Hotel Canaletto earns praise for its central location, mere minutes from Venice's top attractions, and its spotless, charming rooms. Guests appreciate the modern bathrooms and effective air conditioning, but some suggest the rooms and bathrooms are on the smaller side. The service is lauded for being helpful and friendly, with only occasional hiccups reported.
While many find the hotel offers good value, opinions on the breakfast are mixed, with some recommending nearby cafes instead. Reviewers are enamored with the blend of Venetian charm and contemporary comforts that define the hotel's atmosphere.

Detailed Reviews
Having been to Venice many times and stayed in numerous hotels, I can honestly say this is one I will remember and book time and time again.
Positives
The staff were outstanding, nothing was too much trouble and they were friendly, positive and accommodating.
We stayed in the new part of the hotel that had been recently renovated and the typical Venetian decor with Murano glass chandelier was nothing short of beautiful.
Our room was a great size, enough space to accommodate a cot, with a large double bed and floor to ceiling windows overlooking a canal (as with any canal side hotel, you will get some water traffic, however the canal was not overly busy and the room was very quiet)
The air conditioning was very welcome after long days walking around the city and the bathroom was outstanding with a large walk in shower and marble decor.
The bed was comfy and the cleanliness of the hotel was faultless.
Travelling with a baby we needed a few additional extras to make our stay more comfortable and the staff did not hesitate to help us out when asked.
The breakfast was traditional continental with a great selection of cereal, pastries, cold meats, cheese and some eggs and bacon thrown in for those who can’t go without hot food of a morning.
Negatives
Being in an old building there is not an option for a lift to the ground floor, as with most hotels in Venice, so be sure to check the hotel description if you suffer with mobility issues or like us come with a mini me.
The renovated part of the hotel does have a lift from the first floor, we did have to carry the pram up a flight of stairs to reach our room (before taking the lift to the second floor) although the staff were more than accommodating and offered us a space to leave the pram if needed (although any parent would know disturbing a sleeping baby is not always a good idea)
we were also offered help with our baggage on arrival to the lift, so those travelling without children would have no problems here.
My only other slight gripe is that the bedroom did not have a mirror, there was a huge mirror in the bathroom ( most ladies would understand that make up is better applied in natural daylight) however this was a minor detail.
Location
This hotel is a real gem located in the middle of Rialto and San Marco with a wealth of shops bars and restaurants within walking distance, even with the minor negatives I will absolutely be booking this hotel again and again, we just loved our stay and it really felt like a little bit of quiet luxury in the middle of busy Venice.

Dear Shakespeare, your nickname speaks volumes! We have really appreciated your long five star review. We exploit it to inform all future Guests that a wing of the hotel is also served by a stairlift that may help people with walking problems to reach the first floor where most of rooms are located. We thank you for the time you have dedicated to write such a long and enthusiastic review!

Amazing location, super close to everything you would probably want to see if you are in Venice for a long weekend. I thought it was very easy to find - there is everything you need in 2min walk - restaurants, bars, sights, etc
Our room was very clean and had the authentic Venetian style, it is quite charming. Staff was very friendly and there is a 24/7 reception, which is great if you are arriving really late.

My husband and I resided here at the Hotel Canaletto after discovering what we thought was a hidden treasure on a travel agency website. We payed $900 for 4 nights including breakfast and reckoned this was very much reasonable.
We arrived October 12th 2020 by water taxi to the Rialto forefront and was later greeted by an overly pressured hotel correspondent named Alfonso who checked us in and directed us to the wrong room that inside was a couple, he believed was our family room we were kept along a marbled corridor for 15 minutes as directed by Alfonso himself to give him time to check the room we should be in. He came back up the stairs that lead to the 2nd level which my husband and I were on to tell us our room was overbooked due to his fault of believing my husband and I were having to quarantine before our arrival. We were 20 minutes later directed to the hotel manageress Fabiola who sincerely apologised and upgraded us in a superior suite for the inconvenience caused my her colleague. We unpacked and devoured into the selection of Venetian chocolate and marzipan candy we subsequently headed out into the wonderful and magical city of Venice ! We arrived back at the hotel around 10pm to which the same hotel correspondent Alfonso asked “why are you back?” “This is not good time there is no manager here”. My husband explained to him in detail his manageress upgraded us into a suite to which he stated he did not believe us, we invited him upto our room to show him our clothes and suitcases as evidence we were placed in this suite. He demanded we showed him our passports (they were in the safe box in the suite) we explained they were in the suite and he said he wants to check the suite we gave him our key as he could not find his staff key. We went upto our suite (no22), we showed him our suitcases and he began muttering broken English about candy, he demanded we come with him to reception to which he claimed we have a charge of €20 for a out of hours service charge, we were outraged by this as it was his intention to disbelieve my husband and I to which we showed him the room as proof we were residing there, after we explained that he stated he had “no problem” and he couldn’t understand why we took him upto the room he stated “you needed service from me to locate your room I show you room we are out of hours at this time”. After we commented on how lovely the room was and how delicious the complimentary Venetian treats We couldn’t believe this type of service and left the situation to the morning to which we were greeted by him knocking at the door with the same Venetian candy my husband and I enjoyed as well as two cups of tea, we seen this as a reimbursement and way to say sorry until our last day and he charged us €55 $80 for 5 candy chocolates and two cups of tea!!!! Will not be staying here again !

Good afternoon Madame and Sir, there must have been some misunderstandings as the description of the hotel you made did not correspond to our hotel. If you have the patience to read these few lines you will understand why. 1) In our hotel none of the staff is called Alfonso. 2) The hotel manager is a male; it goes without saying that his name cannot be Fabiola (that is a common female name). 3) In our hotel marzipan candies are not used as a treat to our Guests; chocolate, fruit, wine are treats we may offer to our Guests on special occasions. 4) In our hotel there is not a suite numbered 22. At Hotel Canaletto suites are numbered differently. For all these reasons we allow ourselves to say that you had mistaken the hotel you had lodged in with ours. We're relying on your kindness to remove or modify your feedback that is quite disparaging towards us and our painstaking efforts to make our Guests feel at home!

Travelled with my wife and stayed for 2 days from 2-4 Jan 2020.
This hotel is 5 minutes walk away from Rialto boat station and can easily be accessed via Google maps (prefer to download offline maps). All major attractions are easily accessible from this hotel (for some attractions you may need to take a public boat ride from the nearest boat station). Ample of eating options are available near to this hotel.
Rooms are designed to give a perfect royal exposure to your vacation with good options provided for breakfast buffet.
Hotel staff specially Lara, Igor and Marco were lived upto the expectation of providing great hospitality. Marco and Igor guided us very well about all tourist attractions and also helped us to plan our onward journey to Pisa.
I'd love to stay here again.

+1
The charm of this hotel and the friendliness of its staff are a credit, made my stay an absolutel delight.
It's worth paying the extra for breakfast, good continental selection and some warm selections (fried parma ham and scrambled eggs). Got me set up for the day and they start serving from 7.30, so you can make the most of being out and about early.
Slept so well, warm and comfortable and no noise. Also there's a safe in the room. When I came back each night it had been cleaned and fresh towels everyday.
My only criticism is that, there were no any plugs in easily accessible reach (had to use one on the floor by the wardrobe) and being a Brit I did miss having a kettle in my room.
Excellent location, take a right and you're in Rialto within a 6 min walk, take a left you'll be in St Marks in 10 mins.

Hotel Canaletto is a beautiful and charming little hotel in a central yet peaceful location. We arrived on Tuesday evening and were made to feel most welcome. We were allocated room 201 which was absolutely beautiful and pristine, with clever lighting adding ambience to the room. The en suite shower room was modern and stylish with a large shower and plenty of space for toiletries, it had good lighting and a large mirror.
Breakfast was a joy with everything one would need to fill up before heading out to explore the beautiful city. The coffee was perfect and the little tray bakes were delicious! The ladies managing the breakfast room work so hard and always with lovely smiles and warm welcomes in the morning.
On our last day we were able to leave our luggage at the hotel after checking out to go and do some gift shopping before heading to the airport. All of the staff we met during our stay at the hotel were warm, kind and courteous.
We would highly recommend this hotel for staying in Venice and would not hesitate to stay here again. Thank you and warm regards to all..

We stayed at Hotel Canaletto in March 2023 on our first visit to Venice. The hotel is located perfectly between Rialto Bridge and San Marco, in a quiet street.
We found the staff were extremely friendly and always willing to assist with any enquiries. The hotel is small, and has a breakfast room located by the main reception. We were really impressed by the breakfast offering, with there being a good variety for hot and continental style breakfast offerings. (Personally I would definitely recommend the pancakes with the chocolate sauce!) staff were also more than happy to make ‘specialist’ coffees if requested.
Breakfast was available for a good amount of time as well - 7am-10am and even at 9:45 the staff were still replenishing food and making coffees.
We had a Double Standard room, and although it was quite compact (like most things in Venice!) the bed was really comfortable, the shower powerful and everything clean.
The only negative is that the room did get very warm, and the air con was not easy to operate (hot air when it was set to cold!) a warning to opening the windows… you will get bitten by bugs!
For the breakfast, location and overall comfort we would definitely recommend and will look to stay again on our next visit to Venice.

Initially this is not the easiest hotel to locate and required assistance from a mobile sat nav . Any one who has visited Venice will be familiar with the many alleys and twists and turns . Once located it is appreciated that it is close to St Marks Square and all attractions , We only had a short stay of 3 nights but still managed to require assistance to locate hotel each time we ventured out .
This is a 3 star hotel and don’t expect any more . The decor is very attractive in a Venetian style as shown in all pictures . I had a twin room with a view . The view was a courtyard with a well . I slept soundly and it was very quiet at night . The breakfast was less than basic and carbohydrate laden . Lot of coming and going to serve
us by the only member of staff on duty who doubled to manage the reception . Bit chaotic .
On the whole the members of staff were friendly and helpful but not all . One member was lacking tolerance and on occasion was quite rude . In his defence our recent visit was at a time of severe concern due to the Corona virus and this could have affected his mood . Venice we will return but probably not this hotel .

We had 2 rooms, one had a kettle. I asked for one from reception: problem solved.
Good morning,
the best way from M. Polo airport is catching a public water shuttle (Alilaguna company, orange line) from the airport little dockyard and get off at Rialto (it takes an hour and it costs € 15,00 per person). Then follow directions as reported on our official website
Good morning,
the hotel provides luggage store only for the hotel guests and it is free
Yes rooms have a haridryer. And as previous posters state it is closer to Rialto than San Marco. That said, it possibly a little easier to find coming from San Marco than Rialto, so depending on how comfortable you are with navigating the streets of Venice you may want to walk a few minutes longer and have fewer twists and turns.
No,you could get a speed boat from the Airport or taxi to the port and get a water taxi to the Rialto Bridge and it's just 5 mins walk from there!Have done both !Taxi is faster!!!!Or Private Speed Boat (a bit pricy though)But maye to share between 4 is not so bad!
