The hotel of the Swiss government with a history extending back 150 years – The BELLEVUE PALACE is the only grand hotel in the heart of the capital. The magnificent salons, the grandiose vista of the Bernese Alps and the warm hospitality make this luxury hotel so unique. It has always been a meeting place for politicians and diplomats, it featured in John le Carre's spy novels, and it is also a casual meeting place for the whole of Berne. La BELLE VIE au BELLEVUE PALACE.

As of 05/19/21, it was my 4th time spending a night in Bellevue palace, and I still love it!! Very nice room, excellent service, chill atmosphere ( that's the most important point). This hotel is made for guests who seek calmness and peace within themselves after facing a challenging period that allows them to recharge with a comfy bed, clean environment, and excellent facilities. This hotel is a must-try thanks to its rich history as the world's biggest names came here, such as Winston Churchill, Mikhail Gorbatchev, Charlie Chaplin, and more...😏😉

After a very fractious and tiring journey from the UK via Eurostar and the French railway system (needs updating!); it was indeed a welcome sight to see the entrance of the Bellevue Palace hotel after the short walk from the railway station. Here there is a sense of calm efficiency where your bags taken and you are invited to sit in the warm and comfortable surroundings of the lounge.
Our room was large and spacious - right at the top of the hotel with fabulous views over the town and river; with the snow covered Alps in the distance.
We stayed for 4 nights and enjoyed every minute. Breakfast was as much or as little as you wanted with copious amounts of fruit, bacon, eggs, toast, tea and coffee.
The staff were unfailingly friendly, polite and courteous - with a special mention for Raphael on the front desk who looked after us; providing advice and guidance when required.
This was a special treat for our 50th Wedding Anniversary and our 70th birthdays - all occurring in the year of lockdown, so taken a year late! None the less the hotel provided a Birthday cake and other treats to make the occasion special for us.
This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in and hopefully we will be returning in the not too distant future.

We had a superior room and we weren't disappointed. The room had a giant bath tub in the middle of the room and we loved it.
The reception was very friendly but what they said for the room sounded very "robotic" and it wasn't personalised. We came by car and they offered to park it for us but they never said that it would cost.
The hallway of the "renovated" floor was empty and the beige walls with the blue carpet looked like the set of "Shining" by Stephen King.
The room had a little emergency light, which we could't turn off and it bothered me quite a bit since I'm a light sleeper.

We had a wonderful weekend at the Bellevue Palace. When we arrived at 10 am we were pleasantly surprised to find our room ready, so we were able to check-in early and moreover, had been upgraded to a suite! The suite was lovely, living room, bedroom and 2 balconies overlooking the main square and the river. The service was exceptional - my two boys were welcomed with a toy bear, the symbol of Bern to take back as a souvenir. The hotel provides a free ticket on all the public transport in Bern for the duration of your stay, though given the excellent location, you barely need it as everything in easily accessible by foot.
After a day of sightseeing we returned to a fruit basket in the room, as well as a bar of Bernese chocolate which was a nice surprise.
We dined at the Vue, the Michelin star restaurant at the hotel and the food and service were excellent. There was a proper turn down service in the room whilst we were at dinner, which was much appreciated.
The next morning we were offered a late checkout, so that we could sleep in on a Sunday and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast at the hotel. There was a nice buffet and a good menu of made to order dishes as well - my eggs Benedict was perfect (and I’m from NYC!) and the service was wonderful as well.
The Bellevue Palace is a grand hotel in the true sense of that the word! A real treat!

We visited the hotel today to have some drinks and lunch on their outside seating area. When we arrived the waiter gave us a table which was on the end of the terrace clearly separating us from the hotel guests. We sat there for half an hour trying to get a waiters attention so we could order, but we were not granted a second of attention. After trying for half an hour we left without being served. Definitely felt like we were considered ‘below’ the hotel/bar’s level and we were not treated in a welcoming way. It felt like we were considered inferior. Would not recommend to grab any drinks or food here if you are not a hotel resident.

Due to the pandemic, there is currently no other option than to book an overnight stay at a hotel, if you want to eat out in a restaurant. And that’s exactly what I made use of to celebrate my birthday. I booked an overnight stay at the Bellevue Palace in Bern and must say, the experience was absolutely stunning!
Starting with the reception at the front desk to the guest service during dinner and breakfast, we were taken care of first class. Our room was spacious and luxuriously furnished and offered a beautiful view of the Aare River. Everything presented itself to us one would expect from a five-star hotel.
If there is anything that even stands out, it is the exceedingly friendly and competent staff that very obviously takes pride being engaged with the hotel and which makes one feel at ease from the moment one enters this place. So dear Bellevue Palace Team, thank you very much for the unforgettable experience and for making us feel so warm, comfortable, and welcome.

We stopped off at the Bellevue Palace on our way back from Basel (we went to see John Cleese), but this hotel certainly wasn't Fawlty Towers. On the contrary, it was one of the most wonderful dining experiences I've had in a very long time.

The whole experience from the reservation at short notice to paying the bill was 1st class. The array of food on offer is remarkable, you name it they had it - a roast, sashimi, eggs benedicte...the puddings were equally impressive, apple crumbles, home made patisseries, sorbets, artisanal ice creams. As it was hot we also asked for chilled coffee, fortunately one of the waiters (Alfonso) was from Italy, he personally made is 2 wonderful frappes, served in champagne coupes.

Whilst we dined on the beautiful terrace the food is obviously served indoors next to the Royal room. It's such a wonderful building and there is so much space.

We'll definitely be returning, perhaps next time we'll stay overnight too.

I went there for afternoon tea on 12.07.21 with my colleague. When we arrived, there were not too many customers, so we were seated right away. We received the menu card, and we waited for over 30 minutes for service. There were five waiters for five occupied tables, and still no one attended us. While we were waiting, new customers were coming in and they received their drinks before us. After seeing this, we got up and left. We were so disappointed! I used to like this place but never again, and I will definitely tell all my friends not to support this business!

This hotel is a true five-star with spotless service. The hotel is literally right next to the Federal Palace, seat of the Swiss government. The hotel is also right in the historical centre of Berne, a city that, being Swiss, I recommend especially to foreigners to visit. The hotel has a valet service but you can park at the ‘Casino Parking’, which is next to the hotel. The staff is impeccable: from the receptionist to the lobby bar waiters everyone is always very smiling and willing to help with any request. A positive aspect of Berne, like Geneva, Is that hotel guests receive a voucher to use public transport. I had booked through Leading Hotel of the World and got an upgrade to a Deluxe room with a view of the river Aare. A simply fantastic room. Although renovated, the room, like the rest of the hotel, shows the legacies of the Belle Epoque days. The bed was very comfortable and I found for the first time in my life a pair of binoculars in the room...provided for viewing the Bernese Oberland Alps. The breakfast with excellent quality products and the possibility to order additional dishes alongside the buffet. Certainly, the hotel is not cheap but I found to be in Switzerland in such a location has a very reasonable price. Absolutely recommended!!!

A grande dame in the heart of Bern, next to the Federal institutions and owned by the Swiss Confederation!

We spent one night end of December, the welcome, the attention of the team was just outstanding, from the concierge to the front desk, the Bellevue bar, the VUE restaurant and the breakfast service, a special note to Adis, who organized ginger for my morning tea as I felt a beginning of cold. This has to be highlighted, as it came with heart and empathy. All the team is smiling and really looking after you above the procedures.

The rooms are large and comfortable bedding, very clean. A recommendation, avoid rooms looking over the interior court yard.

The brasserie - VUE is well designed (mixing contemporary furniture within a Belle Epoque room), the cuisine is perfect as well as the service!

Also, ask for the city ticket (free of charge), allowing you to use public transportation within the city for free.
