Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked a private room which was just perfect for our needs with on-suite bathroom and three beds. Free guest parking out front includes three electric car spaces and there is overflow parking just two minutes walk away (ask at reception). Breakfast was included but limited due to coronavirus. The facilities and atmosphere is great with access to a guest kitchen, table tennis, pool table, gardens and a few terrace areas with seating. The Villa is just on the green across from the main town area and restaurants.

For those who don't often stay at hostels, it's normal to be worried what your experience will be sharing a room with strangers. But from the moment you walk into this establishment, you are in great hands. You'll get excellent customer service and be located in an amazing property. The bathrooms/showers were so clean. The outdoor space gives you some isolation to admire the views or do some work. The kitchen area was my favorite - it's so spacious so I highly recommend stocking up on food from the local supermarket. The rooms were comfortable and the guests were respectful of my sleeping schedule. Overall, I couldn't ask for a better experience and for a great price. I paid 3 times more for a smaller room in Lauterbrunnen for what I paid here. I'll definitely be coming back to Backpackers Villa.

I had great memories of staying at Backpackers Villa Sonnenhof years ago with its communal areas and nice rooms for the price. I always wanted to stay here again given the chance, which I had at the end of August on my way from Zurich to Chamonix from the TMB. The only room available was a twin room with shared bath. The room was not as nice as the one I stayed in previously with private bath in the newer part of the building. Overall the room was comfortable. The staff was helpful and answered my questions about getting to Schilthorn, as I only had one night and flew into Zurich that morning from Vancouver, Canada. I really liked the Schilthorn and had gone upto Jungfrau the prior trip. This trip there was a couple large groups staying at the hostel that did not interact with each other. It is possible that the difference was on my first trip I stayed in April/May when maybe there are more independent travelers that interacted more. I would stay here again in room with private bathroom, but would book far ahead as I think this is probably one of the best values in Interlaken.

We stayed here 11th and 12th July. We were 4 persons and took a family room.
We can't wait to return there. Very warm hospitality. Reception staffs are extremely helpful. I got all the required information for travelling from there.

Best possible location. Only 3 bus stops away from Interlaken OST Railway station.

Rooms are good enough considering the situation that Switzerland is too too costly.

The swimming pool is 10 min away from the hotel. They provide good enough breakfast. You can cook for your dinner and lunch. They have all the provision.

Special mention: I am very much thankful specially to the young lady who was in the reception on 11th and 12th of July. My mother in law could not go to Jungfrau on 12th of July in the morning. She was alone in the hotel room. As the hotel does not provide lunch we requested the lady to arrange for her food from outside. She did it perfectly. Even when one food vendor denied to deliver lunch she searched a different vendor and arranged the food. We will always remember this.

Starting from an excellent location, this hostel has everything and more to offer. They certainly follow a value >>> money strategy.
The staff is super helpful at all times to answer your questions about everything related to the area: amenities, transport, and experiences.
My stay (of 9 days) was 50% for leisure and the other 50% for working remotely. And the working environment provided in the place is out of this world. From the breathtaking views of the co-working space to the conditions, attention to detail, and the care of the staff to keep this a calm and quiet place for focused work.
I can't recommend this place enough!

Sara at the reception gave us a wonderful welcome and the good feeling continued throughout the weekend. "Hostel" is underrating the place, it is really nice. Ping-pong tables are not in use during Covid-19 and breakfast is light, everything else is pretty much perfect, especially the amazing views...

Amazing staff. It's only 14 minutes walking from the Interlaken ost station and it's a very pleasant walk. The room is spacious, clean and with a breathtaking view. The bathroom was pretty clean too. Bed comfortable. They give you a free ticket for the public transportation in the city, to be honest I didn't used it, because ia amazing to walk in Interlaken. Breakfast is simple, but more than enough. I really loved my stay.
