Detailed Reviews
What a great experience to stay in Placid Hotel!!! The design is insane, the rooms very spacious with many large closets, so you can put everything in and dont have a messy room and the rooms are sound proof! The staff was so friendly yet professional with all the answers you need. The great about it was because it's not very close to the city centre they had all these free services that get you fast to the city centre so we didn't mind the distance (and we were with a 2-year old baby). Free parking, free bikes and free scooters, so the city centre was only 15 minutes away with no sweat at all!!! I had one of the best experiences to that hotel, it was a very pleasant stay, I would strongly recommend it!!!!!

The Placid hotel is impeccable and modern. Nice staff. We loved the design of our apartment, with the touch of the concrete grain and texture mixed to wood. The self-opening automatic window system is amazing. Such big windows over the city when you are in a high floor.
We had a nice space to ourselves comprised of two parts: a mini dining area next to the bedroom, and a mini living-room. Both parts can be separated by a bending wall on a rail, directly inserted inside the wall so as to be used only when you need it.
The mini dining area had lots of closets besides a Nespresso coffee machine and tea. The bathroom had nice hygiene product samples.
The breakfast was generous with lots of choices, including homemade blueberry muffins, different types of crackers, fresh fruits, yoghurt, muesli with fruits, cereals, yet another Nespresso coffee machine with different possible flavors available, juices, etc.
They also have a fitness room with a nice view over the city, we spectated the sunset from there. The parking is free and camera monitored 24H/7, underground with an automatic door system, very handy and safe.
We highly recommend and wish to pay the Placid hotel another visit soon.

The Hotel Placid is a great option for a weekend in Zurich. The free underground parking is the first plus we experienced and it set the tone for the rest of our stay. The location is mixed residential and commercial, but the hotel is close to a tram line and bus stop that get you into the centre within 15 minutes. The food was very good in the restaurant for dinner and the breakfast buffet was adequate, but could be improved with some croissants, better offerings for jams and spreads, and perhaps some hot meats. The room offered great views and was very comfortable, we had the lifestyle loft and it was perfect.

The hotel is located in a non central area, 5 min away from the tramway which will take you to the centre in 10 min. They also provide bikes (free of charge) and free parking. The restaurant is also really nice, and food is good.
My major problem with the hotel was that the rooms had no Air Conditioning, which is something that I take for granted in a 4 star hotel. So, if you happen to be in a warm summer day, sleeping becomes uncomfortable, and to add more insult to the injury, if it rains during the night, the window automatically close.
I know what some people may say, that is never that warm in Zurich, but with climate change and good thermal insulation, that may not longer be the case. And I am not sure anyone would tolerate to stay a night in 4 star hotel in Madrid with no heating when outside is -2 degrees celsius, under the excuse that it is only cold a few days a year.

Dear monchor185 Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed the free bikes and parking. And of course the great food in our restaurant. As the Placid Hotel is eco-friendly, we like most hotels in Zurich do not have air conditioning. We are doing our part in reducing the emissions. We do have an air cooling system that derives cool air from 200 metres underground. The room cooling system can be adjusted in the rooms next to the door. We do provide fans in the rooms also upon request. We do hope to to see you again real soon. Best regards

I chose this hotel mainly for its nice design and the reasonable pricing compared to other hotels.
The hotel staff are all very nice and friendly, from the receptionists to F&B team.
The boutique studio rooms are aesthetically nice with good design features but also have a few drawbacks. The beds are not comfortable (2 beds joined into 1) and the pillows were too light, although they sent me a slightly more firm one later which was appreciated. All boutique studios also come with an accessible bathroom (great idea!) but unfortunately the shower makes a mess after each use.
There is no manual lock inside rooms, which was odd. This is standard practice in hotels. The walls also seem to let in noise from neighbouring rooms and corridors.
Location is close to tram stops, I had no issues commuting to the city centre or HB with my luggage.

Let us speak about the good parts. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the Nespresso coffee machine a good touch.
But everything else was pretty strange. It had a modern open design. The bathroom had glass doors. It would be fine if it was a double room meant for couples but we booked a Suite for 3 adults (myself, husband & daughter). They did put a shower curtain once we asked but I am still perplexed as to why they would have an open bathroom for a room for 3. The hotel is almost in an industrial looking area. Also the curtains of the french windows didn’t close fully so we were always conscious. The wifi needed to be logged on regularly which again was an annoyance. The hotel is in an industrial looking area. Not bad neighbourhood or anything but just noting and the view from our top floor was pretty good.
If you are a couple travelling, I would recommend this hotel wholeheartedly. Quite reasonably priced for Zurich and not too far from tram. But I would suggest that if you have any others in room apart from a couple be aware & check with the hotel beforehand.

It was our pleasure to have you as guests and thank you for the positive feedback in regards to the hospitality, The architecture and design of the Placid Hotel Zurich is a unique. All our rooms have an open concept - even the bathrooms with its walkin showers. The design is an individual taste. For your next stay, we would suggest booking on of our Boutique rooms that offer more privacy and are cozier. Than kyou for recommending us and we do hope see you again in the near future. The hotel is superb and we were lucky enough to have it almost all to ourselves! The hotel was indeed almost empty during the coronavirus crisis and the staff was lovely despite a very small number of people. We received free parking, bicycles and breakfast as compensation, which is a very nice gesture.
We enjoyed it so much that we stayed one night longer than originally planned. The room is very comfortable and the view of Zürich is splendid. The city center and the lively districts of Zürich can be reached in about ten minutes by bike. Thank you very much!

Very good and clean facilities. The hotel is around 20 minutes by tram from the main station and only a 2 minutes walk from the Kappeli tram stop. I loved the furniture which was a refreshing change from the dated furniture from other hotels. We stayed in a family loft room on the top floor with a main bed and an extra single bed. The views from the full frame windows was very nice. the bed and the extra bed was very very comfortable. the breakfast was not very extensive but good selection and made a great start to the day. there is a Co-op express store 1 minute away to get some extra water for the room as we got only three bottles. overall we really enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

The Placid Hotel is perhaps the most unique hotel I have ever stayed in. The room is modern, with concrete floors, exterior walls, and wood appointments throughout. The bed was comfortable. The room size was adequate, but perhaps a little small compared to U.S. hotels. I LOVED, the floor to ceiling windows, and the television received broadcasts from Swiss, German, Spanish, and British stations.
I don’t think I am as eco friendly in reality as the hotel. The AC needed to respond faster to cool the room adequately. The hallway lights were on sensors, so the hallways were dark until you walked past the sensors. Personally, I am willing to spend the electricity!
The hotel is only a few minutes from the metro trains. Very convenient!
Overall, a pleasant stay.

Dear danoM7131DM Thank you for your thoughtful review and for highlighting the unique aspects of your stay at the Placid Hotel. We’re thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the modern design, comfortable bed, and the floor-to-ceiling windows in your room. It’s also great to know that the variety of television channels added to your positive experience. We appreciate your feedback regarding the air conditioning and the hallway lighting. We understand the importance of both comfort and convenience, and your comments will help us find a better balance between our eco-friendly initiatives and guest comfort. Our decision to not have an AC is part of our commitment to sustainability. However, we understand the importance of guest comfort. We’re pleased that you found our location convenient, especially in relation to the metro trains. Your overall satisfaction is important to us, and we’re grateful for your constructive feedback. Thank you once again for staying with us. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Your Placid-Team

We traveled with another couple and booked two rooms at the Placid. A few months before travelling we talked with the Placid about delaying our arrival date by one night. We called the hotel and the person we talked to confirmed the date change with us. We have confirmation of the Placid's receipt of the date change in writing and confirmation of staying at the hotel for three nights. We have sent the Placid copies of all the documentation in writing multiple times, but they continue to charge us a "no-show" for the original first night that we changed and that they confirmed. We have disputed this with American Express and repeatedly shown documentation that the Placid confirmed we would delay our arrival by one night and they had changed our reservation - but, yet, they won't remove our "no-show" charge. Poor accounting, plus a hotel with no air conditioning and windows that don't stay open = no repeat business from us. Buyer beware.

Dear 527mbjohnson The fact that you forgot to cancel your reservation is not the hotel's fault. You may well know that hotels are not allowed to cancel reservations in Expedia directly. Upon your departure on the earlier stay, you were informed to cancel your Expedia reservation. Since you failed to do so, this is not our fault. Have a great day.

Sorry I don’t know the cost of parking because we never had a car , we caught the tram or train everywhere which is cheap and you can have a 24 hour pass and you can get on any tram / or train depending on where you are going.
The rates for the offical Airport shuttle "CHECK-IN Allways" to and from the hotel are as follows:
CHF 49.00 for 1 passenger
CHF 54.00 for 2 passengers / for both passengers together
Dear Germaine
Many thanks for your message. Yes, we do have a laundry service available for a surcharge.
Please let us know if you need any further assistance.
