The Hotel Roma, a historic hotel in Siracusa, is housed in an ancient late 19th-century building adjacent to the Cathedral, in the heart of Ortigia, the historical center of the city and a masterpiece of Sicilian Baroque. Finely furnished, the 40 rooms and suite of the Hotel Roma place their identity and diversity in the most sought-after details. The hotel, founded in 1880, is set between the Cathedral and the Archbishopric and overlooks Piazza Minerva, which continues along Piazza Duomo along the ancient Doric columns of the Temple, and the most central street of Syracuse, Via Roma.

Great location, great service, lovely room (204), very good food. Breakfast was very good for our needs and it was great to sit outside. The location is ideal for a few days in Syracusa. We did the hop on hop off tour, a boat tour and saw the sights. Plenty of great restaurants close by, some look classier than others but all had very good food and service, including the hotel restaurant. Don Antonio, Cod da Saretta and La Bracioletteria were all worth visiting. — would visit them all again. The room was a good size an and the bathroom a little small as is often the case in Italy. The bed was very comfortable and the AC was perfect. Noise in the streets starts at 6 am — a small price to pay for the location and was not a real problem for us. Parking is difficult but there is a well organized private car park close by for €20 per day — book before you travel but if you can with todays prices it might be easier and cheaper with shuttles and taxis.

We enjoyed our stay at this centrally located hotel in Ortigia. Though the interiors are dated, they are comfortable and spacious. Room is very clean and everything is in good working order. We stayed in a corner room with lovely windows that opened to the street and square, and were not bothered by noise, though this was off season. The lounging areas just off the breakfast room were a perfect place to meet up with friends and enjoy a drink while people watching.

Communication could be better- before arriving, we had difficulty contacting the hotel and no way to confirm our room and transportation arrangements. Their website listed nonworking emails and contact info- turns out the management had changed and the new website hasn’t been created yet. Once we arrived, things were fine, but it would be helpful to have more reliable communication.

Breakfasts were lovely, especially with the friendly and helpful Anna. Would stay again if visiting Ortigia.

The Hotel Roma is a lovely hotel well located in the centre of Otagia area of Syracuse making it very easy to explore the old town. The room was large and very clean with a large balcony with great views. Unfortunately they cannot be enjoyed without standing on a chair due to the height of the enclosed balcony.
The shower was very good. The wi-fi was very good. The breakfast was excellent.
Negatives: the door to the room would not lock, a solid push would swing it open. The was the same on an adjoining room. We informed the hotel, they said they would fix it but never did.
It seems there are some electrical fuses located in the shower recess, this if correct is dangerous

This place is in an excellent location in Ortigia. It has a delicious breakfast, and is really good value for money. When I accidentally left something behind there the manager (Roberto) could not have been more helpful in assisting me to get it back. It is not the easiest place to drive to (there are some tight corners) but they will valet your car for €30/day. I would definitely recommend it to others, and would go back there myself in a heartbeat.

Excellent service and staff. I could not ask for a better experience: clean rooms and extra caring housekeepers with attention to detail, tremendously professional and well-trained. The kind front-desk staff is available at any time and efficient. Great kitchen and breakfast service. A charming hotel in the heart of Ortigia.

Beautiful hotel, plenty of character with very helpful and friendly people.
The location is fantastic right next to the amazing Piazza del Duomo.
We had breakfast included which included beautiful pastries, fresh fruit and amazing coffee.
We will stay here again on our next visit to Ortigia.

My wife & I spent 5 nights at this hotel located on the island of Ortigia. Wonderful staff ....helpful and professional. Rooms were spacious and clean. Breakfast offered a broad array, from fruit to fresh pastries; and the outdoor tables offered a relaxing setting with a wonderful view of the adjacent piazza. Location was perfect for exploring Ortigia. The hotel and location helped to make this an unforgettable experience.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanted to visit Siracusa. It's beautiful, historic, and very close to everything. A 5 minute walk to the beach and many cafes, restaurants, and stores are all in walking distance. It's a beautiful area.
Staff was extremely friendly and helped us fix our safe and TV. WiFi was really good too!

We are an English-speaking married couple (age 68) who stayed at this hotel for 3 nights while visiting Syracuse. The hotel is situated in the historic center with easy walking to all major sites, shopping, and restaurants. The front desk was friendly, helpful, and efficient. The room was quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and varied with a wide variety of pastries. Our only regret is that there was no kettle or coffee machine in the room. It would also have been nice had there been cold water available for guests in the lobby.

A Beautiful hotel with great location. Nice breakfast. Nice staff. We booked a room in march and the room that we got on our arrival were on the second floor towards Via Roma. In the end of the corridor. The room had a window high up on the wall and two "floors" - so you had to go upstairs to bed. Dark and not nice. I do not recommend this room. The Hotel Roma have some beautiful double rooms and we were so disappointed. Tried to change but the hotel said it was not possible.

Dear Ingrid, we have verified that during your stay we have not been asked to change rooms by you and we are sorry that we have not had the opportunity to understand what your needs were. The rooms are assigned according to the type booked and the one assigned to you was exactly what you confirmed. The sleeping area on the mezzanine is for many guests what characterizes the room and often a strong point. We thank you for your review and for appreciating our staff and we hope to have you as guests again.
