Enjoy your stay in Siena!
My fiancé and I stayed at Aia Mattonata Relais back in May and it was simply, wonderful. The owners, Mario and Elisabetta were two of the kindest and most personable people we’ve met and truly made our stay even more memorable (Mario even went out of his way to help us with a rental car issue we had). Their quaint Tuscan villa is perfectly situated just outside of Siena, with a great view of the town from the backyard. The villa has everything you need, from its charming suites, to its manicured grounds and pool. A delicious breakfast was served every morning to start the day and wine and snacks were put out in the evening to greet you when returning from the day’s adventures. Overall, the villa provides a perfectly serene getaway for those looking to stay in the heart of Tuscany. Mario and Elisabetta also provided great suggestions of things to do and see in the area, which included one of the most scenic drives in the entire Tuscan region heading south from Siena to Asciano. On this drive, you’ll see countless quintessential Tuscan views and not much farther from there, you’ll hit Val d’Orcia valley with the towns of Pienza, Montalcino, and Montepulciano that we highly suggest to visit with great wineries and amazing food. Around here, you’ll find famous spots, such as the “Gladiator road” of Italian Cypress trees and also the villa from the movie. You’ll also see the Chapel of the Madonna di Vitaleta that’s located in the hills of Val d’Orcia on the road between San Quirico d’Orcia and Pienza. Needless to say, we highly recommend staying at Aia Mattonata Relais and can’t wait to visit again! Mario and Elisabetta - we can’t thank you enough for such an amazing stay! -Mike and Ashley North Carolina, USA…
Aia Mattonata Relais was a wonderful experience. There is a beautiful sitting area outside from which you can see Siena in the distance, just a few miles away. It’s a mesmerizing view. The owners are friendly and hospitable and live nearby, and they enjoy interacting with their guests. My room was spacious. The breakfast was outstanding. It is a great place for relaxing while exploring the Tuscan towns and countryside. I would go back again for sure and wholeheartedly recommend it to family, friends, and other travelers.
We spent 3 days at Aia Mattonata at the end of September. What a little piece of heaven. Mario and Elisabetta where the ultimate hosts. The views were spectacular. It was lovely and homey. We spend days touring Tuscany and it was so nice to go back to this peaceful retreat. We plan on going back in a few years and will definitely be spending a few days at this charming bed and breakfast.
My girlfriend and I picked the Aia Mattonata Relais as our "home base" for several days exploring both Siena and Tuscany. Our first impression upon arriving was the stunning view of Siena from the garden with the gorgeous countryside surrounding it. I was very glad to be close to town but also not in the middle of it as the nights were peaceful and more relaxing than it would have been within the city walls. The city was still easily accessible via a short drive for dinner or tours so the location didn't present a challenge in that regard. The view was just the beginning, as other guests have noted, Mario and Elisabetta are extremely welcoming and accommodating hosts, who helped us plan our time in the area including wonderful restaurant recommendations and reservations, a walking tour of Siena, and arranging a cooking class nearby (a must-do if you have the time!). Even with some schedule changes and moving reservations, nothing seemed to bother then and they gladly helped us out in any way they could. We are very particular about restaurants (being from NYC) and their recommendations were all perfect! A big THANK YOU to them for helping us plan so many details of our stay in the area. Lastly, all the little details at this hotel will make you feel right at home. From a lovely breakfast spread served in either the garden or patio, to a little bar of complementary snacks and drinks available throughout the day, we always felt perfectly comfortable and right at home. If you're lucky enough to grab one of the rooms at this hotel for a stay in Tuscany, you certainly won't regret it!…
Mario and Elizabetta were very warm and welcoming and their place is beautiful. We enjoyed our brief stay with them and would love to return here if we are traveling through Sienna again. They made us feel at home and had very nice extra touches like snacks available all day and extra drinks and waters in the room mini bar. The room was great and bed was very comfortable.
