Great location; just off the grand canal and main "high street" of Venice. Near bus and train stations so not too far to walk with heavy suitcases either. The hotel was comfortable, quiet and clean. The breakfast was standard continental fayre with some variety- with excellent coffee. Hotel staff very friendly and we got exactly what we wanted in terms of a good value, perfectly located "basecamp" for our trip.

Highly recommend the pizza/gelato place on the corner before you turn down the street for easy, cheap but good pizza.

Just returned from a 3 night stay at Hotel Villa Rosa. We were recommended this hotel from a family member who stayed last year and have to say, I'm so glad we did as it was a really pleasant stay.

We were firstly given room 40, which is in the loft, and at a glance, looks a lovely quirky room, but practically, it doesn't work. Low ceilings where were kept banging heads (including our 10 year old) which can give you an idea how low they were and an extremely small bathroom.
We asked the next morning if we could be moved and without hesitation, within an hour we were moved to room 38,much better! Beautiful room, very comfortable beds and cleaned daily.

The reception staff are lovely and are so helpful, couldn't do enough for you. The location of the hotel is perfect, 5 mins walk from the train station, and walking distance from every thing else.

Breakfast is just OK. Nothing to fancy, but we were happy with tea/toast.
So overall, I would absolutely recommend this hotel, comfortable beds, clean, friendly staff and perfect location!
Thank you for our fabulous stay! Venice is amazing!

I stayed at this hotel from 18 to 20 September, 2021.

I had booked kind of last minute, the price was good, the location ideal - near the train station. But the combination of low price and the two-star rating made me think I'd be lucky if I got clean sheets.

I couldn't have been more wrong.

The rooms are clean and tastefully furnished and decorated. The staff are kind and efficient, the position ideal.

I didn't try the breakfast but the breakfast room is spacious and clean, and there appear to be good options.

Why it is only a two-star is a mistery; it shoudl have three, at the very least.

I would return and I'd glady recommend it.

Grazie, Hotel Villa Rosa!

This is a nice little hotel and I wouldn't tell people to avoid it, but... Our room was ready early when we arrived which was a bonus. We had booked a superior room for a week. I didn't think it looked that great, but it was clean and ok. We went to bed early as we had a 6am flight that morning. At 9.30 pm there was a group of people in the next rooms and outside ours talking loudly, banging doors, knocking doors and shouting. Ok, it was still early so I let it carry on, but at 11pm I'd had enough. I called reception and they stopped the noise immediately. I found out the next day it was a group of teenage school kids. I wondered if we had booked a hostel. I decided to look up the hotel online which had a picture of our room stating it as a standard room. Room 36. I pointed this out to reception who insisted it was superior but that I could change rooms. We were given a genuine superior room this time. We were never offered a refund after staying in a standard and paying for a superior. So be very careful what you are given. The superior is very much better. They knew a bunch of kids were staying yet they put us next to them and cheated us out of what we had paid the extra for. There was no safe in the room. Apparently they are getting one next week. We had one breakfast there. A bowl of very black bananas oozing out of their skin, a pear so ripe I put my thumb through it, fruit salad, a cake, bread, cheese and over ripe tomatoes. There was probably other stuff. Awful, probably powdered fruit juice, but not too bad coffee out of the machine. Their website shows plates of beautiful cooked breakfasts??!!!. See photos of breakfast which doesn't exist and proof that our first room was indeed standard

Please avoid booking this hotel, they cancel your reservation without any contact, just next to the trip and when you try to book again, the price is 4 x more expensive. I had booked this hotel at booking.com, in advance, with a good rate and was confirmed. Few days before the trip they just cancelled and dont reply to my messages. I have seen similar comments and I believe this was done by the purpose of having me to pay more! Dont book with them

I have just returned from my second stay at Villa Rosa and found it just as good as last time (2003). My husband and I stayed in Room 46 which is outside in the garden/yard. It seems to be a new addition since last time and was simply but nicely furnished and very clean. Unfortunately bathroom was tiny (is there an Italian hotel bathroom that isn't?). It was a little dark at first but once you opened the shutters on the window and french doors it was light and airy. Add to that the perfume of the roses growing over the wall outside and it was a top spot. Also, because it is at the end of the yard you effectively end up with your own terrace with table, chairs and umbrella. By the way, there are two garden rooms (numbers 42 & 46). Be careful of #42 - when we looked at it, it was possibly the worst room in the hotel. Once they renovate it to the standard of the other garden room it will be good, but not as it is. The only criticism I have is that they do not start serving breakfast until 8am. Normally this would not be a problem, but it was a bit of a surprise when we came down at 7am on the day of our departure expecting to have a quick breakfast on the way to the train. Venice is possibly my favourite city in the world and I am sure I will be back for a third visit. When I do, I will be going straight back to Villa Rosa.

This is quite possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. We were unlucky enough to be given room #42 (mentioned in the review below) and it was horrible. A tiny and uncomfortable old stable/shed out the back that had been turned into a very dark, basic room. This IS the worst room in the hotel. Breakfast was below average, with a tiny ration of 2 small bread rolls given to each person with a hot drink.

We found reception to be most unhelpful. When we asked for directions to transfer from the hotel to the Venice cruise ship terminal, they had no idea how to get there, so we were directed to vist a travel agency on the other side of Venice (approx 30 minute walk in the rain that day)...only to find when we returned to the hotel, there was a travel agency next door to the hotel on an opposite side steet. When we brought this up with reception upon our soaked return, she absently shrugged and said, "oh, there is too..."

We were extremely disappointed with the experience and would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

We were also travelling with Edward D'mello & family and it's appalling to note the attitude of the hotel staff. Imagine you land up thinking that all the bookings have been done, as mentioned by Martina on the previous day before starting our trip to Venice. We were shocked to note that the hotel staff had given the room booked by us, to someone else just because it was the peak season and they managed to get higher rate. If they had little concern for their customers they would have taken immediate action to find a solution to the situation we were in. Instead they are trying to blame the customers once again. We had a lovely time in all the different places we stayed in Austria, viz., Vienna, Salzburg, Sankt Johann Im Pongau and also in Florence and Rome. But never again will I visit Venice with my family ever again nor recommend this hotel to anyone because of the sheer arrogant attitude of Pavi and Martina. Pavi because he acted naive and ignorant of the situation while on duty and kept calling Martina to find out what really went wrong and Martina for her don't care attitude - not bothered to even meet us f2f to sort out the situation. I don't know who played the mischief but then the room was given to someone else just because they got a better rate. This is the only hotel we faced problems in our entire 15 day tour.

We were disgusted with the service of Villa Rosa. We did a booking online for two rooms with Villa Rosa more than 3 weeks prior to our visit and when we were en route to Venice, the hotel calls up at the last moment saying that our credit card was declined. Despite that we gave them new credit card numbers and the hotel deducted the required fees. When we landed there, the hotel said that they had given out our rooms to someone else because we arrived half hour late. All our pleas fell on deaf ears.

Over and above that, the staff were extremely arrogant. The front office desk staff, a boy called Pavi, said arrogantly, "This is not my problem. You have to sort out your own accommodation." Pavi was also too painful despite the fact that we had children with us. It was only after we threatened that we would call the police, did he make alternate arrangements with another hotel, Hotel Adua, nearby.

We booked the hotel after reading the reviews here which said that the place is quiet and beautiful. The reality is something else. It is actually a narrow lane, led through a street stinking of excreta and filth.

We stayed at the Hotel Villa Rosa in March 2002 paying approximately 60 euros a night for a double room with breakfast. The hotel is well situated close to the train station, bus station and vaporetto stops and at the start of the tourist trail that winds round the venice to St Marks Square. The hotel is down a narrow alleyway and we walked past it about three times before we found it but it is close to a small park and residential area. The room was medium sized with warm, well cared for decor and a comfy, clean bed. The balcony and bathroom were a little shabby but clean nonetheless.Breakfast was pleasant and filling and the staff were generally friendly. The hotel had bottles of wine and beer for consumption and the staff helpfully fetched us a corkscrew and glasses.I would definitely recommend this hotel. It was very good value for money. There is no need to pay over the odds to stay in the area near the Basilica as the whole of VEnice can be covered fairly easily on foot.

Turn left when you exit the train station. You will have descended several flights of outside stairs. Go down the sidewalk and pass by the first alleyway and proceed further. You will soon reach the second alley to your left. Go down this alleyway. You will pass by several small businesses. You will see a pink building on the corner of your alley and a street to the right. Enter the hotel.
