Hotel's Favourite
I stayed at the Alpine Rooms by Leoneck on 27-29 June 2022. The hotel is located about 400 meters from the train station. You can walk and it takes about 5-6 minutes. However it goes up hills, so if you don’t mind that, you can also take the Tram No. 6, 7 or 10 (this one is the best). The Alpine is their ‘self-check in hotel’ section. Make sure you have enough batteries. It’s very easy to check in with your phone which acts as the key. When you check out, just do that with your phone. Rooms a very clean and modern, excellent value proposition. I can also recommend their restaurant, great Swiss food for great price!

Dear fetscherin, Thank you for taking the time to leave this review for us. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay here at Alpine Rooms by Leoneck. Indeed, our hotel is ideally located just a 6-minute walk from Zurich's central station. The road to us leads slightly uphill from the main station; however, guests can easily reach us with tram lines 6 and 10. The Haldenegg stop is right in front of our entrance. We are glad that you admired our ideal address. We are glad you appreciated our completely digital hotel service, offering self-check-in. Our guests check in and out with their smartphones using a digital key activated on the day of arrival. Guests appreciate this hassle-free alternative, and we are delighted you did. It is also wonderful that you found our rooms offered comfort and convenience at attractive rates. Our housekeeping team strives to present beautiful and cozy spaces for our guests, so it was a pleasure to prepare your room for you. We hope you will come back to see us again when you are next in Zurich. It will be a pleasure to host you once again. Kind regards, Claudia & Cedric, your hosts Alpine Rooms by Leoneck

The hotel was very good, nice rooms (we also had a balcony), very clean, quiet and very comfortable. The location couldn't be better very close to the main train station and just in front of a tram stop, which takes you to the airport and all around the city.
The breakfast was very good, a good variety of products, cheese, cold meat, warm food, cereals, and coffee, worthy to pay extra as food in Zurich can be expensive.

Dear jandres01, Thanks a lot for your detailed review. We appreciate you taking the time and posting it on TripAdvisor. It's great to know you had a good stay at our hotel and were content with the room and breakfast so much. At the breakfast buffet that is served in our restaurant Gaststube Haldenegg, we offer a big selection of seasonal and regional products. For example, the cheese we source from dairy Splügen in the canton of Graubünden. We hope you'll choose us again when you come back to Zurich. As you say, we are perfectly located in the center of the city and have easy access to public transport. Kind regards, Cedric Nake, Hotel Manager Leoneck Swiss Hotel

All of the above is true, the location is on the edge of Old town which is great for walking. you can catch the trolly across the street and go direct to the airport in 29 minutes for 3.80 on the app. the restaurant has great friendly staff and good schnitzel. They do not offer an american style Martini ;-(. not a biggie.
the room I had was small, but then it was on points from Hotels .com so expectations where not high and they did not disappoint. The staff at check in was fantastic.
the BUT, is just the cleanliness and design of the tub/shower. first the design is flawed, too skinny. second the grout had mold. see pictures. that is preventable and should not be allowed. hence the 4 vs 5. there was too much good to knock them down more that one.

I booked the suite with terrace for approx £200/night. Decent temperature, comfortable bed, some nice touches overall, but for the price, it was really missing some core things to make it worth this price. I guess you're just paying for location. The wifi was very poor and needs improving. You cannot access wifi from certain "dead spots" at random locations within the room and definitely not from the Terrace. The kettle was missing so you couldn't make tea. There is a coffee machine but it puts bits into the water (which is fine in your coffee but not your tea). The toiletries absolutely stripped your skin, making it extremely dry. There were some renovation works taking place without prior notification (a paper notice went up on the day, after some guy was creeping around outside my room, waking me up).
Having said all that, I would book this place again, just for location alone and excellent benefit of not having to deal with staff at reception - you use a code to access the building and then use a tablet to check in. You can have a key card if you want, but otherwise as long as you can connect to the hotel wifi then you can use your phone to open all the doors.

Dear Email A, Thank you for taking the time to offer this comprehensive feedback to us. We are glad you found our bedding comfortable and appreciated our contemporary styling. Our team is proud to present beautiful and comfortable spaces for our guests. We are also pleased that you enjoyed our ideal location, just a 6-minute walk from Zurich's central station. We are disappointed that you did not enjoy some elements of your stay. Usually, our guests find that our Wi-Fi provides a stable and fast connection. We are sorry that you experienced problems with the Wi-Fi connection and will have it checked by our maintenance team. We also regret that you could not fully enjoy our complimentary tea and coffee. Our guests generally appreciate the convenience of our in-room Nespresso coffee maker. These machines can also heat water for your tea. However, we have taken your feedback on board. In an effort to ensure our hotel continues to meet the needs of our guests, at times, we need to undertake work on the hotel. We are sorry for any disturbance this may have caused you. It is great to read you appreciated the self-check-in concept of our hotel. While we don't have staff on-site, the team at Walhalla Hotel is always ready to assist our guests in any way necessary. We look forward to your return to Zurich and feel confident that your next stay will be hassle-free. Kind regards, Claudia & Cedric, your hosts Alpine Rooms by Leoneck

This is a great hotel central to Zurich. Old town Zurich and the Central train station are all reached by foot. Rooms are comfortable and we enjoyed swapping the rooms being serviced for vouchers to use at the restaurant. Easy access to the airport via Tram 10 which comes past the hotel.

Dear NickP4138, Thanks for the great review. As you say, the Leoneck Swiss Hotel is ideally situated, with the tram (number 10) from the airport stopping outside the hotel. We are also close to Zurich's main train station. The main shopping area, Bahnhofstrasse, the Old Town, as well as the ETH Zurich University, which is also within easy reach. We are pleased you made use of our "Green Choice", which offers a voucher worth CHF 10 (redeemable at Gaststube Haldenegg) if you stay an extra night and forgo the full cleaning service for the second day. Details are available from reception. We look forward to seeing you back when you are next in Zurich. Kind regards, Cedric Nake, Hotel Manager Leoneck Swiss Hotel

I booked a Comfort Double room with included breakfast for a one-night stay while traveling. I arrived by train before flying out from the Zürich airport the next morning. This hotel is very easy to reach by tram from the Zürich Hauptbahnhof, and is within a few minutes walking distance if you don't have heavy luggage. The hotel is uphill from the train station. The Haldenegg tram stop is directly in front of the hotel. The staff were friendly, and the room was clean and pleasant. Everything in the room worked properly. This is a convenient place to stay while traveling, and the value was very good for the area.

The staff at this hotel must have thought Fawlty Towers was a training video.
We arrived after a 30 hour flight from Australia and a day wandering around Zurich waiting for 3pm check in. We had prepaid for 8 nights.
When we pressed the buzzer we were greeted with "why haven't you checked in online?" The obvious answer was because we had no access to internet.
Reluctantly, we were let in and we checked in via the tablet. When I had trouble scanning my passport, I phoned the help line and was told I should have stayed at a hotel with a reception. I then went through the process to get a key card but there were no keycards available because no one had topped up the supply of cards.
Not the way to greet guests who have paid up front to stay at your "hotel"
This is an establishment where guests are treated as an inconvenience.
The terrace was full of weeds and the umbrella and chairs were broken. The fridge was not fit for purpose and took 2 days to chill drinks. There was no iron for guests to use, instead guests are advised that they have to use the drycleaner at the railway station.

Dear donaxrd, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent stay at our hotel. We are a self-check-in hotel, allowing our guests to gain access to their room, and leave at the end of their stay, all from their smartphone, in just four easy steps. The team from Fred Hotel Hauptbahnhof are available for inquiries and to help where they can, however, if our guests require more assistance, staying in a hotel with a reception may be better suited to them. We appreciate your feedback regarding the terrace and chairs, as well as the fridge. Likewise, we are sorry to hear that there was a shortage of key cards during your stay. We have taken your valuable feedback on board to improve your experience and the experience of other guests in the future. Thank you once again for taking the time to provide us with your comments. We hope that you will allow us to welcome you back if your travels bring you to Zurich again. Kind regards, Claudia & Cedric, your hosts Fred Hotels Zürich

Very well located hotel, very good room, good beds. We had some treats on arrival, such as a welcome cocktail and a mini toblerone bar in the room. Very close to the central train station, but the terrain relief (steep climbs and long stairs) is complicated, especially for people with walking difficulties or with elderly people. Breakfast I dia not use the service, since the price a little high: 20 CHF per person.

Dear Bruno A, Thank you. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay at the Leoneck Swiss Hotel. We try to make sure our guests are well received and that you feel relaxed and at home. The walk from the train station is, as you mention, quite steep. We would recommend taking the tram — numbers 6, 7, or 10 — which will drop you in front of the hotel. We're sorry you missed out on the breakfast, it's a delicious spread with a wide selection of local products on offer. We hope to see you again soon. Kind regards, Cedric Nake, Hotel Manager Leoneck Swiss Hotel

I travelled to Zurich recently for a conference at the nearby University hospital. The hotel was very easy to get to from the airport, and was very convenient to the main Zurich HB train station as well. The facility was nice and i enjoyed the breakfast there. Very happy with everything.

Dear Will G, Thank you for staying at the Leoneck Swiss Hotel while you were in Zurich. As you mention, we are very conveniently located, and within walking distance of the ETH University and hospital. The main train station is also nearby, or you can take a tram directly to the hotel (number 6, 7, or 10). We are pleased you enjoyed the buffet breakfast in our restaurant Gaststube Haldenegg, which serves fine coffee, a selection of Swiss cheese and meat cuts, fresh-baked bread and croissants, and lots more. We look forward to seeing you again when you are next in the city. Kind regards, Cedric Nake, Hotel Manager Leoneck Swiss Hotel

The hotel staff was excellent and the location is right opposite to Haldenegg station. Front office is very helpful and rooms has been maintained well.. However, the only complain is rooms are very small inspite of booking a classic double room..Front office can improve on their listening skills.

Dear sudz83, Thank you for your review. We appreciate your positive feedback about our front-desk staff who is working very hard to meet our guests' expectations. We are glad you could benefit from the hotel's location and enjoyed your room overall. Our Classic rooms are of standard size but we do have more spacious rooms in the Comfort category. Perhaps, you may consider one of them on your return. We hope you'll choose us again when booking your next trip to Zurich. Until then, we wish you all the best. The stop which I cannot remember the name is right outside the hotel and you cannot miss it. From the airport it takes about 50 minutes
Hope this helps
There is a lift.
They have 2 lifts, one however is small and is only for a couple of people with no luggage (I was told that people had been stuck that tried to bring their luggage in that elevator.
They do have a large lift that can accommodate your needs.
