This hotel might have been given a 5 star but when we arrived they allocated us such an awful room I couldn’t believe it. We had paid for a superior room for my daughter and I. Not only was room 601 on the sixth floor with no lift after the 4th floor and access only by metal fire-escape style stairs (with carpet tacked to them), but it was the pokiest smallest most awful hotel room I have seen in decades! It in no way matched the photos of superior rooms provided by the hotel obviously to make people book only to be given what looked more like servants quarters! When I tried to phone reception found the phone didn’t work so I had to descend back down to reception with ipad in hand to show what the room should have looked like. The staff were very calm, too calm as it was obvious they had thought we were an easy mark to put in such an awful room. After glancing at the key boars several times, they said we could have a suite instead. The suite in the next building was four times the size of room 601. Complete with balcony but nothing in the kitchenette area save for a sink and a two ring hob. No kettle, cutlery or crockery. I had taken our own travel kettle and teabags but we then had to go to the souvenir shop next door to buy two ‘I love Venezia’ mugs as I had forgotten to take our own.
The breakfast was good with lots of choice ie hot mini omelettes and streaky bacon, cold meats and cheese, breads, pastries, yogurts and fresh fruits. Good choice of teas and coffees. All self serve but with friendly staff. I would have gladly given it 5 stars but reception spoiled that! Great location for a base. We came back to the room during the day easily and as it is next to San Marco it is very easy to find again.

Great Location and ok breakfast - we originally booked a twin room and it was very very small, shoddy and in desperate need of upgrading. We asked to see other rooms available only to be told there was one available on the 6th Floor but the lift only went to the forth. Not ideal with for someone with reduced mobility. Originally told the hotel was fully booked and when asked for a refund to find alternative accommodation we were then told they had a suite available with an additional cost. We paid it and the room was satisfactory. Overall, we had a pleasant stay.

The hotel is full of very friendly and considerate staff. It is in the middle of many sights near San Marcos square. The shower is small so larger persons might consider going elsewhere. The room was nice while the beds are on the firmer side. The common areas of the hotel are beautiful and the included breakfast buffet is nice. The coffee excellent. This is a moderately priced hotel and well worth its price.

Highly recommend! Great location and room. They were very responsive and helpful even before we got to Venice. We needed to secure COVID tests and they promptly told us how to do it. Right off St. Mark's so you are very close to many attractions.

So, where do I start. Was taken here as a surprise by my partner for my birthday and also it turned out to be an engagement ☺️. He had booked through travel agent, asked for central hotel and at least 4 star as it was a special occasion and to notify the hotel of this.

He made the mistake of when we arrived at the airport and after telling me where we were going, showing me the hotel online. The pictures looked amazing but me being me, I had a bit more of a delve around and started to see the bad reviews coming in in droves. This wasn’t the best start to our holiday, but he said straight away if it was that bad we would go somewhere else.

Arrived into Venice. Amazing, dreamy. Got to hotel, looked very Venetian and better than the horror that was going on in my head. Quickly checked in ( no mention of city tax, Which was charged on departure after they said they forgot to tell us) went to room with a million locks on the door. Imagine in your head the pictures on the website but downsize the room to a postage stamp size and add 20 years worth of wear and you will get the idea . Saving grace however was the view out of the window overlooking the canal which was beautiful ( very smelly though). Decided to stay, but here is my gripes. Can cope with a small room but heating was full blast. Air con is apparently switched off in winter. Got told we could turn heating off which was literally unplugging a radiator, and the room was still hotter than the sun. With the window open it cooled things down but the smell was hideous. The hairdryer was an old wall one. I could have blown my own hair dry faster so ended up spending 40 euro on a wash and blow dry. There was no kettle in the room but I could get over that one. However what I was astounded at, for a 4 star hotel was that in the whole building there wasn’t an iron and ironing board!! Another thing which really disappointed my partner was we arrived on my birthday and he and the travel agent expected maybe some form of acknowledgment from the hotel, even a little note, but nothing was done and after asking them discretely they said they did nothing either for any special occasion. The bed was like brick, with one pillow each. We asked for another two, got another one, and then had to ask again for another one. Two of the woman working their were also very condescending and patronising. Breakfast was ok, but would rather spend 4 euro on coffee and a croissant down the road . Towels were lovely and fluffy, shower was nice and hot aswell as the rest of the room 😂 location couldn’t be faulted.
A long review but to sum it up,
I can only say this hotel has 4 stars down to location and maybe a fluffy towel or two.
Bring everything but the kitchen sink with you and you will be ok, as you basically get a bed and a wardrobe and not much else other than stifling heat.

We booked this through a popular hotel booing website, three nights start of February 2020 in a world just about to learn about a pandemic. Others who have been were astonished that just under £60 a night got this hotel B&B for 2 about 45 seconds walk from Piazza San Marco, five or six suitcase laden minutes walk from San Marco stop on alilaguna . Great time to go as February is so out of season, just read up and go first or 3rd crescent moons to avoid tidal flooding!
Small but luxurious room, nice shower room and WC, decent reception and adequate typically unspectacular Italian breakfast looking onto a canal. Be aware that you will have to step outdoors for a few strides to get into the breakfast room which has not got a link corridor.
Tremendous location unbelievable value impatient to return !

We booked this hotel online due to its location to St Marks Square, literally two seconds away so prime location, hotel from outside doesn’t look too shabby, the inside of the hotel well presented and clean, receptionists appear to be helpful, we haven’t really needed to speak to them but the lady who checked us in was lovely and recommended a local homemade pizza restaurant, the room leaves a lot to be desired, we were room 107, this was directly facing the street, this could be quite noisy at times with multiple people walking past, the air con was available in the room which was good considering it was 30 degrees outside, however it was very loud but sort of got used to it. The bathroom was more like a wet room with a shower only, room was very small no where to move around, bedroom was very outdated and old, with super old furniture, I sort of accepted this was the dated look used in Venice? Room super dark and dingy, reminds me of something out of medieval times, room was cleaned everyday and sheets were clean, extra pillow was provided and had a decent sleep, breakfast was included which was continental and decent, Wi-Fi also but that is expected in most places now. Overall, this is certainly not a 4 star more a 2 star, ok to stay for a couple of nights max, if I was to return I would look for somewhere more modern and upmarket.

Our room was tiny, two single beds and fridge as bedside table. Reception didn't tell me there was a step down on opening a door so very dangerous. We had to walk two flights of stairs to the room as lift only went to 4th floor, ours was 6th but reception told us only a few stairs. Rooms weren't much bigger than the twin beds, wardrobe had a hole in the door and not much cupboard space with only 3 hangers between two folk. Bathroom wasn't much better, long and extremely narrow. Two folk couldn't get ready at the same time in either room as it was so small. The room also had a musty smell. Bathroom window wouldn't close either. Stairs to room were steep, not like the rest of stairs of hotel and there was no aircon units on our floor apart from very noisy one in room. This was our 2nd stay in Venice and I know the rooms are slightly dated but this has to be the worst room my husband and I have every stayed in. Maids also threw the bed covers and bolster cushion on top of the wardrobe rather than on the bed, we found this bizarre. I booked this city break through a travel agent as it was a multi city break. Photos on the website look lovely which is why we decided to book with great a great location. This particular room is not shown at all and the hotel should not be putting paying guests into this room. My in-laws were with us, their room was slightly bigger with canal view, more storage, furniture and aircon for same price

Arrived in Venice on the 13 of November.got to the Hotel around 11am and was allowed to check in early, decor is common for Italy with finishing as if they came from a French Palace. Check in was smooth and English was not a problem. They advised of the tourist tax which is payable in cash or by credit card of 13 euros. I had booked a single room which I had done in error as I advised was a solo traveller expected a double minimum so be warned. Was given a room on the second floor right next to the maids cupboard were all the stock was kept. There is a single lift which worked fine. All doors have the old style key with a weighted logo, dated. Now the room was small with a TV and a single bed just about bigger than a cupboard to be fair also with a l,bathroom will alla amenities . Also a safe and extra bedding and covers. The room was boiling as the heating was on when I entered but turned if off and opened the windows. The were two points that made this a 2 star rating. Day one the maids were out and about at 7 am and they do not consider being quite while going about there business the doors to the room are paper thin so u can here the slightest noise in the corridors. All the doors have the soft close bars attached but at the last steps they all slam, that with marble floors etc it's alot of noise. Day 2 I had work men drilling right outside my window at 10am . So close to the window it was uncomfortabel and invasive.soo if you want to lie in or simply sleep through the morning you can forget it. I get the work men was maybe a exception but the maids are every day. It appears they want it all done early. Being next to the store room obviously doesn't help as it's the constant clattering. So if you want somthing modern and somewhere where you can get a good night's sleep this is not the place for you. I almost felt as though because I was alone my business did not matter. The only thing this hotel has going for itself is its location as it is very close to St.Marks Square. Would I return NO I wouldn't and I would say I put up with the room simply because I was only staying 3 nights. I guess they presume you will be out ASAP. And being Italin myself I understand the language isn't quite forsure.

We just returned from a short stay in Venice and I must write to say how impressed I was with this hotel and the service. Firstly at the last minute we asked Maria to reserve a boat taxi over email and she did that just right so as soon as we landed and disembarked boat was there at the pier. What an impressive start for our stay. Reception was very welcoming and professional. Hotel was actually really easy to find literally over a small bridge from San Marco Piazza! Cases were taken to our apartment too. The apartment was surprisingly a generous two bed apartment also accessible via a working lift ! We also had our own shared entrance from a side street. It was all very clean and tidy. The beds were firm and comfy and in my opinion the en-suite and separate bathroom were immaculate, up to date and everything worked. Shower was nice and strong. It’s a shame we could not enjoy the space more because of all the distractions in Venice. Breakfast was a typical continental type plus bacon! So plenty to get us started for the day. Also hotel organised a trip to Murano too which was a marvellous treat. Only wish we could have stayed for longer but definitely will return here as there’s nothing like an early morning start and just walking into San Marco Piazza first thing when there’s no one about as well as late at night. Ci vediamo Royal San Marco !
