What an absolutely magical place set high in the enchanting Swiss Alps. We stayed in a two-bedroom duplex apartment, with a large terrace facing the Eiger. It was more than enough space for three adults and a teenager. Nicely equipped kitchen for when you want to make a meal. The hotel also offered a very delicious breakfast, my favorite were pretzel croissants.
It's not the easiest walk to the mountain, however, you can get the firstbahn lift in about 10 minutes by walking. I actually took it as a little challenge to get me in shape! However ,none of the smaller hotels that line this road are. But once you adjust to the bus system, it's very seamless getting in and out of town and getting to either the bodmi beginner area or any of the main lift areas. And the buses are free. Grindelwald is a wonderful, authentic Swiss community, with plenty of great restaurants, bakeries and shopping. It seemed a little more authentic or pabs local is a better word, than Zermatt (which we also really loved). Definitely not as upscale, you won't find any Rolex shops on the main Street in Grindelwald.
I'd also like to add the owners are a wonderful couple, everyone at reception was excellent and the housekeeping staff were also excellent. They had a very easily accessed ski room to keep all your stuff as well and offer shuttle service for 10 francs. It was a fairly easy and straightforward trip from Zurich, we picked a train line that had two stops, and essentially takes you right into town. Skiing was great especially for me, I will warn you if you're a true beginner, who doesn't ski a lot during the year, there is a significant difference between what the Swiss consider beginner and what the US considers a beginner trail. Quite frankly, it was a bit too much for my crew, and instead they discovered a wonderful new sport, sledging!

This is a wonderful hotel with great management. We travel all over the world and stay in various accommodations. We recognize when a place is well run. This particular hotel is rustic yet very clean and organized. The space is well laid out and comfortable. The key system to the room is unique and secure. We never felt unsafe/doubtful about it. The staff is so kind and welcoming. We felt the hospitality the moment we get on the shuttle to the location. Everyone that we met was friendly and helpful. The location was a bit out of town, but with some planning, we had no problem using the local bus. It worked out well, as we enjoyed our evenings sitting on the balcony drinking and just staring at the Eiger. We ate at the restaurant one evening, and the food was delicious. So good to have the dinner with the view without the hustle bustle downtown. Switzerland’s beauty is everywhere. You don’t have to go very far to witness it. We wish to return one day. This place has a special spot in our hearts

We are now repeat guests at this hotel and our stay this year was once again fantastic. The reception on our arrival was very friendly and warm, and until our room was ready in the afternoon, we were able to leave our luggage at reception and go on our first excursion without any problems. As always, our room was nice and big and very comfortable, the bathroom was also very clean and had all the amenities. Since it was very hot in Grindelwald that weekend, the in-room refrigerator was just what we needed. The breathtaking view from our large balcony of the Eiger and the neighboring mountains, including the glacier, was particularly impressive; we spent a lot of time here. You can also get a very nice view of the mountains from the communal terrace in the restaurant area, where you can spend the whole day on comfortable seating (armchair/couch/wicker chairs) and you can also help yourself to the coffee machine in the breakfast room at any time - hot water for tea is also provided. What we also particularly liked is the hotel's great location. Although not quite as centrally located in the middle of Grindelwald, it is above all very quiet and idyllic, away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. We always enjoy the walk into the village through the meadows and the steep slope; in 10 minutes you are at the First cable car and right in the middle of the hustle and bustle. The reason for our stay was the Eiger Ultra Trail, and on the day of the race it was great that we were able to have breakfast a little earlier than usual and thus start the day of the event well prepared. The size of the breakfast also deserves a special mention - great. We'll be happy to come back!!!

Enjoyed our stay here. The views on clear days were amazing. It was nice to get a ride from the train station as we learned how to navigate the bus which we used often during our stay. The breakfast is good. Rooms were clean and well equipped. With assistance from staff you can use the washer/dryer if you let them know.

First of all the town for Grindewald is ridiculously beautiful. The hotel is a classic Swiss Chalet and was absolutely amazing to stay at. We had a balcony room facing the mountains and it was stunning. There was free parking at the hotel and I would recommend the 10 min walk into the city so you don’t have to park at the pay parking. They have a washer and dryer (be aware the dryer is EXTREMELY slow and you will have to run it four times to dry). I would definitely stay there again!

This hotel sits above Grindelwald and is about a 10 minute walk back to the shops and restaurants via a "hidden" pathway and not the road. The hotel is quiet, has good sized rooms which are clean and well furnished with fabulous views and good parking availability. A very good, self-serve breakfast is available which you can eat at your allocated table. Grindelwald is a great location for easy access to many scenic Swiss sights.

The best part of this property is its location.... the rooms overlook the greenery and mountain in the best part of Grindelwald. The view is just mesmerising.
The people at the hotel are also very kind and helpful. The breakfast is also very good value for money. I had stayed at some very luxury hotels in Switzerland but I must say the breakfast at this hotel was better than the expensive luxurious hotels I have stayed in Switzerland.
The room size is also good and comfortable. The bathroom is also big.
The need to improve their housekeeping a bit. Other than this I enjoyed my stay at this hotel with great views.
Wish they had their restaurant operational during our stay. I understand that except in winters, the restaurant is not very economically viable so I am not complaining.
Highly recommend this hotel.... it is very reasonably priced and good sized rooms with fantastic views and good breakfast.

Very nice hotel with courteous people. For Grindelwald good value for money, just outside the center, but well served by bus. The breakfast buffet is very rich and uncomplicated, the menu for the evening rather small, but the food good and also not too expensive.

We just completed an amazing 5 night stay in this wonderful establishment and we couldn’t be happier we trusted all the positive reviews already posted. From the friendly reception by Sandra upon arrival to the equally sweet send off from Katrina when leaving, it’s clear that this hotel places a high value on customer care and service. Irene was also a fun, caring and passionate owner who went the extra mile to make her guests feel welcomed and appreciated. She also makes some of the BEST jams we’ve ever tasted! In fact, the breakfast provided each morning with its wide selection of foods beautifully displayed was always a highlight and unlike anything else we’ve experienced elsewhere. Although I could go on and on, suffice to say you must simply trust every positive review already posted. There’s just so much to LOVE about Hotel Gletscherblick!

We have just returned from this hotel and had a lovely stay here. Comfortable, clean rooms and cosy with the weather being a little chilly, was a lovely place to come back to. Rooms were spacious (although photo on Booking.com) of the bathroom has been elongated as it was nowhere near as big as the photo. These photos I feel needs changing as it is not a true reflection on bathroom size. No tea and coffee in room but is served all day in breakfast room. Lovely views from the room and I am sure any room here would offer you an amazing view. Rooms are quiet inbetween rooms but upstairs, footsteps could be heard quite easily. One night there may have been a child running up and down the room which got annoying, so sound proofing marginal between floors, especially if people are walking heavy footed. Parking was no problem at all and was plentiful all day and in the evening and walking too and from town was 10 minutes on the steep wanderwegs or 20 mins on the road. Ideal if you are not wanting to stay on the high street. The wanderweg brings you out near Firstbahn. Mask wearing we were told was not compulsory here however all the hotels and restaurants we came across in town were very strict on this and the hotel does not have a strict policy on mask wearing with staff or guests. Breakfast buffet area and mealtimes I think should be made with compulsory mask wearing. They do provide hand sanitiser and gloves at the buffet but did not see many using it!!! Having said that overall a great stay.
