As our guests write: "A home away from home. Quiet, clean, convenient and very welcoming. Excellent location off the beaten track but still close to everything, located in not touristic and alive Cannaregio's district. If you are looking for lavish 4/5 stars Hotel with huge rooms furnished with fake baroque golden furniture please move on. If you visualize small bridges crossing the little canal outside your window, vine covered walls surrounding a patio and small garden and cappuccino every morning, then this is the place for you! The rooms are cozy and comfortable, their furniture original antique and well refurbished... Remember this is an old, Venetian home. No gyms. No pools. But a nice patio to enjoy breakfast or an evening glass of wine and cheese. You may also have the opportunity to meet some nice people from almost anywhere. The Venetian owner suggests local small restaurants and hidden itineraries through the wonderful unknown Venice".

Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

This was my first visit to Venice during which I actually stayed in Venice and it makes a HUGE difference, however, the cost can be off putting. Rates are high and some of the pictures and reviews of hotels online can seem a bit grim. The answer is to stay at this guesthouse! I

What a great find and great location! We were very happy with our stay, and the price is great for Venice - specially for the location and room views of the canal. Owner was very helpful and provided so many recommendations.

This is a perfect base to explore Venice from. The room was comfortable and charming and did have a canal view, and not at double the price! It also had everything we needed including USB charging ports, extremely helpful since I’d brought the wrong adapter plugs with me by

Hi, vaporetto to ca d oro - only two or three stops. Get off at Ca d Oro, walk straight onto Strada nuova (big street crossing), turn left and walk until you see a little fountain (there is a clothes shop opposite). Turn right at the fountain (Irish Pub down on the right Corner), then left (only few meters), right again and you are in Calle de la Racheta. Pass a restaurant called Antica Aidelaide and next is Ponte Chiodo.
