This was a very special trip, made even more so by the team at Hotel Helvetia. Their attention to detail, efficiency and willingness to help made our trip so easy and enjoyable, we cannot wait to come back for another visit.
The bed and pillows were warm and cozy, but we were able to adjust our room temperature so it was not too hot at night, which is common in hotel rooms. We felt so comfortable and had great sleeps every night.
The bar and restaurant were gorgeous, so beautiful in fact that we found it difficult to go anywhere else for dinner. Lovely wine and beer, followed by very high quality meals. I think we worked our way through the whole menu, but we were so full, we could never make it to dessert! I wish I had time to try the plum dessert, and I think that's a good enough reason to come back and visit.
The staff gave us a great recommendation of a cozy restaurant where we had a late lunch of cheese fondue. It was a small wooden, cozy, welcoming place to eat and enjoy a delicious meal. Again, great wine and also dessert. The chocolate mousse was so light and served with a generous amount of double cream. Only a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The restaurant name is Fribourger Fondüe Stübli. Well worth a visit. Not a fancy place, but a cosy, warm, welcoming place. We loved it. Suited us perfectly and we are grateful for the recommendation.
The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of the city, a short walk to the main train station, light rail and all public transport. It was so easy to get around and everything runs on time. It was a short walk to main shopping areas also.
When we came back after a day of exploring, it was nice to wind down with a cup of tea in the library or drawing room balconies, where you can watch the world go by and the ducks on the river. So relaxing.
We cannot recommend Hotel Helvetia enough. We felt so welcome and like it was a second home. We look forward to visiting again.

Great location, great food, great drinks and above all great service. The lady who served me breakfast was so nice and professional. I was there on 2 Feb, but unfortunately I did not get her name. I love the deco too! The idea of drawing room n library is very clever. Thank you very much.

We got a great apartment 52, it is the most expensive for the space worth it; great view and lots of space for family with kitchen. Staff is great. We stayed 3 nights and it was 10 mins walks to Main Train station and everything you want to see. I love their balcony and library room and selection of complimentary tea and coffee and even toiletry in refill bottles were high quality.

Exceptionally friendly staff, clean room, comfortable bed, pleasant smell everywhere. The windows are double-glazed, so we slept excellently even in the room facing the street on the first floor. Would recommend the hotel at any time. Thank you for the pleasant stay!

The location of this hotel made walking to all things in the old town area very easy as well as walking to the central train station. The hotel room was very quiet even on a corner of two fairly busy streets. Zurich as a city seems more quiet and calm than other cities. The airconditioning unit worked beautifully and it's low hum likely cut out the outside noise too. The staff were helpful and pleasant. Our adapter did not fit into the wall sockets - no worries, the front desk had an adapter unit that they loaned to us, problem solved. There is a library room with attached terrace that was lovely to use including a coffee machine and tea bags gratis. We did not partake of the breakfast, there are coffee shops nearby and the Coop To Go was my favorite place to pick up fresh croissants and a coffee. Just remember, everything in Switzerland costs twice what it does in the US. Just be ready for that!!!! All in all, we were very happy with our stay and will recommend and hopefully return to this hotel another time.

Very friendly, personal welcome, very good food and top service in the restaurant. Room & bathroom were clean and in very good condition. Like new. The soaps, lotions and even the hand sanitizer gel at the reception smell sooooo good:)

The cheapest room is small but very well designed, with a very comfortable bed and a practical bathroom. The cosmetic products are quality. The “river” view with the small balcony was a pleasant addition. The reception staff are very friendly and helpful. The pool bar/without pool: a fun and exotic concept in the center of Zürich! Good house cocktails, not too sweet, well balanced, even if the prices are a little high (like everything in this city). The disappointment comes from the kitchen: the restaurant is again pretty, and eating on the terrace overlooking the Sihl is very pleasant. The dishes were on the other hand very average: the Wienerschnitzel and its potato salad very bland and ordinary, despite a price that was once again high, and the service was unfortunately quite average. I can still recommend this place and I was happy with my stay because the "vibe" of the place is really nice and everything can be reached on foot from the hotel: the banks of the Limmat or the industrial district of Viadukt…

Breakfast is prepared individually, even coffee is served. However, you have to ask for anything extra (such as raw vegetables). This is a bit inconvenient and could be difficult in busy times.
It was easy to set up a third bed when more family members came than initially registered. No extra charge for a second person in the room (apart from the tourist tax) - everything is taken care of immediately - simply fantastic.
There is a 25% discount on the city car park.
There is an attached gym (I didn't go there).
The house is centrally located. If necessary, you can walk to the train station. The connection to the S-Bahn is optimal and right on the doorstep.
Dinner is highly recommended. Great menu, super service, attractive ambience.

The team at reception and bar are great: super friendly and personable, courteous and really helpful. The reception was very pleasant: they manage to make you feel welcome (even if you're only staying one night). The simple hotel is an old building in the middle of the city. The tram is right outside the door, good restaurants and more are within walking distance. The restaurant in the hotel is also said to be very good - we didn't try it ourselves, but it looked very nice.
Less nice (hence two stars deducted because it did affect the stay): no air conditioning in the room, apart from an ancient mobile device that made a hell of a noise. You had to turn it off to sleep, which meant that the room was about 29 degrees in no time. (During the day it was 36 degrees outside). The window was open during the day so that the air conditioning hose could hang out. The trams/streetcars started running at 4:30. The windows are not well insulated, so from then on, sleep was over.
Plus point: the beds are very comfortable. Second plus point: we rented the small library as a meeting room for a business meeting. That worked well: there was a screen and water and coffee too. Nice service.
We will choose a different hotel next time (despite the great service team) and make sure that it is not located directly next to three tram tracks.

A holiday in Zurich is a treat, so I thought of staying in a nice hotel. Was it sheer luck or good judgement, I am glad to have chosen Helvetia.
Not too far from the hustle and bustle of Zurich town, but far enough to give you some peaceful nights. The hotel is about 10 minutes on foot (luggage / stroller friendly path) from the Europaallee exit of Zurich HB, or less than 100m from the Zurich Selnau station on the SZU line, one stop from Zurich HB. The hotel is also accessible to the Stauffacher and Sihlstrasse tram stop, if you would like to explore other parts of Zurich.
The hotel has a good modern vibe in an old Zurich building, so be prepared to lift your luggage over some steps or to wait for that one old lift in the hotel. We booked the Attic Junior Suite (2 in the hotel) on the 5th floor, which was fun because my children had never experienced how an attic looked like, much less staying in one. The room was spacious, my children could run from one end to the other (hope the guest downstairs weren't disturbed :X) The Hastens bed was really comfortable, and with the windows open you could hear the river flowing and the rumbling of the trams outside (some may like, some may not). The kichenette with the induction hob was handy, and the cupboard below was well-stocked with pans and pots (too cramped in fact!) A Coop supermarket is just across the road, btw. If you insist on boiling water although bottled ones are provided, you can borrow a kettle from the front desk (friendly staff I met :))
Now on the point to note... the kids slept on the sofa bed which was right outside the bathroom, so every time someone went to the bathroom in the middle of the night or early in the morning, the light would shine onto the sofa bed. And not sure if it has something to do with an old building, the hot water in the shower seemed to be irregular. Good luck during winter :X. Being one floor below the rooftop, the room door was right next to the staircase to the rooftop. There was a rooftop event during our stay and you could hear footsteps and creaking staircase into the night. And trolleys of pizza and skewers parked outside our room door. No big deal, as long as no drunk guests come knocking on our door :D
The stay really added memories to our time in Zurich!

Take the train to Zurich HB from the airport (about £8) and then S10 or S4 from the HB to Selnau (1 stop). You can buy the S ticket on the platform (a short journey is just over £2). Or you can walk. It’ll take about 20 mins.
There are more places to choose from in the Zurich area.
