Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We picked this hotel because it was so close to the bus stops (Interbus, AST Etna, Alibus). Location was perfect in that sense (less than 100m walk). Our room faced the street with a small balcony. With both sets of doors closed there was no street noise. Room size was decent and bed was comfortable. Shower was small but with good water pressure. Mini fridge. No english channels on TV. Breakfast selection was simple but adequate (toast, croissant, boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal, fruit, one plate of meat/cheese, cookies). Front desk was friendly. Air con is central air - I found the room hot and could not adjust the temperature. We opened the doors but then the bugs got in and there was street noise. Wifi was fine the first night but had intermittent outages the second. One guest we met could not get a signal in their room. If you need a hotel close to the buses for a short stay, it works.

We stayed here for one night on our trip to Sicily. The hotel is just a short walk from where the airport bus stops at the train station. If walking from the airport bus, especially if it is dark, walk up the right hand side of the road looking over at the left hand side of the road. There did not appear to be any illuminated sign when it was dark however if you look up toward the 1st and 2nd floors the hotel name can be seen painted on the outside of the building. The staff on reception were welcoming and provided us with a map of the city and a suggested route to the centre of town which was helpful. The room was clean although it could have done with a bit of decorating / modernisation here and there. However based on the price we paid we were happy with our choice of hotel. We had a room at the rear of the hotel which we found to be very quiet. Breakfast was a standard continental breakfast, nothing fancy but sufficient. Would certainly recommend this hotel especially as it was so close to the train station and buses.

While there is not much to recommend about visiting Catania, if you do find yourself in transit there, the Hotel Rigel is a good choice for a night. Conveniently located near the Central Train Station, the major regional and inter-city bus depots, and a Metro line station (Stessicoro), it is run by a very friendly owner and staff, serves a passable breakfast, and is very affordable at €80/night. It is in a slightly sketchy neighborhood, and next door to a gelateria/bar/cafe, but then that is pretty much the real side of Catania.

This hotel is highly recommended if you want to be close to transportation. We stayed in Catania two nights, we wanted to visit Etna, and our next stop was to Syracusa. The bus station is one minute walk from the hotel. We liked this hotel very much, It's clean, the staff is very friendly and helpful! Giuseppe has recommended us very good restaurants and beach! However note that the hotel is at at Catania's center, which is 15min walk from the hotel.

Good hotel very centrally located. Good breakfast included. The hotel arranged for good mount etna tours in jeep. There is a bakery right next to the hotel serving best pizzas. Hotel is next to bus station.

Within 50 m of bus terminal, 200 m to railway station. Clean & comfy, very central. Decent breakfast, good room rate. Quite a large room in the roof space. 15 mins walk to main downtown attractions, eg cathedral, gardens.

Although we only used this hotel as a stopover it was rally reasonably priced, clean and staff were very good, wifi was free but kept dropping out you can park on the street, and as we had an early flight staff opened up breakfast so we could eat early. This hotel is situated next to bus: train stations with eateries scattered nearby for a quick bite and a wine/beer.

This is a quality hotel located close to the train and bus stations, really, an easy walk even with luggage. As you exit the train station you will see a building on the left with square grey columns on the first floor: that's the viale della liberta. Walk up the street one and a half blocks and the hotel is on the left. That's the good part. The bad part is that this is not a delightful neighborhood, with many shady characters roaming about the train and bus station area. In honesty, we were never bothered by anyone. The downside however is that most of the restaurants are located downtown, and that's a fifteen to twenty minute walk no matter which direction you go in (heading straight west will take you to a maze of streets: it's better to ask at the desk how to get downtown). The hotel itself is exceptionally clean, well-maintained, and well-organized. Breakfast is good, and is cheerfully organized by the employee who gets everyone the desired coffee of their choice. The wifi needs improvement, as we were kicked off a number of times, even in the lobby. The TV is only in Italian. However, the staff is extremely friendly and considerate. They housed my luggage for a number of hours until my afternoon flight, for example. This is a good hotel, at a great price. Consider it if you have a night or two to spend in Catania. However, if you are interested in staying longer, you probably would do better downtown where there is more action.

Breakfast specific to the area, sweets, sweets, cappuccino, cereals, milk, jam, butter, cooked eggs, cheese, prosciuto (salami was bought at my request) clean room, minibar, slippers, air conditioning , Soundproofing, toiletries, cleaning and changing daily towels. Close to the central station 2 minutes, from here and transfer to the airport about 20 minutes with "Alibus" cost 4 euros / person.Personale careful, benevolent, leaflets and travel tips from the staff.Guest Mr. Giusepe (bought salami for me) There are many shops, bars and restaurants nearby. Interesting terrace on the 1st floor where it was arranged a place and for smokers. We recommend this hotel. The price is correct for the services offered, two nights with breakfast 140 euro / room for two persons. Catania is a city that one day can be visited in a step, one day to go to Siragusa, and one day to go on a hike on Mount Etna The residents are nice, and careful with the tourists .. I did not notice any incidents or aggressive behavior

A nice modern hotel, close to the railway station, but a longish walk from the centre of the old city. The rooms are very clean and well-appointed. Breakfast is a bit limited. Helpful staff on reception.
