I like the supser central location, the nice elegant building and the retro flare of the place, a real home a little bit old but overall well kept
Nice, essential bedroom, old bathroom, very nice and welcoming staff.
Reasonable prices.
There is no breakfast room, so they try their best: breakfast on a tray, you can ask for what you like and have a good breakfast in your room looking at the beautiful Via Tornabuoni.

We stayed 3 nights here as part of a 3-week trip and enjoyed it very much. The building is unique & interesting, the location very central, and our hosts couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant.

This is a 1-star and so it's missing a couple of comforts, such as TV or air conditioning (not a problem for us in late October, but this is mosquito country and I'd imagine with windows open in hotter weather it could be annoying), thin walls and no carpets in the halls meaning you do hear other guests coming and going and settling in.

But it's spotlessly clean, bathrooms are new, and the location is ideal. A good value at 95 euros/night, though you'll be asked to pay in cash.

Don't let the one star rating put you off the Scoti. It is a pensione in a 16th century building on the fashionable Via Tornabuoni. Our neighbors were Prada, Cartier, and Tiffany. There is an elevator to their location on the 2nd floor. The owner is a lovely woman who is Italian but was raised in Australia. She and her family live in a wing in the pensione. Well located only a few steps from Santa Trinita (the church and bridge) and easy walking distance to all major sights. The rooms themselves are generous size, tiled in cotto marble, with very modern bathrooms. The bed's mattress was (I think) foam and very comfortable. Furnishings are simple, lighting for night reading is adequate, and the room is very clean. Our room faced onto a quiet courtyard where only occasional traffic noise floated over the thick walls. You do hear the early morning bells of the nearby church, but this we found charming.

If you are used to staying in a big hotel with a large lobby, a bar, doorman, and room service, this is not the place for you. But, if you don't mind a bargain (98 euro a night) in what can be a very pricey town, in a comfortable and traditional setting, with a personable host, this is the place for you. We will happily return to the Hotel Scoti on our next visit to Florence.

Our recent stay at Hotel Scoti in Florence was wonderful. I must say Doreen and her family run a great little famliy hotel. They were so helpful and friendly! The location is great and only a ten minute walk from the main train station. You are in a safe neighborhood, with high end stores like Prada and Cartier right in close proximity. Everything in Florence can be reached with a short walk. It's better to see the city on foot. The room was very clean and spacious. The bathroom which looked to be brand new, was very big (for European standards)and clean. We enjoyed the breakfast in bed service for 5 euro, which consisted of breads, fruit spreads, juice, and coffee/tea. Overrall it was a great experience. If we make it back to Florence, we will definitely stay at Hotel Scoti.

Recommended to us by a friend, we were not disappointed by Hotel Scoti. Located very centrally, we were a hop, skip and a jump from the station, shopping areas, and the Ponte Vecchio.

The hotel's manager is lovely - she made our stay even the more better by her thoughtfulness and fantastic choice in furniture (the rooms and main hall are full of restored antiques - handed down through her family).

On a practical note, the rooms are clean, our bathroom was new and worked very well (unlike some other places in Italy!), it was nice and cool even without air conditioning and the place is very quiet.

Book in advance to get a spot there.

We just returned from two nights at the Hotel Scoti in Florence and are pleased to say that our room was unbeatable for the price. Very clean, with big, new bathroom. Location is perfect. Doreen was very, very friendly and made some excellent recommendations on reasonably-priced restaurants with great food. We would stay here again in a hearbeat.

My husband and my 13 year old son stayed at this wonderful hotel for a week during March. It was perfect for us. Large, clean, airy room. with a beautifully redone BR. The hotel was very clean and done in very nice taste. If we needed help or advice Doreen and her family were very helpful and pleasant, (English speaking), but otherwise they left you alone. Perfect location, and perfect place to rest after long days of sightseeing and walking. We didn't have their breakfasts, they are extra, but there are tons of places nearby to eat and get great cappacinos and espressos. We got a couple of wonderful recommendations for restaurants and all in all our stay was great!

Lovely little hotel in the heart of Florence.

The place has character and charm as well as clean modern bathrooms, and is well looked after. The place may on one level be basic, no satellite TV etc, but it is spotless and has what you need and Doreen, the Hotel Owner, is helpful with useful local advice and friendly in a way that you simply do not get in impersonal big hotels.

Great place in a great City, I would recommend it to anyone.

We stayed here on a recent visit to Florence and found it completely wonderful. It is quiet and beautifully decorated, with an extremely nice sitting room and helpful owners. The price is reasonable and they take credit cards. Breakfast is 5 Euros and pretty good, they serve it to you in your room at the time you request. Very clean and comfortable. The hotel occupies only part of an old palazzo, you have to go to the second floor before you are in the hotel. The rooms are very basic, so if you want your own phone or TV this is not the place for you. Otherwise it is highly recommended!! Best hotel (and cheapest) I found in Italy. The location is great too, near everything.

The Hotel Scoti is a wonderful little hotel right in the middle of Florence. We had a wonderful time, it was very central with a great cafe around the corner and 5 minutes walking to all the main tourist areas. The room was lovely, clean and modern with personal touches. The owners were also very accomodating. We loved Florence and the Hotel Scoti certainly contributed to our experience. Thanks for a great time.
