Gorgeous hotel with the best views I have ever had in a hotel. We loved it. We had an Eiger view room and it was stunning, the bathroom and bedroom were perfect for everything we needed and the mountain water was gorgeous. Each evening we went swimming and used the saunas- also wonderful and so relaxing. Breakfast is amazing with superb bircher muesli and a great selection of cereals, breads, meats, cheeses, and cooked breakfast.
The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble, we managed to use the hotel sleds which my husband used for three days- we had a brilliant time sledding.
We would love to go back at any time of the year. Murren is very special, and the Eiger Hotel even more so.

With the gorgeous view on the Swiss Alps out of our window, the beauty of the Swiss Summer Alps and delicious food, we stayed for a few days in the hotel. The hotel room was wonderfully decorated and the view was stunning from morning to evening. The area offers nice hiking trails also for families with children and once you are up on the mountain the terrace of the Almendhubel is welcoming you. After the hiking we enjoyed the pool and the sauna, and the relaxing area with a view on the mountains. On the hotel's wonderful terrace we enjoyed the Swiss Cheese Fondue watching the sun going down. The hotel personnel is very friendly and attentive. The hotel took great care in implementing the hygienic rules needed in these times - so we felt absolutely safe. An awesome family vacation.

This hotel is so extremely overpriced, I can't recommend ever staying here.

For 400 to 500 chf a night, you get basic motel level rooms, and limited facilities.

Also their booking listing says they have a hot tub, they do not.

The room and especially the bathroom is cold.

The Pool area is new and good quality but unlike most hotels in the alps, they have their temperature very cold, about 26 degrees. When it's minus ten out and you're at 2000 meters you want a 30+ pool, and a 35 degree outdoor hottub with mountain views.

The saunas have no views, yet they are clean but small and limited. Thankfully they are textile free.

No steam room, no herbal or aroma sauna, no ice bucket, no ice fountain.

The good things were the staff, everyone was lovely, especially Linda in the dining room, made us happy just being around her.

If the price was 150 to 250 a night I would rate it better (and only so high a budget since it's Switzerland), but at this price honestly I feel ripped off. And the staff, though friendly, didn't make any efforts to address our concerns about the false listing (booking shows rooms with wonderful mountain views and floor to ceiling glass doors by the bed, our room wasn't like that at all, and no hot tub).

Response from Adrian Stähli, General Manager at Eiger Murren Swiss Quality Hotel
Responded 3 Jan 2021
Dear guests - we thank you for your review and as already discussed we are extremely sorry that you did not found what you were looking for. That’s why we agreed that you could leave earlier without paying for the booked nights. You may understand our rates are higher on New Years eve - this is the most expensive night of the year. Other nights we have lower rates. We also want to mention that we have a herbal sauna, we are on 1650meter not on 2000meter and we do not say that we have an outdoor pool or a hot tub on our homepage ( we have a jacuzzi = bubbling pool) . Our pool has 32°C - which we happily proof. The recreation room has wonderful mountain view - maybe you did not see it? As you never came to see us at reception we could not find a solution for the room you did not like. We are sorry but hope you have a good 2021 and a healthy one. With best regards from the Hotel Eiger family and team

We arrived into Muerren on a Wednesday afternoon about 5pm. A porter from Hotel Eiger grabbed our bags, and we walked the two minutes to the hotel.

The owner greeted us and we settled into room 335 - a standard room with a Mountain View. What a view it is! We felt like we could touch the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau from our balcony. Our room was not huge, but not small either. Two adults with hiking clothes fit just fine. Bathrobes, towels and toiletries were in abundant supply. The room was squeaky clean; there was good pressure and hot water in the shower and the mini-fridge was cold.

The train station, which is very close to the hotel, is being renovated. The noise did not bother us as we are early risers. I would recommend a room higher up to get the best view away from the construction. We were on floor three and it was perfect.

Breakfast is served in the most beautiful, enormous room and mountain views from every angle. The breakfast is delicious, generous and does offer many healthy options. The staff was outstanding.

We were lucky to attend an owner's cocktail party on our second night in Muerren. Meeting the owners' family was such a treat as was the champagne!

We visited on shoulder season, so many smaller cafes and restaurants were closed. We ate at the hotel for dinner the second night and it was outstanding. We both had Thai soup, Indian curry, salad and delicious cocktails. The bar next to the dining room is lively and fun.

After a long hike, we swam in the pool, visited the "bubble" portion of the pool and went into the two different saunas. The facilities are well kept, very clean and have many towels available.

This hotel is a gem. The decor, the service, the location, the people, the food and the kindness showed by everyone there was magical. We highly recommend this hotel.

We recently travelled all over Europe staying in 8 different hotels in two weeks and we chose to splurge on the mountain view room at the Eiger - it was worth it! The view just sitting on our sofa of the mountains was breathtaking! We also ate dinner at the restaurant which was fabulous - lots of choices unlike some places that offer a prix fixe style. We chose this hotel from the James Bond movie and are so glad we stayed at the Eiger! Everyone was very nice and accomodating, including a porter to help with luggage to/from the train or cable car station. Murren is a lovely little town and makes for the perfect stay in the Alps.

This is a wonderful hotel. They upgraded 3 of us to a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom suite, which I highly recommend booking if there are more than 2 of you. Even without the upgrade, we would have loved this hotel. The views of the Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau from the balconies are magnificent , clouds permitting. But the clouds don’t seem to last all day. Back to the hotel: the owners and staff are incredibly friendly, accommodating, and organized. They go above and beyond to be helpful. The included breakfast is ample and delicious. We had two really excellent dinners there too. I couldn’t imagine a better place to stay in the Alps. We had five nights in Murren, which honestly didn’t feel long enough. It is a fabulous little village, with so much to do around it. And the Hotel Eiger is a fabulous hotel. Do stay there!

The Eiger epitomises the best of a family run hotel. I return each year and feel as though I am being welcomed by old friends. All the staff are attentive to detail and have pride in providing the best possible swiss service.
Incredible views of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau make for a wonderful breakfast experience. The smoothie maker was addictive but I avoided the sparkling wine at breakfast as it would have made my skiing somewhat haphazard.
Most liked: friendly staff and Spa.
Least liked: very difficult to criticise perfection but, perhaps, the evening meal could be a little more adventurous....

Hotel Eiger was possibly the best hotel I have ever stayed at and I have been to plenty!

We stayed at the hotel for a week in order to have our wedding nearby and the hotel was amazing. We could really have had the wedding at the hotel and if we were having more guests, the view out front of the hotel is perfect for a wedding!

I’ll start with the location. The hotel is based directly next to the station up from Lauterbrunnen. It would have been convenient on its own, but they arranged to move our bags from the train to the hotel and back down again afterwards. The hotel was clear that none of their staff expect tips too, as they are paid well. The room facing the mountain range out front had the most amazing view of these mountains both with and without snow and the view down into the valley as well. The balcony was very pleasant to absorb the surroundings and the bed was really comfortable, with any room facilities we could desire.

You can really tell the staff love working for the family run hotel with their passion and enthusiasm treating each other and us like family too. On our wedding day, they arranged to have us driven in their vehicle to the other side of town to the Grimmelwald gondola station covering it nicely with blankets and also arranged our dinner table full of flowers and beautiful candles. They watched us get ready to leave, messaged staff to come and see us and even gave us both hugs of joy and celebration in happiness of our wonderful day!

The food in their restaurant was incredible and it is hard to find a recommendation between the beef steak, stroganoff and veal, but I would have to say salmon tacos. We received a full salmon steak inside a taco and delicious fried rice with it. I also loved the red wine made from white wine grapes (maybe it was vice versa).

I don’t usually value the service of a hotel into my choice and focus on price, room quality and location, but Hotel Eiger had all of these and more! It wasn’t much more expensive than an AirBnB, but with the buffet breakfast included, it actually worked out a lot more of the cheaper option too.

I can’t recommend the hotel and its staff enough and thank you for helping us to have such an amazing Swiss experience for our wedding! We look forward to coming back in the summer next time and doing more hikes.

The Hotel Eiger is a special place, it's location alone would commend it. It faces the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau mountains and is a cable car ride away from Piz Gloria, a spectacular spot in it's own right. The staff is universally friendly and always helpful. The accommodation are spotless and clearly their efforts to be safe during Covid are serious and appreciated.
Murren is a little bit of heaven and the Eiger is the place to stay.

Parking is difficult. About four to five kilometers away from the cable car you might find parking, and take the bus after. Either way this hotel is terrible and overpriced! Do not stay here. The rooms are like cheap motel rooms for four hundred a night!
