Nestled in a prime spot with easy access to local attractions, the Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern delights guests with its blend of classic elegance and modern flair. The luxurious amenities and stunning lake views are frequently praised, as are the comfortable, modern, and spotlessly clean rooms that boast unique decorations.
While the hotel's service is generally acclaimed for being attentive and friendly, a few guests have encountered less satisfactory experiences. Despite the steep prices and additional fees, many travelers feel the hotel provides good value for a high-quality stay.

Detailed Reviews
We are back from a very memorable visit at the Schweizerhof in Lucerne. Great location, beautiful hotel and very friendly staff. We went for a lovely hike about a half hour drive from the hotel and enjoyed dinner just a 2 minute walk right on the lake. Rooms were very well done and got lots of little extras you expect at 5-star like turn-down service with excellent chocolates and a minibar with soft drinks (alcohol extra). We had city view rooms which we booked so not the lake / mountains but still large, high quality and well worth the price. Close to Chapel Bridge and if you’re up for a very nice run / walk, I recommend a trip up to the Lucerne golf course (less than 3km). Our family loved our visit and hope to return.

Our first impression was not good.
We had walked in the rain from the railway station, on arrival at 11:30 the rude young man at the counter said “You are too early come back later” fortunately another staff member guided us to the baggage store and stored our luggage
When we returned later in the afternoon we were greeted by a charming young lady who gave us a six star welcome checked us in and showed us to our room.
From that point on the service was first class as was the hotel food and facilities.
Our first floor room was large, with everything thing you would expect from a hotel of this caliber
First impressions aside I would be happy to return to Hotel Schweizerhof and equally happy to recommend staying here to our friends

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
The hotel is very well situated. Maximum 10 minutes walking distance to the center of town or the KKL concert hall a must visit for music lovers. The rooms are well decorated and comfortable. The amenities are perfect. The bed and mattress very comfortable. As we were going to stay only one night (for a concert) I opted for a city view room which might have been a mistake. That said even the city view room was rather expensive. We had a lovely after concert dinner at the piano bar. Excellent service and food at very reasonable price.
All said and done we enjoyed every single moment.

Living in Luzern means you don't usually stay in the hotels there. But through the friends and family card we can take advantage of the generous offers and change that.
We arrived slightly early so that my partner could take advantage of the spa offers. Our room was ready so we checked in. First impressions are the lift is very small but the rooms are generously proportioned, clean and nicely furnished. The soft drinks in the well stocked mini-bar are complimentary and the mini-bar is restocked regularly.
Heading up to the wellness area, I first went to the fitness. This was small but did have some machines and a stock of weights. I was able to exercise on my own as it did not seem well used. What was missing apart from more opportunities to exercise was a small towel. Moving into the wellness area, there were two saunas 50C and 80C. Both were small and the sprung top bench was a little unusual to climb onto but once lying was very comfortable. After 15 minutes I went to the relax area which was comfortable.
After the sauna there was adequate opportunity to shower before heading back to the room.
The bed was large albeit two singles pushed together. It was also hard with a good selection of pillows and the room was well insulated meaning there was minimal noise from outside. Sleeping was therefore easy and waking up hard:) The bathroom was adequate without being special. The TV was also smart so it was possible to connect to Netflix over the mobile phone.
The bar in the Schweizerhof is comfortable although service suffers when it is busy, the restaurants are good without being outstanding and the services is friendly and helpful.
I like the Schweizerhof and it really is a great old hotel offering plenty of options for functions, supporting the local community and it does looks after you well. But it could be so much more with just a little bit more thought - perhaps a whirlpool in the wellness, partnering with a tennis club or with one of the golf clubs nearby to offer something else. Yes, its a city hotel living by providing for the short term stays, but the competition is just over the shoulder...

First trip to Switzerland. Lucerne didn’t disappoint and the Hotel Schweizerhof exceeded expectations. From the 170 year old building that has been beautifully appointed to the world class service, the experience was amazing.
Booked a lake view room and the views were the only thing that bettered the accommodation. From the bottle of champagne on ice to the cosy chairs to take in the view, the room was themed with stories of famous guests of the past and showed little details that highlight the care the hotel takes to make the experience special.
While we’ve only visited once, any future trip to Lucerne will definitely include staying at Hotel Schweiserhof.
Thanks to all of the team who make this hotel amazing.

My favorite to go to place in Luzern!
This is my second kitchen! The service was very good! Overall! When there was the pandemic in 2020 & when the restrictions were relaxed, this hotel was very careful with everything especially with the cleanliness and also ensuring the customers & their staff are protected.
During that time one of their staff was talking to us, and was very near and sometimes his aerosols were spraying in all of us so I wrote to the manager & explained what happened & they apologised & also offered us a voucher which was really a nice gesture & would be expected to a 5 star hotel!
I really appreciate it when everyone relaxed the restrictions & yet their staff were still wearing mask to show the protection of their customer. So I always felt at ease when I go here & eat! Also the high ceiling of the restaurant is I really like!
We always go here for breakfast or just for a drink. It is very convenient!
For me it is just very good & also they offer bread when you order for lunch or dinner which I would say a good gesture from a 5 star hotel.
I also tried other 5 stars hotel, you pay more but you dont get this bread which is offered from the kitchen in addition to the welcome greeting food from the chef! Overall I like it here service & staff & would alwsys go here with my friends & family!
This is like my second home here! 😀

Breakfast is very tasty and you get everything fresh.
The hotel is in the middle of the city. Near from trainstatiom, from downtown next to the lake.

+1
The hotel is located just at the lake of Vierwaldstaetter / Lake Lucerne - it has very nice decorated lobby, extremely friendly staff - doormen, reception, staff throughout the hotel.
Their rooms are faboulus and there‘s a nice concept behind with their storybook.
Very comfy, clean and quiet rooms.
The restaurant is nice though if you can check out also the local surroundings.
A wonderful experience we enjoyed as a little family so much! Our 1-year old daughter enjoyed it too and was very welcome at this hotel. Can highly recommend this place, it‘s absolutely worth it!

We stayed at the Schweizerhof Luzern for 3 nights in November 2020, during Covid-19.
The hotel is located in front of the lake and had we had a beautiful room. They had upgraded us to a Suite which was a really nice gesture. The room was spacious and clean, and we had both a shower and a bathtub in the bathroom.
Breakfast was good, though nothing really special. As per Covid restrictions, breakfast was only available through room service but I thought the pastries were not that good and the selection of granola/musli wasn't special either. Just not good enough for the hotel and price.
The staff as well was not attentive at all. We were carrying our luggage and nobody helped us up the outdoor steps, and nobody even assisted us once we entered. Every time we left or came back to the hotel, nobody even lifted their heads up from their computers to acknowledge us when we said goodbye or hello. Not really attentive, that's all.
The room was newly refurbished and we enjoyed it, however the lack of attention on behalf of the staff and the average breakfast is the reason for the 3/5 score.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights as an added excursion with the Viking River Cruise. It is one of the most beautiful hotels we have ever stayed in. The charm, history, architecture, is second to none. It is beautifully decorated and located in the heart of old town Lucerne, across from the boat rides on Lake Lucerne. Easily accessible to everywhere you need to go. Did I mention the gorgeous view of the alps?
Our room was very quiet and located on the 3rd floor. Our room was themed on the famous musician, Arturo Toscanini, who had stayed there. I believe all of the rooms are themed from famous people who had stayed there. The hallways are some of the longest you will ever see. Everything worked to perfection in the room and we were each provided a complimentary muffin in a small tin can that reflected the history and tradition of the hotel. Each night our room was turned down and each given a small piece of chocolate in a smaller tin can.
Breakfast was included in our package and we were disappointed with it. You had the option of ordering off a menu, which we did. Still disappointed. However, we did have drinks in the bar one night with some friends and then had drinks outside the next afternoon overlooking the Lake. Priceless.
The entire staff was polite, friendly, and warm. This extends from the front desk to the wait staff to the housekeeping staff. If and when we ever returned, this would be our spot.

yes, slacks and shirt are acceptable
Yes they are. Would recommend making a booking especially if you are traveling during peak periods to ensure you have a spot.
When we first arrived as we weren't sure exactly which way to go, we took a taxi with our luggage and paid about CHF15 if I remember correctly.
We took day trips everyday and without our luggage it was a comfortable walk - less than 10 minutes for sure.
When we checked out, we opted to use a taxi again which the hotel helped organize us just because it was easier with our luggage.
Hope you have a memorable stay.
We had a view of the lake out our side window; lovely room.We did a train ride to Mt Riki and a ride in a very new boat on Lake Lucerne as well as a visit to a cheese factory and a monastery.
Have fun I think you can call or email the reception!
