The hotel alpenblick is located in one of the most breathtaking valleys of the world, and is worth a visit in winter or summer time. In summer the hotel is the starting point for hike and bike trips in the wonderful mountains of Grindelwald. The bus stop is located in front of the hotel, so you can reach all the cable cars easily without walking. On our nice terrace, you can get a drink and enjoy the mountains after a hard day spent in the nature. In winter the ski slopes end directly in front of the hotel. With the skibus, which stops in front of the main door, you can reach easily all cable cars. The hotel Alpenblick is located at the end of the village, and not out of it. The village centre is about 10 minutes or 1 kilometre away.

We stayed for three nights whilst touring. Our room was basic but clean and had a lovely view of the mountains.
The house is quite noisy as it's shared toilets/bathrooms and being wooden it creaks and isn't really insulated for sound. Earplugs are a good idea.
The shared facilities are fine, they were right outside our room so good for us, plus there is a room with kettle, microwave and plates etc. No fridge though which would be a massive advantage.
The room only had one plug by the sink which was awkward to use, extra plugs would be good. Wifi was good.
Bed and bedding was comfortable.
Breakfast was ok, included but basic. Hard boiled eggs, meats, cheese, some cereal, bread, juice, coffee, fruit. The bread was lovely and warm.
We only had evening meal one night at the hotel, all food in Switzerland is pricey and we weren't massively impressed so we had microwave meals for two nights and saved lots. We had soups in the town for lunch which was nice.
Male member of staff checked us in and was friendly and helpful. The two ladies we encountered on the evenings were not, quite abrupt and unfriendly. The housekeepers made the beds and were friendly.
For the price it's a lovely choice, you are close enough to town to walk, about 15 mins and it's quieter than staying in the town centre. We would stay again if in the area

Spent 3 nights in a room with a private bath. Rooms were comfortable and basic with no fridge. There was a small common table, in room safe and small television with windows on 2 sides of the building. Pillows were a bit soft, but bed was comfortable.

Check in was easy. Bernadette was nice enough and explained everything succinctly. No questions permitted until she was done with the monolog, which did answer most questions.

Dinner mains were good on both nights as was the cheese plate and beer. We dined on the outside deck on the first night with sweeping views of the snow capped mountain.

Breakfasts were modest continental style self serve: bread, cheese, cold cuts, jams, boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal, juices and coffee. Seating was inside only and there were many flies each morning. Bit a of a nuisance.

Carrying bags up to the second floor wasn't easy on the spiral staircase. After hours access was through the basement with a coded door lock. We felt safe.

Easy access by bus (limited hours) or short walk from town, up a short hill.

Katerina, the hostess was very nice and answered all of our questions. Bernadette and Jurg seemed to be all business, avoided small talk, but respectful and more formal, Swiss style - nice enough.

Thank you for your comment and rating! We are glad you generally liked your stay at our place! If the weather is nice and warm breakfast can be eaten on our terrace as well ;-).. Yes, we do have flies, as our hotel is next to a farmer, there is not much we can do, as in summertime, the windows and doors in the basement are open during the day. You are right the flies are annoying, but at least they do not harm!

A traditional older style chalet hotel adjacent to the main road, soe distance from the village centre, but with bus stop right outside, (both ways!)
The bedrooms were adequate, and the evening meal was also adequate. The breakfast was modest, but the setting was magnificent looking straight over the valley to The Eiger and its glacier. The owner seemed a little surly and didnt seeminterested in entering into a conversation with us, however the staff were excellent.
Nothing is good value in Switzerland and especially Grindelwald, but this was acceptable. Good free parking to the side and opposite is a bonus.

British family who popped in for and evening meal. We had the fondue, risotto and a smoked sausage stew. I personally really enjoyed the cheese fondue and we all really loved our meals. The host was very friendly and overall it was a really nice place to stop off for a meal. The price compared to all other restaurants in Grindelwald was very competitive indeed. Thanks for a lovely evening.

During our stay in Grindlewald 16th -23rd Feb 2022 we ate here three times. Once as a couple and twice with our daughter's family. Service was friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. Our three grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed the food and the atmosphere in the dining room. Recommend the fish dish with curried vegetables and the Pork steak was excellent.

The beds are great and the views are spectacular. The bar/restaurant downstairs is also lots of fun and the value is phenomenal. However, what stuck with me most was the management.

We stayed here as a large group for a ski-weekend. We'd reserved several rooms, one of which was for 5 guests. However, only 4 of them could make it. The management graciously changed it to a 4-person reservation and gave us the discounted rate, without even being asked and despite our last minute notification. I thought it was very generous of them.

Later, when there was a problem with one of the other rooms, the management immediately gave us a 50% discount and was very concerned with fixing it right away. To me, this speaks volumes about the hotel. Every establishment runs into issues from time to time, but it's how they deal with them that tells you what kind of place they really are. And in this case, Alpenblick exceeded all of my expectations.

I will certainly return.

The hotel is at the far end of the town, but that's not a problem. They give you a free bus pass if you're not willing or able to walk or drive. They have free, but somewhat limited parking. It was not a problem for us.This is a simple, comfortable hotel with simple functional room furnishings. No extras, but nothing really lacking. The bathroom was the tiniest of our trip, but it has sink, shower and toilet, so it was good, No lack of hot water. Our room was on the front wall by the street, but it was not noisy. Being on the end of town probably helps, Breakfast was decent - buffet style with reasonable variety. Nice rooftop terrace with great views. Right at the foot of the local mountain peaks.

We stayed in Grindelwald for two nights and absolutely fell in love with this place. On arrival, we were greates by staff who spoke good english and helped us check in. We were so lucky to get a room with the Mountain View - stunning scenery from our window.
Room - the size of the room was pretty small but was comfortable. There was a sink and towels provided.
Beds - comfortable but the pillows are appauling.
Plugs - There was only one plug in the entire room avaliable to charge our things.
Wifi - really good connection all over the hotel.
Bathroom - we had a shared bathroom which was really clean at all times.
Breakfast - Standard breakfast with a selection of breads, cereals and eggs.
Bus - staying at the hotel entitles you to recieve a free bus pass to take you around Grindelwald.
Distance to train station - about 5 minutes drive or on the bus. Everything is pretty much close and down the road.
Lovely hotel.. would recommend it!

The hotel is a great place to stay as it is has awesome views of the surrounding mountains, it is not exactly located in the town and is about a 10-15 min walk away and is an uphill climb. how ever the bus stops is just in front of the hotel and is free for hotel guests so it makes is very convenient with buses every half hour. The breakfast is great and the restaurant and bar serves nice food in the evening.
