This hotel is absolutely amazing! Stayed with my husband as a treat for my 60th birthday and that’s all I can say is wow! The room was stunning and very very clean, overlooking a canal, just beautiful. Just one tip…. Keep window/door to balcony closed overnight as it can be a bit noisy in the mornings due to boats going through canal but I suppose that adds to the wonderful experience of beautiful Venice and this beautiful hotel.

Very nice hotel. Around it is very much shops. I feel there, like I am an king. Owner is kind. I think that I'll come back to that hotel. Price is very low, so you don't have to be rich to feel like konk or queen! Its in middle of Venice, not longer than 5 minutes away from sant. Marcos square!

Went for a classic double room, bed hard and now have a bad back, no lift and hardly any storage so lived out our suitcase. No tea coffee making facilities in the room. Small room and only 1 pillow each

Oh goodness...where to start...
I am not the type of person to give a bad review and I always try to find the silver lining, but this hotel has seriously challenged me!
Yes, the hotel is a 5min walk from Saint Marco's and right in the shopping district. Yes, some of the rooms do have great canal views.
Yes, the rooms are traditional.
Even considering this, I would not stay at this hotel again.
We had issues right from the beginning with booking a room where we were charged for two rooms and refused a refund. Luckily we had Mastercard on our side who fought the battle for us.
Our room was right on the top floor which is great if the hotel has a lift! Carrying bags up 4 flights of stairs without any help is really not fun! I felt really sorry for my mom and ended up carrying all our bags up and down the stairs. They really need to either get a lift or get someone to assist guests in carrying their bags. I really don't know how older guests would manage.
I'm not too sure what we did to upset the receptionists so badly, but right from the get go they were very snappy, irritated and I felt like apologizing every time I had a question.
Breakfast...oh...breakfast. Downstairs in a stuffy little "restaurant". Dry bread and tons of cake, it became the war of the fruit and yogurt. Come down too late and you would not be granted your wish of a fruit or yogurt...and DON'T DARE ASK! THE ANSWER IS NO! Well done to all the other guests who managed to beat us to it. As they say...the early bird catches the worm!
Reception closes after 7pm every day. Trying to check in after that will not go down well. I had come to the rescue of a couple who were standing outside with their heavy bags not being able to get in. The gentleman and the restaurant really doesn't care about the hotel guests and makes it very well known.
I would definitely look for a hotel within this location, but next time I'll be sure to give this hotel a skip!

Upon checkout we were asked if we could pay our bill in cash. We paid $500 in cash and the balance on another card. However when we got back to the US our initial credit card used to make reservation was charged full amount and not credited back. Thought we were being helpful and were being swindled! Have talked to management with no success and am turning it over to my bank and booking.com

My family of four just came back from a great Vacation in Italy with one exception the Al Gazzetino Hotel in Venice. Venere.com made the hotel sound fabulous. Superior Triple Room, canal view, full breakfast etc. etc. In reality, the hotel was very hard to find, our room was small, the bathroom filthy, our toilet when flushed overflowed spilling out sewage, the air conditioning didn't work and the breakfast was poor. Let me tell you about our family's experience. Within five minutes of getting settled into our hotel I notified the front desk the toilet was leaking from its base. The solution from the on duty manager was three towels and the promise to tell the owner in the morning. When one of my sons needed to use the restroom 15 minutes later and flushed, sewage spilled out the base. The manager was called and immediately she told me that I should have told her earlier about the severity of the problem. How could I have known that with our second flush of the day the bathroom in our 215 Euro @ night hotel would be awash in watery fecal debris!!! At least the management realized there was a real plumbing / public health issue and they were smart enough to give us 2 single rooms that evening . Unfortunately they sold out of rooms the following evening, but they assured us the plumbing would be fixed and we could return to our "superior triple room". After touring Venice during the day we returned to the"superior triple room" and on the first flush once again the toilet leaked and the watery fecal debris returned. After informing the manager she told me she called the plumber and he would be at the hotel within the hour. Well, sadly enough many promises and excuses were made, the plumber never came, and we had to stay our last night in Venice in a hot room were the air conditioning didn't work at all, a bathroom with towels on floor soaked in sewage not to mention a shower full of mildew. My entire family was so disheartened, we slept in our clothes, brushed our teeth took phoyos to document this experience and got the hell out of Al Gazzetino. Unfortunately, I can not find any positives for this hotel other than it is in Venice and Venice is an enchanting city.

+1
We traveled in a group of five, so we required two different rooms. One room was supposed to be canal-view, and though the windows were facing the canal, there was certainly no view of the canal (the room was too high up -- no elevator, mind you -- to see anything but roofs and pigeons). Misleading but harmless. The second room was in an apartment building a few alleys over, a building of which there was no mention on the website. That building was dark and dirty. Literally dark and dirty. The electricity would go out (I actually fell down the marble stairs during one of the power outages at 11:30 p.m.), we were told as we walked in that we may be without power and water from 8-10:30 a.m. because of construction work, there were mold and cobwebs in the unit (which made it smell bad), and no wi-fi (which was one of the perks that had attracted us to book the hotel in the first place). Oh, and the lock on our door was broken. On the plus-side, we got a great canal view -- I actually considered jumping out the window into the canal, as that water was probably cleaner and safer than the room we were in. We were told we had to pay in cash because their credit card machine was "broken"...for three days. Very unusual for a hotel's credit card machine to be broken for any extent of time, much less three days. There was no service from the receptionists, who were actually somewhat rude (at least the ones who spoke English). Do not book this hotel. Ever.

My husband booked this hotel based on good rating on booking.com, and when we arrived we discovered that they changed our reservation to the annex, and they told us they'd give us instead a good one on the canal (for which their geneorsity surprised us) which was a filthy apartment in a very very scary building, when we arrived there, i found the lamp in the living area was not working and it was almost hard to see eachother, when I asked the man who delivered us there about light, he told me why do you need light here? You will sleep there (referring to the bedroom), which was a very logic response! (lol) We decided that we will still take it and asked him to fix the light and after long negotations he did, after he left we were shocked to find that the apartment door was previously attacked with a knife or something! when we told the man to explain this he told us some people tried to open it but don't worry they did not succeed! It was totally unsafe that my husband was scared to leave me alone with our luggage till he went and tried to refund our money. They did not agree to refund us the money and we were charged the whole night price although we did not stay there.. ! don't ever try to go to this al gazzetino thing! p.s Photos of the broken door are attached.

We stayed in this hotel at the recommendation of my mom who's been there plenty of times. It's in the perfect location - close to everything but away from any chaos. It's a walkup with about 4 floors. I stayed in a double room which was roomy, had a great comfy bed, TV, A/C, and a small bathroom (average cleanliness for the bathroom). Another person in our group stayed in a single room which had a private bathroom for that room across the hall. The front desk is 24 hours. The breakfast consists of choice of coffee and croissants and rolls. The staff was warm and friendly, and even helped me out since my luggage did not arrive for 24 hours. They lended me some necessities. All in all it's a great place for the location and price paid. Would return again.

Hi i wrote them an email and they replied to me with this email address. I guess you refer to the email on their website. I booked it through booking com and i think it says contact the property owner directly and i clicked on that link. sorry i cannot be of much help. I would try calling them. It is faster and more efficient,
The public water taxi direct from the airport will drop you at Rialto Bridge, which is less than a 5 minute walk to the hotel.
You can pre-book tickets at a discount online.
I'm not sure whether a private water taxi could get you a little closer, but you'd pay a huge amount more.
