Located in the middle of the village of Meiringen, a good starting point for public transport. The reception is very friendly and helpful. We were on the 3rd floor with a balcony facing the train station and a beautiful view of the mountains. The room is very nice and charmingly furnished and offers all the amenities after a strenuous day of hiking. Breakfast is manageable but of good quality. Recommended.

Friendly reception on arrival and very convenient location right at the train station. Good Italian restaurant downstairs too. Nice modern bathroom and comfortable beds. Noise from outside was a little loud with the windows open but it quieted down later. Would stay here again when visiting Meiringen.

This is a great place. Excellent spacious bedrooms, and a truly wonderful breakfast were included with the room. We also used the restaurant, which had superb dishes for a reasonable price. An excellent Swiss experience.

A well run, clean, comfortable hotel in a reasonable price range. Family owners were welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was average. Convenient location in town near shops and restaurants and just a few steps from the train station. Good hotel!

The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was fresh and plentiful. As I was leaving early on the last day, I was provided with a packed breakfast which was nice.
I was able to visit the Trift bridge, Gelmerbahn, Rheichenbach falls and Aare gorge in two days which are all worth making the effort to see.

We stayed at the Hotel Meiringen for 6 nights, mainly for my 8y old daughter to be able to attend Skiing classes at Bidmi, Hasliberg.
I initially only booked a double room for me and my daughter, but at the last minute my partner decided to drop us off in Meiringen and stay for one night. When we arrived at the hotel, the receptionist was very friendly and changed our room to a double room with a third pull-out bed, so that all three of us could stay there.
The room is not big, but big enough, with a small table/desk and a chair. Wardrobe space is sufficient. The bathroom has a shower (no bathtub which is ok for us). The room is pretty modern, probably renovated or 'refreshed' not too long ago. Bathroom looks a bit older, but absolutely ok.
The beds, resp. mattresses are too hard for my taste (but I'm used to a waterbed at home), and too short for me (I'm 193 cm). Therefore, sleeping here is not easy for me, but I guess I'm a bit of an exception (I often struggle with the beds in hotels), and my daughter sleeps like a baby here.
The service in the hotel is very friendly. On the first night I went down to the reception at around 11pm and asked for a glass of milk, and the guy walked to the kitchen and got it for me, did not even ask for my room number.
We had dinner at the hotel restaurant 3 times, and the food is good. We had salad, pizza and risotto, and all was fine and normally priced for Swiss standards.
For skiers, the skis can be stored in the basement of the hotel and they even have a special heating radiator where you can put your skiing boots so that they dry and are nice and warm in the morning.
From the hotel it's approx. 10-12 min walk to the gondola which will take you to Reuti, from which you take the cable up to Bidmi. Apparently there is also a ski bus which drives between the train station (behind the hotel) and the gondola station, but we did not use it, since the 10 min walk is totally doable, even with skiing boots.
All in all a nice and pleasant hotel and certainly a place we would return to, if we would visit the area again.

We spent one night as we hiked along the Via Alpina— coming from Engstlenap , and on our way to Schwarzwaldalp. The woman who checked us in (owner?) was just lovely, so warm and helpful. Immediately gave us some local tips about the town and our hike ahead. The room was clean and modern, with nice design touches like two mid-century leather chairs, a plant, and a tall rotating fan (which helped because it was HOT!!). She also offered free passes to a local gym, which my son used. We ate at the hotel restaurant- delicious wood fired pizza. There was a concert in the town square at night- very festive and fun to walk around. Just walking the streets as the sun set,
And getting the view of the surrounding mountains, was beautiful! Breakfast was delicious- great coffee (espresso/cappuccino machine was self serve), croissants and traditional meusli, cheese and meats. Loved this hotel- highly recommend!

The other five star reviews here say it all. A charming, friendly hotel, quiet, modest and nice. Perfect location a stone's throw from the station, from which you can whizz up and down the line, visiting Interlaken and other places of interest. Fifteen minutes walk through town to the funicular railway up to the gorgeous Reichenbach falls for Sherlock Holmes fans. Free meringues on the pillow were a nice touch, befitting the town's status as the birthplace of this delicacy!

the staff was very nice and welcoming
the room was very quiet, with a nice view, with a good bed and all aminitied needed
instead of breakfast, i got a breakfast pbag since I was leaving very early for the via alpina trek.
the staff arranged that the cleaning lady would give me a coffee (very good capucino) and hand out the "doggy bag with food" - it was an enormous quantity of cjheese.
all was organized late night when I arrived.
That was really very nice and thoughtful - great staff!
thank you very much.
I will come back :-)

A group of 8 friends stayed here as we began a week-long hiking adventure. We were very impressed by the helpfulness of the owners and the cleanliness of the quaint rooms. The location is very close to the train station and also close to day and overnight hikes. The town is quaint. The hotel restaurant was also very good.
