Overlooking the surrounding Saanenland, the Gstaad Palace rises from the forest like a fairy-tale castle. Yet the delights and pleasures that await the traveller within its walls are real. Situated in the Bernese Oberland, the five-star hotel is one of the Leading Hotels of the World and has been enchanting visitors since 1913 – not with magic spells, but by offering true hospitality and lived tradition. Sustainability and a close affinity to nature are part of the Palace DNA, which has been in the hands of the Scherz family for three generations. Discretion is a core value in this Swiss luxury hotel, as are cordiality and service with a personal touch. A warm welcome awaits all the family, with special entertainment provided for the kids. All 90 suites and rooms are individually furnished in a chic, alpine style. They offer highest standards in comfort and fantastic views of the mountain panorama. In summer, Palace guests can enjoy an authentic alpine lunch or dinner at the Walig Hut, a secluded hideaway that is also available for an overnight stay close to the stars. The Gstaad Palace serves top quality regional produce across its five restaurants. Internationally inspired, the hotel’s cuisine is enriched with a dash of Asian sophistication and a sprinkle of Mediterranean vivacity. The Lobby Bar – also known as Gstaad's living room – is a popular and convivial meeting place for all, while dancing queens and party kings will feel at home among the dazzling lights of the legendary GreenGo Club. With its comprehensive infrastructure, the Gstaad Palace offers everything required for special celebrations, weddings, meetings and conferences. Covering 1800 square metres, the Palace Spa is an oasis of mindfulness with jacuzzi, hammam, sauna, lounge and relaxation room. A range of massages and treatments using selected botanical ingredients is offered in a serene environment featuring granite from nearby Lake Blausee, an open log fire and views of the mountains. While the indoor pool is available all year round, the outdoor «PISCINE» has been a top meeting place for summer visitors to Gstaad since 1928. A favourite with guests and locals alike, the Olympic-sized pool is the perfect place for cooling down. A fitness and Pilates room, as well as tennis and squash courts further complement the range of sporting facilities. The extensive ski area is within easy reach, while the golf course is situated just 19 km away. A gentle stroll of around eight minutes will take hotel guests to Gstaad's village centre and railway station.

We have been going to Gstaad for years. We have rented a chalet many times, we have stayed at other hotels but nothing beats The Palace. Great rooms, looks of space, great internet, amazing olympic size pool (could be 2-3 degrees warmer but huge so understand why that may not be possible. Our rooms were interconnecting and everything worked well. They all took C19 very seriously with lots of sanitiser stations all around. Everyone was also very good at keeping a good social distancing. The bar is always great and we used room service a few times; that Club Sandwich is just the BEST! Kids had an amazing time. Lots for them to do and lots of elbow room. It is an easy walk down to the village. We are going back next year!

Dear Janspeterj2018 Thank you very much for taking the time to give us this wonderful feedback. We are pleased to read that you have had such a good stay with us and that you think that we have implemented our Covid19 concept well. Our Culinary Director Franz Faeh and his team were especially pleased about your nice compliment about his club sandwich, it is already the second one this month of August. Thank you again for your nice feedback and we are already looking forward to your visit next summer. Best wishes from the Palace Barbara Branco-Schiess Guest Relations Manager

When even the person who answers the room service number sounds like your favourite Maitre D, you know the details are being looked after. There are various five star luxury hotels to choose from in Gstaad, but the Palace remains the standard by which they’re all judged. The Alpina is rock’n’roll, the Bellevue is crisp and efficient, the Park feels a bit forgotten, but the Palace has a towering presence that mixes old world service and glamour, home comforts and staff who strike the right balance of pampering and friendliness. I’ve never been stuck in a hotel for a month, but if I had to be, it would be here.

Obviously high-end hotel with the level of service and quality of food to match. The staff were amazing even to the extent of remembering our room number and names whenever we asked the reception or concierge for help.

The room was very good although it didn’t have a view of the mountains. We had half board and the food could be selected from the a la carte menu using an allowance and paying extra. This we felf was a nice arrangements, and doesn’t make you feel like second-class citizens by having to eat from a special menu.

The view of the mountains from the breakfast terrace is spectacular. The Olympic size swimming pool with diving boards was simply great and our favourite place to relax, although it could get busy with families. We also had food at the pool bar, which was lovely.

One day we used bikes from the hotel for which there was no charge, and its's worth reserving in advance.

Could easily spend the entire summer here.

My family has been coming to the Palace for over forty years. In that time we have always loved the Palace's unique combination of luxury, family warmth and majestic views/ setting. Well, turns out even a great experience can still be enhanced. Reflecting on our latest stay here in January, in my humble opinion this is the best the hotel's ever been. It is a true gem!
The rooms (especially the baths) have been significantly upscaled over the last few years and are spacious and stylish. Housekeeping was particularly sharp and diligent, with any request handled literally within minutes.
The food, already a highlight, has also seen some remarkable improvements of late. Having opened up the culinary range to go beyond the (still great) Swiss and Italian classics to also offer a wide range of Indian and pan-Asian dishes means there's something new to discover literally every day. And as great as the restaurants and their dedicated staffs are, it's actually also very comfortable to simply stay in, as room service at the Palace has been improved to a remarkable degree in recent years, with a substantial cross-section menu and a wonderful, personable staff.
And speaking of staff, I cannot emphasize enough how friendly, welcoming and diligent literally everyone we've come in contact with at the Palace has been. Thank you for a truly wonderful holiday experience!

The Palace Hotel is the last of old fashioned privately run Hotels where they can organise anything you need-

My wife and son aged 8 spent 18 nights here when The Palace re-opened. It was my first choice of Hotel with all the goings on with Covid. I knew that The Palace would surpass itself in terms of the right balance of hygiene and the sheer practicalities of running a 5 star Hotel.

It sure did from the expertly handled quick turnaround of daily laundry to the extremely kind and efficient 3 concierges, Stefan, Stefano and Giovanni who together with the whole team in reception must have scanned over 300 pages for me throughout my stay, Barbara who as in charge of Guest Relations was always present at times when needed and efficient and kind at that, Mario in the bar for the best daily bullshots, Andreas for his totally unflappable attitude and serious organisation of the restaurants-Carlos the wonderful doorman. These are only a few of the truly excellent staff all run under the owners watchful eye.

This is a Hotel like no other with the best terrace in The Alps. The service here is outstanding on all fronts. The beds incredibly comfortable. All in all a faultless stay and yes I would go again!!!!!

Thank you TO ALL the team at The Palace.

Drinks & Dinner at the palace.

Service was average at best. multiple waiters kept getting confused about orders / dishes. Some didnt speak German or English so had ro consult amongst each other.

We were presented with a dish with "basmati rice" but they just forgot to serve the rice. Drinks on the rock came without ice cubes, champagne glasses were served with less than advertized and some waters that were served at another table were being opened on our table (never in my life have I seen this and in my view this is unacceptable. How would you feel if your drink was prepared on another persons table before served to you?)

Our dishes looked like from the 1970's. Food quality was very good but in 2023 I would hope for some modernization of the food presentation. Overall vibe / crowd fairly stuffy.

As somebody else noticed before, why do you have pay 2 CHF for your coats (which by the way the waiters were kindly to collect upon arrival but them asked us to collect ourselves upon leaving). Somebody left their dog in the cloakroom, poor animal was unhappy and crying loudly.

Gstaad has many amazing places, for me this is certainly not one of them.

We had dinner at the Gstaad Palace, at the Le Grand Terrasse restaurant. It was the worst possible dining experience. The service was terrible, servers and waiters were rushing and running everywhere. The food was below average - such a basic salad and soup. The Indian food was absolutely terrible and I fail to believe an Indian chef made the food - it was floating in loads of oil and extremely flavorless. Please do not eat the Indian food there. Overall, probably one of the worst dining experiences of my life. Go to any other restaurant in Gstaad, just not this one. Not worth the money for sure. We are staying at the Park Gstaad and the restaurant here is incredible in comparison!!

We called several hours ahead to make a reservation in the lobby lounge. They told us that they didn’t take reservations and it was on a first come first serve basis. So we showed up around 8:30 PM on Saturday night. We were told to speak with Mario who seemed to be the host or floor manager. We asked if we planned to have food or just drinks we told him that we intended to have both. After looking at us from head to toe he started shaking his head - NO - NO. and told us to wait by the bar. Mario was a RUDE and Obnoxious. Mario undoubtedly wanted to a “cash tip or bribe” to secure a table. I’m sorry but paying 30 Francs for a beverage is already a shake down enough. I wasn’t about to pay Mario for the privilege of dining at the Palace Hotel. Mario is unprofessional and his thuggish behavior is not appreciated. Shame on the Gstaad Palace.
Double your shame for trying to remove my post !! Focus your attention on not embarrassing your Guests and firing Mario.

Dear Guest, At the Gstaad Palace we appreciate any feedback good or bad. In this case, we are not quite sure what the issue was. We do know it was during a very busy period and we also know that Mario who has been with us for over 26 years always tries to accommodate all guests whenever possible in the best possible way, hence his impeccable reputation. Of course it is not always possible to attend everyone’s request as we can read and from what we understand, this may have been the case, which has led to your disappointment and subsequent review on TripAdvisor. All we can say is that we are sorry if there has been any misunderstanding caused, however we can assure you and any other future potential guests who read this review, that it is clear that this is not in line with the values and professionalism of the Gstaad Palace and must therefore question the intention of the posting of this review. If we are wrong, we would be very grateful that you please reach out directly to guestrelations@palace.ch who will be happy to discuss this in person to understand what happened and take further action. With kind regards, Barbara Branco-Schiess Guest Relations Manager

The Gstaad Palace is a place to be if you are ready to pay high prices for the rooms. The hotel is lovely built in and out. The rooms we had were one of the best I have ever seen. This modern and wooden design is just a marvelous fusion. One downside was once in the dining when some cauliflower was burnt and we had to discuss with the waiter, that was unnessary. The other downside was the dresscode policy which was not for everyone the same - you have one and do it on everybody or not. The last downside was the prices im the bar. A cocktail was like 33 CHF which is abnormally high.

Dear SB1319 Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are very sorry to read that we have made you feel that the dress code is equally applied to everyone. Thank you for mentioning it as it helps us to pay more attention to it. On the other hand, we are happy to read that you liked the building itself and also the way the rooms are decorated. Mr. Andrea Scherz, owner and General Manager in the third generation, personally works with our interior designer to make sure that we are a modern hotel respecting the mountain feeling. We would be very happy to welcome you back to the Gstaad Palace on another occasion. Kind regards, Barbara Branco-Schiess Guest Relations Manager

I decided to make a weekend trip to Gstaad and a visit at the Palace. Definately this was NOT my last trip. From the arrival until departure, all staff were top notch and very welcoming: from the Reception, Bar, Restaurant & Breakfast service, all did the outmost to make me happy.
The room was very bright with a private balcony and a view to the alps. Interior in wondeful grey colors (very discreet).
The SPA was very luxurious and the treatment outstanding. I was so relaxed after. Offered different teas after the treatment or water with with nuts and dried fruits.
Dinner at the "Fromagerie" & The "Restaurant" were supberb and beautifully served.

A real traditional private owned "Luxury-Resort" which I can fully recommend and I hope to be there in the summer for a few days.

Dear tryone w, The Gstaad Palace is not a ski in / ski out hotel. We do have a shuttle to the Eggli and the ski school Wispile, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. If you book private ski lessons the teacher comes and picks you up at the hotel.

Dear Narimari, Thank you for your question. Yes children of every age can use the outdoor pool. From now until around the 28 August 2017 the Olympic size outdoor pool with a diving platform is open. We have as well an indoor pool with a size of 11x16m with normal water and a temperature of 28°. Children under 14 years can use the spa and the Jacuzzi every Wednesday and Sunday from 8.30am until 15.30pm. The concierge will be pleased to give you some ideas about hiking, river rafting and bike route for children. Romuald Bour Directeur
