Detailed Reviews
All the reviews good and bad are correct. Is this a gem of a place? Yes. Is it a pain to get there? Yes. Is it worth it? Yes. We spent 3 nights with our kids ages 12 and 9. We got a family room with cool bunk beds. Kids loved it! Our view was incredible. If you can afford a car service to bring you up then great! Do it. If you rent a car and drive up then great! Do it. In the summer it’s no problem and parking is free. We had 4 rolling bags and did not have a car. We took the gondola up. It wasn’t easy. Period. But once up and once down with the bags and we were fine. Without the bags it’s no big deal but you do have to be ok that the gondola stops running by a certain time and if you aren’t up at the hotel then you have to get a cab which is over $100! But once the gondolas stop, you have the place to yourself and it’s dreamy! Even my older kids loved having the playground to themselves! It is so peaceful! In the end we loved it. Water pressure is awesome but they do t provide many toiletries so bring your own or get them down in town at the COOP. Hotel staff is very friendly. This really is a gem. Just mentally prepare yourself that getting up and down with bags on the gondola isn’t easy (but it’s doable).

Very pleasant hotel away from the city and at the foot of the ski lift giving access to superb hikes, lakes and various activities.
A very warm welcome and impeccable rooms. Be careful though because the standard double rooms have a separate bathroom and toilet, but we were moved to another room without any problem.
The restaurant is excellent and the fondue is one of the tastiest compared to other restaurants and hotels.

The location of the Alpinhotel is magnificent and alone is worth the trip, In the evening, once the hordes of tourists leave, peace reigns supreme. The hotel is simple but well maintained. Impeccable cleanliness and courteous staff.
Please note, however, that not all rooms have a private bathroom directly communicating with the room. In some cases the bathroom (in any case private) is on the other side of the corridor.

The hotel is in an idyllic setting, with unparalleled views of the Alps! But the rooms have no bathroom inside the suite, an inconceivable situation for the cost of the night. The bathroom is outside and you have to wear robes to get there. We were touched by room 107, whose bathroom was 5 meters outside the corridor that connected to the rest of the rooms. This is not clarified on reservations!! On the other hand, I found it very dishonest that I was charged 5 Swiss francs as a guarantee for the opening card of the room. Supposedly, it was only a guarantee and would be refunded at the end of my stay, but it was NOT. I never got my 5 francs back! It's the first time I've been charged to hand over the key to my one-night room I paid 504 Swiss francs! It is not the money itself, but the commercial dishonesty with which they acted, that bothers me the most! Breakfast is very poor and the hotel is located far from the city. There's no trade nearby. The restaurant closes at 8. Cable car passes are not included in the stay and add up to 20 francs per person to go to Grindelwald. And at 5.30pm the cable car service closes. It is a difficult hotel to reach!! Keep that in mind!

What happened to this restaurant?
The buttered rösti we ordered for a whopping 18 francs was a frozen roulade, bone dry and anything but fresh!
The bottle of wine we ordered also came in two carafes...

A disgrace for Swiss gastronomy!
And absolutely no gastronomic knowledge
We ordered the daily menu, my partner ordered roast veal, that's how it was communicated, and what came was an absolutely loveless roast pork with a ready-made sauce, the red cabbage was straight from a can and the mushrooms were frozen and not even fried, I'm a professional cook but I've never seen anything like it!!!!
And don't even get me started on the älpermagronen!
After I told the service that we couldn't eat it, the restaurant manager came and didn't understand what we had, she had no insight and wanted to charge us for everything!
I was extremely disappointed and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone

Unfortunately, it is only a nice place the restaurant/hotel Bort. That's all that's left. For years we have appreciated and visited the restaurant, but since the takeover of Hüttenzauber it is no longer a comparison. Unloved and neglected in many areas. I don't know what a manager does there, or where he looks. Tragic!
-A menu card that has come down.
Tablecloths that have come down with holes in them.
-Service personnel who do not know the “comment” and do not value it.
-Food that promises nothing more qualitatively and comes close to ready-to-eat food.
The revisit this year has shown that there is obviously no value and Hüttenzauber makes no effort to preserve the quality of the 3star hotel. Too bad!

Fint hotel. The location is fantastic and the view is unique.
The road up to the hotel is very steep, and can be a little scary for some first time you drive up.
Good starting point for hiking away from the human melt in Grindelwald.
Nice clean and well ⁇ ined room.
Friendly and welcoming staff.
The hotel is located right next to the cable station, where there are many tourists, but most people only use the station as an intermediate station, and many drive down on wheels, and they are in no way to bother around the hotel.
The food in the restaurant is ok and the price level is acceptable (Switzerland is expensive).

I could not tell you how much my husband and I cherished our time here! The view from our parking spot was unreal. The scenic photo is from stepping out of our car upon arrival! The room was comfortable, the view from our bed was superb, and we loved opening the windows at night to let the cool mountain air in. You could here the distant waterfall and faint cowbells all night. Idealistic is the best word. The staff was so friendly, and the food was excellent! We’ve tried to recreate the lovely breakfast we enjoyed, but we just cannot get it right in the states. What separates this hotels from others in this town is that it’s perched higher up in the mountain at the first lift stop. You’re high enough to get uninterrupted views, but still connected by the lift to both the the center of the town and the First.
We are celebrating a big anniversary next year, and if travel is opened back up we will plan to return to this wonderful hotel! I’ve never missed a place as much as I miss them!

The place is very special; on a hill next to the skiing lift. Wild animals are walking around and you can make a fantastic walk to the village and back. The hotel is clean and tidy and staff is friendly and well-organised.
Compared to other countries, everything in Zwitserland is very expensive. Also this hotel costs us some money, but it offers good quality. The dinner was very tastefull and healthy. Breakfast was good too, but I would advise a bit of differentiation in the products each day for people who stay longer than 2 nights.
Our bed was a bit small, so we could not sleep very well. But the bathroom was very spacious, although there was not always hot water available. I missed the coffee and tea facilities on the room. It was nice that we had a look on the ski-piste from our window. A fantastic place for a vacation in Zwitserland!

I would think so, but I did not try that.
You absolutely can. We did in July. Be warned, however, that the drive up and down is SUPER steep and narrow and yet is a two-way street. If you meet someone, it could get interesting for you. We never encountered a car either way, and Google maps lead us right there. The in-car navigation was clueless on those back roads.
yes they do.u may take the train via Interlaken
Gondola is best; make sure you buy a pass for the days that you are there as it is much cheaper.
The road up is restricted at some times of the day, so you should assume you are going to park and likely keep the car there. Check what times the road is open. The cable car is expensive but the easiest way to get up and down from the village.
