the kitchen to get him him after 25 minutes. Food, however was good. Very tasty.

This small hotel on the uetliberg is a great idea for a couples getaway. Service is friendly, the rooms are well sized, the food and wine was good, and the spa facilities are great. The train was not running, and so had to use the bus service, but this was rather smooth. Would definitely recommend!

The path is not too steep, you don't need to do any climbing. Parking is 5 minutes walk from train station. There is instruction for arrival on hotel web pages.
3 nights is long on Uto Kulm. Easiest way anyway to get there and to the airport is by train (check sbb ch):
- from hotel Uto Kulm walk down to the Uetliberg trainstation (roughly 10-15 mins walk, hotel has an electro mobile transport if you have luggage)
- board the train to zurich mainstation
- change train to zurich airport
Train journey with changing at mainstation (HB) takes roughly 40 minutes. Train is every 30 minutes.

The sauna costs extra, wi-fi, the great view and all the hiking trails are free.
