Hotel Adler Zürich garners acclaim for its inviting atmosphere that seamlessly blends historic charm with modern amenities, a detail that resonates with many guests. The well-furnished rooms are consistently celebrated for their comfort and cleanliness, with travelers often remarking on their spotless condition. While the staff's friendly and efficient service enhances the experience, the hotel's prime location near Old Town and accessible train routes also stands out as a highlight. Guests have called out the value offered, considering the convenient amenities and prime location, even as some suggest the in-house dining options are somewhat costly.

My favourite hotel in Zurich. In the heart of the old town and offering a Swiss "chuchi" experience. Yes, it's all wood panels and cuckoo clocks but somehow it is fun rather than twee. Rooms are comfortable, wifi reliable, breakfast is inventively "continental" and there is an unlimited soft drink supply in the cellar lounge. The restaurant is excellent (if a little pricey) but you MUST book in advance to be sure of a place (inside or outside). Ten minutes to the station, ten to the lake in the other direction, and surrounded by the atmosphere of the Nierdorf. Stop reading this and go!

Dear VisitingProfessor53, Thank you for your delightful review and for choosing Hotel Adler as your favorite place to stay in Zurich. We're thrilled to have had the pleasure of welcoming you and to know that our location in the heart of the Old Town added to your enjoyment. Indeed, being surrounded by the vibrant ambiance of the historic Niederdorf is a true advantage for exploring Zurich. We're glad you visited our Swiss Chuchi restaurant. Its traditional décor aims to provide a genuine Swiss atmosphere while keeping it fun and welcoming. We hope you enjoyed some of the typical Swiss dishes, such as fondue and raclette. It's also great to hear that you found your room comfortable and appreciated the reliability of our WiFi. We strive to offer breakfast that offers a selection of local products and ensures that our guests have a great start to the day. We hope to welcome you back many times in the future. We stayed in late June in a Family Room with 2 adults and our 17 and 20 year-old kids. The location was excellent, an easy walking distance from the main Zurich train station (though the cobblestones makes rolling your bags a little noisy and bumpy). The hotel is very nicely and tastefully designed and decorated and felt very warm and welcoming and also very clean. Our room was spacious and the beds were all very comfortable. The windows opened onto a courtyard behind the hotel, but when closed, we didn't hear much noise at all and overall it was quiet and we slept well. I am not sure if it was because the soccer playoffs were going on, but there was a small communal room near reception where they had a large tv with the games on and we were offered free water bottles, beer, and prosecco. The hotel is in the charming old town area, and it was very nice to walk around the immediate neighborhood with lots of shops, restaurants, bars, and the river. Breakfast is in the charming wood-paneled restaurant and was very good. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. We only booked 1 night on our way to the Bernina Express train, but it was such a nice experience we wanted to stay longer.

Great hotel and staff at Hotel Adler! I'm not just saying that because they gave me a free Toblerone and check in, either! The staff were always smiling(front desk and restaurant) and willing to help. They even set up a shuttle for us to the aiport, which saved us a lot of time and trouble with the trains and our luggage. It is a very easy walk to and from the train station, too. I had taken a day trip by myself and didn't feel unsafe walking to and from the station. The hotel is within walking distance of all the main attractions and across the river are grocery stores, if you're trying to eat on a budget.
I had a single room and while small, everything was perfectly placed. The bed was comfortable(not too firm) and the bathroom was easy to maneuver. I really enjoyed the decor; it really gave a nice Swiss feel. My room was quiet, but my friends experienced some typical street noise in their room from the tapas bar outside. There is construction going on, but none of us heard that. Only semi downside is there is no fridge in the rooms, but the hotel does provide cold water and sodas in a large cooler downstairs, which more than made up for it. Breakfast was delicious, too, and definitely a plus to be able to grab some meats and cheeses before heading out. This is my go to hotel next time I have the pleasure of visiting Zurich!

The best thing about this hotel is the location. The breakfast was okay. We appreciated the bottled water in the room although we were not aware it was free. The room was small for the price. We expected a mini fridge but they must be in upgraded rooms. We did not eat in the restaurant, although you receive a discount and it was very popular.

Dear Citytour2011, Thank you for staying with us and taking the time to write a review. We are glad you could benefit from our central location, right in the middle of the Niederdorf in the Old Town. At our hotel, we offer a variety of rooms, suitable for each type of traveler, whether you are traveling alone, as a couple, or as a family. Our Junior Suite, for example, is 32 m² and offers a lot of space and a seating area. We don't have minibars in the rooms, but we have a lounge with complimentary soft drinks. We regret you were not informed about it when you were here. As for the restaurant, it is indeed very popular and highly recommended if you would like to try traditional Swiss cuisine. We hope you will stay with us again when you return to Zurich. Kind regards, Tessy, Resident Manager Hotel Adler Zurich

Passing through Zurich on the way to the ski fields, the Hotel Adler was a great choice for an introduction to Switzerland. The location in the Old City had easy walking access to the main train station, even while pulling suitcases, and made a perfect base for exploring the charming district. The included breakfast was excellent and the staff went out of their way to get my birthday off to a special start. We loved how the hotel decor features unique wall murals illustrating local streets and buildings in all the guest rooms. There is even an accompanying book providing historical insight into the locales depicted. For your dining experience, there are innumerable charming restaurants within easy walking distance or a short trolley ride away.

My daughter and I spent 9 nights at the Hotel Adler the beginning of November. The breakfast was included in our reservation.
We cannot imagine staying anywhere else in Zurich.
The location in the OldTown is where the best restaurants, bars and shops are located that are moderately priced. It is walkable to the train and bus stations if taking day trips as we did to the Alps, Lucerne, Bern and Appenzell Town.
The Hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff friendly and helpful especially Gil and Romana and the breakfast crew. Excellent breakfast buffet. Our room overlooked a square in the back and was quiet.
We highly recommend the Adler.

I chose Hotel Adler based on price (Zurich is very expensive), reviews and location to the Zurich Hbf. I booked a standard single room with double bed for 2 nights with breakfast included and I booked directly with the hotel. I got a 10% discount voucher for the hotel restaurant and a big Toblerone for booking direct :) The hotel was a straightforward, flat 10min walk from the Zurich Hbf. The hotel promotes online registration in advance, which I did not do. On arrival basically had to do the same process on a small screen, so may be best to at least try the online registration in advance. My room was quite small, not really a double bed, just a larger single pushed up against the wall. The room had an opening window with a view out to the side street. The room included a fridge (with 2 water and a coke that were free), tea/coffee making facilities (though no real milk) and TV with a lot of English language channels. The bathroom was a decent size with shower only - beware the water, cold is really cold and hot is really hot. I was on level 3 and there were both stairs and a small lift. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet and had full black out curtains and sun blinds. The hotel is pet friendly, so do expect to encounter dogs in the hotel. There is a small residents' lounge on level 1 and a cute little seating space for coffee or a chat. Breakfast was served in the ground floor restaurant. It was fine, very European, with the emphasis on breads, pastries, cold cuts (including smoked salmon), yoghurt and cereals. There were some curious little pots of scrambled eggs and boiled eggs available. Overall, this was a pleasant stay at a reasonable price for Zurich. The location was great, with easy walking access to a lot of eating establishments and to the river, city and lake. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is located in oldtown Zurich and not far from the main train station in the city of Zurich (Zurich HB). From the main station you can walk or take the tram for only 2 stations.
The check-in process was quite fast, the officers were quite friendly and helpful.
The room is small but still OK and very clean. The bathroom is clean and the water runs smoothly.
We didn't choose breakfast at the hotel. But this hotel has a restaurant that is quite popular, especially for cheese fondue, so we made a reservation for dinner.
Prices are quite expensive, but in Switzerland everything is expensive. We got a relatively lower price compared to other hotels in the same class at that time. So quite good value for money.
Can be used as a hotel choice when in Zurich.

The rooms are charming and have individually painted murals depicting scenes from the Old Town. The restaurant is excellent, but you do need to book even if you are resident as it is so popular. Best breakfast coffee of our tour of France and Switzerland.
Guests are greeted in a very friendly way and that attitude is consistent throughout the stay.
The lift is efficient, quiet and fast. The hotel is right in the heart of the Old Town, with excellent access to trams, the river/lake, station, sights, cafes, and bars. Street is fairly steep but would be no problem for pulling suitcases with wheels. No parking nearby, but taxis are available.
I had a personal issue that upset me and the staff, especially Maya, were so kind and considerate and moved me to a different room, without fuss.

Dear Vivien G, Thank you for sharing your detailed review with us. We are delighted to hear that you appreciated our central location in the heart of Zurich's Old Town, making it convenient to explore the city's many attractions, cafés, and bars. This part of the city is car-free, but it's possible to drive to the hotel and unload the luggage. A public parking house is within walking distance. Your kind words about our charming rooms, complete with unique murals depicting scenes from Old Town Zurich by Heinz Blum, are greatly appreciated. It's also wonderful to hear you enjoyed dining in our restaurant, one of the oldest and most famous traditional Swiss establishments in Zurich, renowned for our fondue and raclette. We are especially touched by your comments about our team. We strive to provide exceptional hospitality to all our guests, and it is rewarding to know that our efforts made a positive difference during your stay. This wonderful, quaint hotel is located in the heart of Old Towne Zürich. I arrived from Munich via train and the hotel is only a 15 minute walk from the station. My room was at the end of the hallway and very quiet. I was upgraded to a larger room and it had all the amenities and space this solo traveler needed. For US travelers, they even had wash cloths which isn’t always the case in Europe. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The location made it easy to explore Old Towne and a short walk to popular shopping areas. Also, I took a couple day trips and walking to the meeting point was easy. The city was doing infrastructure work while I visited and the hotel emailed me ahead of time to advise of this slight inconvenience; giving me the opportunity to book elsewhere. Glad I decided to stay put. Be advised the hotel is on cobbles (which is quite lovely) and dragging my suitcase wasn’t the easiest. Luckily, I only had a carry-on. Make sure to reserve a table at the Swiss Chuchi (located in the hotel). There are also many other food options nearby. Book this hotel for your Zurich visit!

Yes, the breakfast buffet is very good. It actually is offered in the ground floor restaurant. There is a good choice of foods as is typical in Switzerland. Staff will get coffee for you since the coffee machine is not self-serve.
